I am still not losing weight! I gained like, 2 pounds between Sat.&Sun.! GRRR! I guess it's time for me to REALLY start paying closer attention to my food cuz you'd think after not doing ANYTHING for almost a year and then getting busy like I have in the last month, almost, I should have lost AT LEAST 5 pounds!!! I have not eaten any more than I was B4. THAT is what is so frustrating to me! I would understand if I had started eating a lot more or something. It's not water or lactic acid by this point I wouldn't think!? I just don't know!!!! ANYWAY.....

I decided I was going to take today off! BUT.....!!! At 7PM I was feeling like a blob and been cooking all day. I had been on my feet most of the day but I had energy anyway and nothing on TV really. I put on my jogging outfit and headed out. I ended up doing my Walk 2 / Jog 2.5; 7 times!!! AND... I took almost a whole minute off my time! WOOHOO! I can't take much of the credit though. The temp. was much lower. Only mid 80's instead of over 100*. I KNOW that had a lot to do with it. SO GLAD I DID IT! Now I DON'T HAVE TO DO IT TOMORROW! HAHA! Actually it's 2AM right now!!! Monday!!! My schedule is all messed up. ANYHOW! I am proud of myself for getting out there and doing my thing after having decided not to do anything!!!!

Thanks for listening to my little rant!!!;)) I feel better! Still chunky but better in my head! LOL!;))

Saturday, 15 June; Not a running day

Cardio-

- Walk with 2; 8LB weights = 27 minutes ; 1.35 miles
- Walk with 2; 5LB weights = 24 minutes ; 1.35 miles
- cut grass - 40 minutes

Strength - this was done WHILE I was walking with the weights
with 8LB weights;
- 5 sets of over the head triceps lifts
- 5 sets of biceps curls
- 5 sets of biceps curls with a different angle ( I'll find out what they call it)
- 2 sets of triceps pushbacks

with 5LB weights;
- 3 sets of triceps pushbacks
- 3 sets of over the head triceps lifts
- 2 sets 25 reverse crunches

Not done while walking.... ROFLMAO!;))
- 3 sets of 15; bicycle crunches
- 2 sets of 25; crunches with 2; 5LB weights on my chest


APRIL 26th 2010,GOAL= 125-122 got to 126.

I looked at the plan I printed out & realized it is walk 2 / jog 2.5; 7 times. So out I went. Let me tell ya.... when I opened the door I ALMOST didn't go!!! It was a blast of HOT, MOIST ari in my face! I looked at the thermometer.... 100* & THAT DOESN"T included the humidity factor!!! I was brave & set out anyway.

I DID IT! It took me 2.35 miles in 36 minutes. That includes a more than 2 minute walk back home. It was 4.5 minutes. SO... again, I DID IT!!! WOOHOO!:)) I din't feel like killin' myself at any point either. It was hard but totally doable. YAY ME! I also did 2 sets of 25 reverse crunches and now I'm on my way out to cut grass for about 40 minutes. It needs it and I have the time & energy so... why not?! I know It's kinda a lot for one day but I'm still below 500 cals. burned today so.......

Not a running day!

28 minutes walking with 2; 8# weights = 1.35 miles
28 minutes walking with 2; 5# weights = 1.35 miles

Total time = 56 minutes
Total distance = 2.7 miles

Tomorrow I'm going to try the 7 times of 2.5 walks & 2.5 runs! I should be finishing week 5 tomorrow but I'm just not ready yet. Far from it. The 3 minute jogging stints are very hard. I want to get comfortable doing 2.5 7 times B4 I think about moving on again. Every now & again I might throw a 3 in there just for "FUN"! HAHA!;))

@TIPYRAIN, I still maintain that you are doing so well. I stepped on the scale this morning and there was no much difference but I was so surprised that I wasnt bothered because I just reminded myself that not everyone run like me. The fact I can run a mile or more at a go is so much achievement to me right now. I really look forward to a week 4 as you are.

Off running day!

In it's place I cut the grass for 80 minutes and did 50 crunches with two five Lb. weights on my chest. Scared about tomorrow cuz the feels like temps. are going to be over 100* but it's to be that way the rest of the week!!! I gotta bite the bullet and "Just Do It!"

Week 5

I haven't really decided how I'm going to do this week. But, I'll be posting what I do anyway. I need to keep track so I see improvement or need to do something different. This is my record of my days.

Day 4 Week 4

I know there are technically only 3 days to week 4 but I do stuff everyday! Today, this is what I did.....

15 min.- Walk/Jogged = 1 mile walk 2,min./jog 2.5 - 3 times
30 min.- Walk W/ 2; 5Lb weights = 1.35 mile

I am repeating week 4, the week of June 9th. Still shakey with it. I would like to do the week the way it is intended. Meaning doing all the walk/jogs in one round instead of breaking it into uneven sessions. We'll see how it goes!;))

Good news though! I DID IT! emoticon walk 2 / jog 2.5 7 times!!!! ALL AT ONE GO! emoticon

Day 3 - Week 4 DONE!!! emoticon

The best part of it all was I didn't do my usual squeaking noise at any point today while jogging! emoticon emoticon I am still going to repeat week 4 to feel more confident with it.

