Second week being a diabetic and 5 lbs. lost! My doctor is just as excited as I am! Thanks for all the posts, I am enjoying reading about all of your journeys. It makes me feel much better knowing others have gone before me and others are going through it with me.

I am trying to figure out how to do all this. I am new and can use all the help I can get. emoticon

I have been exercising 4 days a wk (strenght) but need to add some walking. Just so hot here in Fl I just keep putting it off. Will take my dog for a walk to get that in. Have already planned my route. I have come down on my insulin 10 units this wk and hope to get it down more every wk.

Any info you can give about how to do the Challenge will be appreciated. emoticon

June 1st the the first day back to the gym, so that is my Day 1 as well. Wife and I sat down last night and planned dinners for the next week. The discipline of daily exercise and controlling my eating will be a challenge, but this is something that I have to do. I know some people whose just don't care. I don't want to be one of them.

Started this challenge today. Have made pretty good choices with eating but haven't eaten enough. I tried to go walk the dog for my exercise today but today was 99F outside and not a breeze blowing. I managed to walk him about 10 minutes then had to go back inside. If it's this hot tomorrow, I'm planning on doing one of my exercise DVDs.

My goals-
1st 5%: -11 lbs = 212 MET!
2nd 5%: - 10.6lbs= 201.4 MET!
3rd 5%- 10.7= 190.7 MET!
4th 5% - 9.5 = 181.2 MET!
5th 5% - 9.06 = 172.14 MET!
6th 5% - 8.60 = 163.54

Hi I'm doing good Have a cough and taking my diabetic tussin cough syrup. I was busy with my homework i don't know that what you would call it since I'm an online college student but that is why I did not check in. I check my blood and did do my workout. emoticon

W1D1 FBS:253 Actos, Metformin, Glibizide ER, Byetta !
I did 30 min cardio by working in my garden! Food & fitness tracked, 12 8oz water !

Today we had a nice early walk with the pups 30min. 1 mile walk with the Pups ! 15min. Desk Workout by video. 12 8oz. water! Food & Fitness Tracked !

W1D3 FBS: 205 Actos, Metformin, Glibizide ER, Byetta!
30min. deep water walking ! 12 8oz water ! Food & Fitness Tracked !

W1D4 FBS: 213 Actos, Metformin, Glibizide ER, Byetta ! 12 8oz. water !
Today I have done 30 min. gardening! 30min, 1 mile walking the pups ! Food & Fitness tracked !

W1D5 FBS: 277 Actos, Meformin, Glibizide ER, Byetta !
Today I did 60 min. mowing the lawns! 15min. Desk Workout by Video. 12 8 oz. water!
Food & Fitness Tracked ! Way to hot and my legs are swollen way up !

W1D6 FBS: 216 Actos, Meformin, Glibizide ER, Byetta ! 12 8 oz. water!
45min. 3aerobic walk with Leslie, 30min. heavy cleaning. Weather has cooled way down and now it seems we have gone back to the ice box !

W1D7 FBS: 267 Actos, Meformin, Glibizide ER, Byetta ! 12 8 oz water!
30mins gardening, 30min. 1mile walking the pups, 30min 2mile aerobic intervals walk with Leslie.
It was a great week logged all the food and fitness daily and stay very close to the calorie range. Still have to get the right range of calories to met the fitness minutes that I am doing.
Week 1 is finished and behind me Started at 272.5 ended the week at 265.5 7# lose ! That really is wonderful seeing that it is all water retention from the Actos ! Have to call the Dr about changing the meds to the slow acting insulin he was talking about at our last office visit.

Slept in way late, FBS was 187 at 2:30pm
Ate only protein with very little carbs (3) for lunch
Almost 4 hours later at 187

No exercise today, but plan to walk the RiverWalk tomorrow
Hoping to get up earlier tomorrow

Hi everyone!
I am back again.
Really trying this time.

My BS are totally out of control;
FBS over 200 usually and sometimes into the 300's.
This month's A1c was 8.4!

I ate 46 g carbs for breakfast was at 220 4 hours later ;-p
Dropped to 20 g carbs for lunch, sitting at 201 right now from 188 50 min ago.

Going to stick with under 30 each meal and snack the rest of the day
and see how it goes.
Was up all night and that may be a part of the problem as well.

Began week one. Starting over again after being gone for almost a year and not following what I had learned. Put weight back on. I am here to follow up and continue even if I do accomplish my firt goal. I have been letting Sparkpeople do my menu and have stuck to it. Especially since I am in Fast Break again. I am getting more motivation from reading articles and Sparking with friends. I am cautious to set one goal at a time and doing this one day at a time.

doing week 1. need more veggies, which I love. time has been the factor, or excuse ? recording food takes time, but it sure is helpful. Good knowing others are doing this right along with me.

I started the week on 5/18 and so far so good. Also, been reading the articles and I only have one concern, most of the food listed for diabetics raise my blood sugar, for example, oranges, that's the stuff they give you if you go into hypoglycemia. I know my body by know and I try to steer away from foods that will raise my blood sugar; I keep it on the safe side with low glycemic index food. Does any one have this same problem?

JAVAJOANNE... I am finishing day one myself. I admit it was a bit of a struggle for me. I keep telling myself the cravings will subside a bit as time goes by and my dietary habits change... I need to keep reminding myself I did not get to this weight overnight and I am not gonna lose it overnight either ! LOL....

Ah.... Good to know about the recipe section ! There is so much info on the website I hadn't noticed it ! Cooking up some veggie soup right now to have on hand for those inevitable times when I get hungry. Plus it will help me get more veggies in (not my favorite group of food....lol). I think the Farmers Market may be my new Saturday morning hangout....hahahaha !
