I run outside. Today, the weather was terrible with thousands of lightning strikes and 3 tornadoes spotted. I woke up at 6:15am just to check the weather. At 7:00 pm tonight, I checked Klystron 9 and my area was clear. I immediately went out and did my 5K. Obviously this was the first waalk/jog so I didn't break any records (43.40) but it's a baseline start for me. When I came back into the house, I can honestly say I was proud and accomplished! Not bad for 60 years old!
This program works! Thank you SparkPeople!

Ran my virtual 5k on the treadmill yesterday in 42:38. I was happy to be under 45 min. Not sure what I am going to do next but will definitely continue the walk/jog until I figure it out. I've got some tight hip flexors that need to rest a bit. I will start to take the exercise outside as weather permits. I know of 3 different 5ks in the area. Feeling kinda shy about it. 55 years old, smoked for 25 years and quit now for 12 but not sure I will ever get more lung capacity. I have never been an exerciser so am pleased with things so far.

I finished my race today at 27:48!!! I couldn't believe it! I am so proud of myself and called my sister (who is an amazing runner) to tell her about my "race." She was so excited for me, too! I am so happy I decided to do this training, I feel like a real "athlete" now. I also came home and signed up for the 5K Your Way Running Program. We're runners now!

Finished the 5k today! Started out with 5 min. walk and averaged a 16 min mile. Stopped for water after 30 min and to cool off a little. Finished in 51.26. I am 44 and speed is definetly not in my favor so thinking about doing the 5k walk program next that will take me up to our San Antonio vacation the first of May.
Congradulations everyone your awesome!

I ended up doing this yesterday - I've started training for a 12k so my training ramped up faster than this 5k training! I did 3.1mi in 36 minutes. 1 minute of walking at the beginning, middle (for water), and end. I'm pretty proud! Ran at 5.3mph most of the time then the last mile I did negative split progressions. Awesome! I was beet red when I was done!

Just finished mine. 48:13 was my time. Not bad considering I have never jogged by choice in my life. I was hoping to get in under the 45 minute mark, but I'm happy with where I'm at. The official race that I signed up to do is in 2 weeks. I'm leaving on vacation, then have a week to pull it together and give it a shot again. I had to push myself through the last part of today and ended up walking a longer segment towards the end, but I finished it jogging1

Congrats everyone on finishing the 5k! We rocked it!

Kelly

I did my 5K race today and loved it. I was so excited that I did it in 38 minutes. Considering that I am 43 and just getting back into racing, I felt that was pretty good. Now I am doing the 5K running program. It would be great to see some of my 5K walk/jog team mates do this also.

Let me know how you did with your race. I don't want to compare I just want so say congrats on a great accomplishment!

I can do all things in Christ, who strengthens me!
