For Day 3 of Week 2, I had a planned 5.3 mile hike on a beautiful wooded trail. The trail is flat for the first mile, so I got in my running intervals, too. Great way to mix it up--some mud, a few roots and curves along the way. And for a change we had gorgeous weather--cool and sunny with an intensely blue September sky.

Had a car appointment at 12:30 yesterday. Came back at 3 and they were just putting it in the garage. Half hour later, I was getting irritated so I decided to fit my 5k training in while I continued to wait. (Good thing I had my clothes and shoes on hand) Felt great when I got back and not even upset when they told me they weren't able to accomplish anything and had to make another appointment.

Reading through all the posts...great job everyone. A little every day helps.

ScottyP65 ~ I hope you muscle soreness wears off soon so you can get back to running.

I altered this challenge a bit because I don't have time on some days to run. So, I'm doing 2 days running, 2 days off.

Finished Day 11 day. Woo!

I had a set back in week two, used a crappy treadmill and went too long so the outer side of my calf's were screaming sore. Took a week off and resumed where I left off. To alleviate further injury I even stopped walking in between the jogging days. Heck I even decided to stretch after a brief warm-up, and after the run.....BIG mistake for me. Somehow or another I tweaked a set of muscles in my left hip that really left me in a significant amount of pain. Now it's been two days since I have run and....just got to do something. I will attempt a very slow jog today, after a good warm up, and see where I am.

In other news, the C25K program I am using is working and I am able to perform at the level I am at, when not hurting from external factors. With any luck I will finish week 2 today.

Finished week 2 day 2! We started to get some snow, so I ran out to get it done before it got too snowy. I walked a few minutes, jogged 5 1/2 minutes (woohoo), walked about 5 more minutes, and then came in and did 25 minutes with a varying resistance program on the recumbent bike. Hoping the snow isn't going to be as bad as they say, I really want to keep the motivation up so I can get this thing finished :)

Got thru first day of week 2. This is really the first time I have attempted something like this. I walk a lot (5 or more miles 4 to 5 times a week) but jogging is new to me. I was able to walk 3 min and jog 1.5 minutes for 27 mins total.

Finished week 2, day one. Wind, cold and a little ice here, so I walked a little, jogged 5 minutes, and then came in and did the recumbent bike for 20 minutes (program varied resistance 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, then slowly back down to 1).

Hang in there, TIFFFIT! The second week is harder than the first, because your joints and tendons and ligaments take longer to condition than your muscles. Running does get better.

I finished all three days of Week 2 but I think I need to repeat it. I'm running on the treadmill and I find myself counting the seconds until I can drop back to a walk--not a great place to be if I'm planning to move on!
Sadly, I learned that we can't run the Color Vibe 5K at the end of February because of a conflict with our daughter's piano ensemble. I'm going to try to sell those tickets and I'm looking at doing the Color Run in Phoenix at the end of January...had really planned on an extra month to train but I love the idea of the colors.
I don't think I'll be a runner after this; everything hurts, my endurance is crummy and it's not much fun. Still, the 5K is on my bucket list and maybe my attitude will change by then!

"I can't get there from anywhere but here."

Next Landmarks/Goals:
[ ] Back into the 220's (I told you I'd gained a huge portion back)
[ ] Back into the 210's
[ ] Back into the 200's
[ ] Back to Onederland
[ ] Someday/bucket list goal: hike to Havasupai Falls (and out again...)
