Week 4 Day 1 (try again) As I posted the other day last week I tried to increase my jogging time per wk 4 but couldn't do it. So I pushed myself by walking a shorter time and jogging 1.5 mins instead of 2. Today began a new week and thought I would try the walk 2m and jog 2m. To my surprise it wasn't that difficult! I did it! Yea! Jogged 2 mins/ walked 2 mins for a total of 50 mins.

Having to repeat week 3 again. Tried to go the 2 mins jog but made my side hurt. Is that normal? Should I push through the pain? I have altered week 3 a little bit by joggine 1.5 mins and only a 2 min walk.

I'm doing so much better than I did in week 3; yesterday I got in a 4.5 mile walk. I have a 5k setting on the treadmill so tonight's workout will be interesting as I am upping the anti on speed, incline, and less walking more running...

I am doing this program pretty slow but I was amazed at myself this week that I could jog for 5 minutes in a row! WHAT - ME? It feels good and I'm looking forward to pushing on.

I am heading out right now for day 1 of week 4. Having Thanksgiving is a blessing! As a teacher, I will have extra time on Thursday & Friday for my other 2 training days!
I am feeling very good about this plan.

I did a virtual 5K today. My time was 60 minutes. That tells you how slow I am. My 10K time used to be 75 minutes before I injured my knee. I am just happy to be able to finish a race. I can improve on my time as long as my knee holds up. My main concern is just keeping my knee healthy.

I have actually started to program over. I just wasn't where I needed to be. I found that I wasn't able to run for as long as the plan says. I felt better starting over. I hope your week 4 goes great!

Sunday October 27th is race day and I don't know where I am training wise but I'll do my best to get a few more days in and get my best time ever on Sunday.

Hi Kyra, I am very inspired to see your progress, thank you for reporting it here. If you put your mind to doing it you will surely do it. What keeps me on sometimes when I run is just remembering my spark friends, I believe they will be proud when I tell them I did it without failing. So as much as I know I do this for me, I still believe in making others proud too.

Happy Monday Team!!
Today was pretty great. I am starting to believe that this running thing REALLY is mind over matter!

I was able to step up the jogging to 2.5 minutes for three of the six sets! The other three were only 2 minutes, but I am confident that I can do all six sets at 2.5 minutes on Wednesday!

I have been saying a few words out loud to myself (like: "come on, you can do this," and "Great job, only 3 more rounds to go") before I resume jogging, and I think it's really been helping.

I hope everyone else is having a great day so far!

The WOW walk ended up being longer than a 5k . according to my tracker it was 4.3 miles in 62.33 . I have to take a couple of rest days since my foot was hurt on the bridge inclines but I should be able to do my 5k here before next Sunday. Hope all is doing good !!!

On Saturday August 24 I am doing a 5k walk in my area . My goal is to be able to do this in less than 40 minutes ... I am pretty confident that I can. So i will train harder this week and then do the best i can on Saturday.

I forgot to post day 2 & 3 of W4, so I will post it now. (hope that is ok)
W4D2--I walked approximately 2.25 miles in about 30 min. It went better then I thought. My body is not even sore at all. I am breathing harder than if I was walking but it is a good feeling, to get the body pumped up!!

W4D3--It went even better. I walked about 2.25 miles in about 28 min. I could have kept going for a couple more times, but thought I better not. I am looking forward to W5D1.

W4D3, 2.36 miles is 31.5 minutes. I felt pretty good today! I ran two of the 2.5 minutes at a speed of 4.9! Otherwise I was running at 4.7 & 4.8. I was pushing myself. Yahoo!! On to the next week.

Today was W4D2, and it felt great. I did 1.75 miles in 27 min. I can't wait to go to Day 2. I did get tired after the first one, but felt better as I kept on. By the time I was done, I felt really good.

TIPYRAIN, thanks for the encouragement. It's always good to hear.

Today was D2W4. I did 2 miles in my 27 minutes & walked the remainder of the time. (I like to do a little extra at the gym... more gym time.) I felt good today. Thursday I will do the last day of week 4 & then move on to week 5. There is an end in sight & then I will move on to the running a 5k. But I may try another activity for a month or so. I think my body is getting used to the running & that's why I am at a plateau. It's worth a shot!

Today my running experience was awesome. I did not enjoy the first 10 minutes of the run but it could only get better as I continued. I know tomorrow is going to be another great day as I start with Week 5 of the run.

- Dumbbell Side Bends; 3 Sets: 15 Reps
- Dumbbell Crunches; 3 Sets: 15 Reps
- Bicycle Crunches; 3 Sets: 15 Reps
- Reverse Crunch; 3 Sets: 15 Reps
- Lying Straight Leg Raises; 3 Sets: 15 Reps
- Pendulum; 3 Sets: 15 Reps
- Side Plank; 3 Sets: 1 Rep
- Swimming; 3 Sets: 15 Reps

Total time = 40 minutes
Total calories = 109

I used to do these exercises all the time but quickly. I had a friend suggest doing my crunches more slowly and concentrate on contracting my muscles. Nothing new there. I'd heard that B4 but coming from a really good friend it just made more sense. Put a new light on it, ya know. Weird how we can look at the same thing so differently depending on who it comes from.

So Patty ( formerly PMCOPPI10, LOL!;)), How did you group do today? How did YOU do? I am walk/jogging tomorrow. Haven't decided on my combination yet though!;)) HMMM? What to do, what to do!

I sure wish they had a program like this walk/jog one for ABS but they don't. They don't want us to "spot train". Which, I personally think is really stupid!!! It makes me really mad. Not to brag on myself but I don't have any body issues except for my tummy and my upper arms. And, my upper arms ARE improving because I am working them like crazy!!! I would just like a schedule to follow with my ABS like the running. Ya know. I guess I will have to make up my own thing. My butt hips are so not an issue, i really don't have much of either! LOL!:)) I know a lot of women would think that's a good thing. But not when all you DO HAVE is a belly. I have no chest either! Another issue for many women. I have done the Abs exercises here. I don't know why they wont just bite the bullet & put a schedule out there for us!!!!

GPEOT78, That all we can do. One day at a time. Like for me this week, really the last 2 days alone I have gained more weight than I had lost in the last 6 weeks!!!! Talk about having a strong will to go on after that fact of circumstances. OMG! I don't understand how that is even possible!!!!! I'm not giving up though.

I DID take today off I did absolutely nothing! I feel like it too! BLAAAHHHH!!!!

D1W4, I did 1.99 miles in 27 minutes. Even though this week has been one heck of a week & I am behind in my training, I will take each day one day at a time. emoticon

PMCOPPI10- congrats on the 5k! Way to go. 42.32 miles for you 5k is awesome!! emoticon
