Hi WTLW154, I'm "officially" in week 6 now. I joined the 5 week plan as I thought that I might need to repeat a week or two during the program. Since I didn't, I finished up 2 weeks before the scheduled run.

SP offers an 8 weeking training plan and week 6 picks up right where week 5 left off, so I found it to be a nice transition. You can find it here

Good luck with your efforts!

Done! Jogged/walked a 5k that I routed out in my neighborhood this morning in 41 minutes. I have 2 weeks until the actual race, so I'm going to use the 8 week training plan (weeks 6 and 7) and will see if I finish the race in 41 minutes or less!

Hi! I completed day 1 of week 5 training today. I live in Mass and am inspired by the runners in today's Boston marathon. I walked/jogged at 6 am and it was hot and humid then, so I'm hoping they are able to be safe out there (stay hydrated and keep as cool as possible). The air is thick! ! emoticon

The 3 minute jogs were not simple, but I was able to do it (I admit to checking the clock more than usual for the stop time!). Pacing myself to run slower was the key that I needed to succeed (thanks again Laurie!) I'm excited to think that there are 2 days of training left to do, then I can officially say that I followed through on this--not always my strong suit. I'll then have two additional weeks to train for my first 5k and can't wait to see how much of the distance I'll be able to jog! emoticon
