Wow, what can I say? I am so sorry for missing this, but I trust you are already out of the rut now and back in the game. Running with the mind first before your using your legs is a very important factor and you need to always do this. Yesterday I was on the treadmill and I promised to run 10 mins without stopping even when my legs wanted to stop, my mind keeps reminding my legs that it is not yet 10 min and I did it rested for just 90 secs and continued.

You can do it!!! Don't give it up....I like the idea you have, if you don't make it then retake the week four until you CAN DO IT. I've taken off 71 pounds since the last part of March. They told me I couldn't lose 105 pounds at my age, i'm 56. I still have 35 pounds to go and I know I can do it and will do it. Then i'm going to rub it in the face of the nay sayers......I think your right the hills will only make you much stronger and when you hit the flat areas you'll be that much faster as it will seem much easier to you. Here in Florida we don't have the hills as an issue.....The bridges are our biggest obsticles along with the heat and humidity....I walked 15 miles this past Sunday and have accumulated over 500 fitness minutes already this month. When I started I couldn't walk to the end of the street. Sometimes when my motivation is lacking I have to remember where I came from and I don't want to go back there. I didn't like that person much. Sometimes it's necessary to look back in order to continue to look to the future.....Have a great SP day and good luck with your goals.

I'm starting to doubt that I can really do this. Week 4 was hard. I don't cross-train and I smoke. Maybe I'm looking for excuses in case I fail. BUT if I can't do it this coming week, I'm not giving up! I will just repeat week 4 until I can go on to week 5 and the race.
Another issue I have is that I walk/jog outside. There are hills. It seems that most of my jogging time is uphill. I tell myself this is only making me stronger, but wow---running on flat or downhill pavement is so much easier!