I hear ya on the old me part. I knew they produce lactic acid which is used for the healing process as well. I didn't really think about the water. I know I swell when I workout though. It's so frustrating to have a good day and be "punished" by the scale! It's NOT FAIR!!! I'll get over it. SOMETHING has GOT to be happening. I'm also giving myself that 5LB. wiggle room that I refused to do in the past. No one else cares what I look like, this is all just my thing. Thanks for the water mention. The scale was mean to me again today. I'm about to throw it out the window!;))

I find that after a workout, I gain also. Muscle holds onto water to repair, before it releases it, and that can take a few days.

The old me, that didnt know that, would have said, well to heck with that and quit. Sounds like you have your head on straight :)

Hi,
I didn't get a chance to check in for 6-6-13 so here it is now at 12:58AM 6-7-13!8O

I walked 1.35 miles carrying a 5LB. weight in each hand. I didn't just have them hanging at my sides either! Try it sometime with your arms like you're racewalking!!! Then I alternated biceps curls & every so often would push them behind my hips so I worked my triceps a bit. I also cut the grass for 50 minutes.

I was really discouraged when I got on the scale after what I THOUGHT had been a great day Wednesday only to find out I had gained 2.8 pounds over night. There are a couple or few reasons this happened that I can think of that make sense so it's not as discouraging as it could have been. Also, I'm not to far off track as far as my so called goal for the 11th or so. So, even after a bad report from my scale and feeling every bit of the 2.8, I made my day count for something instead of letting it set me back even further!;))

Tomorrow is the last scheduled walk/jog day of the week 4 for me. Woohoo! I am planning to repeat week 4 because it is still REALLY hard for me. I want to get a little more comfortable with it B4 I try to move on. I don't want to feel like a failure. I can't believe how different running outside is compared to tread!!!! It's much better. My knees are A LOT HAPPIER!!! YAY!:))

AH, another walk/jog in the HEAT! I know how far I went 2.35 miles in 37 minutes. The thing is, I don't know if I did 5 or 6 times!!! UGH! I get discombobulated the last couple of times. I can do 4 without wanting to kill myself!!! HAHA!:)) THAT is already an improvement. A huge one too! After those 4 though I get fuzzy. Maybe I'll go out again and do 2 more walk/jogs just to make sure I did them. It will add to the distance and time but it's all a good thing, right?!;))

So....

LOL;)) Funny too, I see! One of the awesome things about being older. We can laugh at things that would have made us cry at a younger age.

So, I didn't jog today. No reason to risk the heat again. I did what I was supposed to yesterday. Instead, I cut (mowed) the grass AGAIN for 35 minutes. I was smart this time out. I waited until after 5PM and the sun was off those sections of grass! I HAD to move. I also walked to my friends house which I don't do everyday so it's getting counted today! HAHA!;)) It was just a lollygag for a total of 14 minutes round trip. Then, I did some crunches and a little bit of arm stuff. I have no idea how to count it fairly but I'll do my best. I wish I could find a gadget that counted my calories for me AND DO IT RIGHT! I've tried quite a few and none of them work right for me! GRRR! I don't have $100+ bucks to throw at something like that. WHAAAWHAA! Me cryin'! LOL;))

I figure any day I do SOMETHING is better than a day I don't do ANYTHING! I tend to go all out only to fizzle and as you can see that doesn't work. I'm going slowly this time. I have till about the end of Aug. in all reality to get to where I want to STAY!!!

You're simply awesome!

I had to come back & tell you I couldn't wait till tomorrow to finish for real. I'm really obsessed with getting things right. I have a bit of OCD! LOL! No, really.

So anyway... I waited till it was a bit cooler & went out and did 2 more runs for 2.5 minutes and walked 2 like i was supposed to. I had a bit longer walk to get back home which was fine. It made it an even 3 miles, I think. It took me 57 minutes all together but now I can enter it for today and feel right about it. It does count if I break it like that, right?

Well, GOPINTOS!

I couldn't do it. I did it twice, the 2.5 minutes jogging. But, after that I just couldn't! However, I did keep going. I ended up going 2 miles in 38 minutes. Not so good. I don't feel as bad as I would because I looked at the temp. AFTER I got back and it is at or close to 100* in the shade. Kinda warmish. LOL!:)) The humidity isn't really that bad for here so it's just HOT! Not for me normally cuz bein' a Southern woman, the only time I get in a hurry & move fast is trying to escape the cold in winter! HAHAHA! I'm not discouraged, not giving up!;)) I'll either give it another shot tomorrow or the next day. I know we're supposed to rest a day but considering the small amount I ran in total, I don't think it'll hurt.

So, Day One - Week 4 - Done; sorta!

I've done water Aerobics B4! It's not an easy thing. People make that assumption but only those who have never tried it & have NO IDEA what they're talking about!;))

It's really nice to know that when I say something here I can pretty much count on some feedback. THAT IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME! THANKS A LOT!:))

APRIL 26th 2010,GOAL= 125-122 got to 126.

Hi,

OH MY! I made it thru week 3 WOOHOO for me! On to week 4! Scary!

I didn't run today be cause I ran the last 3 days to make my week start on Sun. I have enough trouble keeping track of everything w/o being on a different start day than SP! LOL!:))

I DID walk though. I walked 1.5 miles in 35 minutes carrying a 5LB. dumbbell in each hand. Gotta get shapely arms too ya know?!:))

I have a couple of observations about my new routine. 1st let me say, I did the C2 5K program B4, a couple of years ago. I was on a treadmill though. I am now outside doing the 5 week walk/jog thing. VERY, VERY DIFFERENT! The day after my 1st run of week 3, which is actually where I started this cuz I knew I could do it, I did the 20 min. Dumbbell workout. Then one day It was after my 2nd run of week 3, I think, I did the 15 min. ABS workout video. I couldn't understand why my Abs were sore. I hadn't been working on them. HMMM? AHHA, lightbulb comes on, the running is working my Abs!!!! AWESOME!!!! My bottom is sore too! HAHA! I don't have a big one, I have no problem with it except it's not big enough for my belly or the jeans they make these days! LOL;)) Anyway, the soreness there is almost gone now.

Just a couple things I thought were worth a mention!

Freaked about the extra 30 sec. this week! I know not to push it. I would like to be able to do it but if I can't I can't. I will do the best I can and hopefully not fall too far behind. Wish me luck! The only thing that gets in my way is my breathing. Nothing else is an issue.

GOPINTOS I don't have insurance so I definitely don't want to risk anything.

I took about 5 days off from jogging and then decided to jog yesterday for however long I wanted at whatever pace I wanted. It was really good. I was running every day for a while so I think that my legs needed a rest. Also when I slowed down my pace I found that I could jog up to five minutes at a time and when I stopped to walk there wasn't excruciating pain. All in all I think I just need to take rest days between jogs and slow my pace until I get used to jogging.

I am not a trained medical person, but you sure do not want to injure yourself. If it were me, I think I would go back to a point of where it doesnt hurt. It could be any of those things you mentioned. Process of elimination but you sure do not want to hurt & risk injury. JMO emoticon

I need some help. I did fine during the first 3 weeks and now I'm struggling. I have not been able to make it through running the alotted times. The jogging is fine, but when I stop to walk, I have all this pain. My right knee hurts and my ankles hurt even worse. It's only when walking. I can't figure out if it's my shoes, my weight, or my form that's causing this pain.

I'm starting to wonder if I need to hold off on running until I'm about 30lbs lighter.

Any advice would be great because I don't know what to do.

Well, I re-injured my hip, and have been quite sick, vomitting the whole 9 yards....UGH FRUSTRATING. My 5K is coming up this Saturday April 20th, luckily I can walk the whole thing if I need to, which the way things are going is probably going to be the case, I am hoping to be able to run some of it though.

My goal is just to be able to do it in 45 - 60 minutes and that is walking the whole thing.

I did day 1 of week 4 today, back on the treadmill, I've been suffering with the bursitis in my left hip since Saturday evening, but it felt really good to get on the treadmill, had to slow my speed down a little at the end but overall I am pretty happy, I did 1.94 miles in the 27 minutes, really hoping when I do day 2 that I won't have to slow down at the end and be able to maybe even speed up a little more in the middle.

Ohh thank you so much Gopintos, your advise really helps me alot.. Yesterday I went for a walk intervals, practicing my breathing.
So today the first 3 jogging sessions I really consentrate on my breathing, but during the third jogging the stitch pain came back but lucky for me just with the last few steps. So with that walking I took some good deep breaths to fill my body with oxegyn. From there on I was tired, and I start thinking of all the support my SP friends gave me, thinking of your friends, before I knew it my 4th jogging was finished. 5th time it really was hard to consentrate and keep moving, I took it slow and keep on pushing. Thinking of your friends, do not quit, just get over this - the break through is close... By then the pain in my side was back but I finish without quiting. During the walk I took deep breaths again and then I start for the last time. Thinking that I am doing great. I am busy to jog for longer than I did in years... and that pull me through...
Before I knew it the time was over !!!
Thank you so much for your support. I going to rest this weekend, leave next week's worries for next week..

I just remembered, when I read your blog, that my friend also said that it helped them alot once they got their breathing down. And the placement of their feet. So the proper technique/form really helped them.

My friend was just telling me yesterday, that when her and her DD15 feel like quitting, they just push on through it, and pretty soon they forget that they wanted/needed to quit.
