That's great news, Cathy! That's the best kind of achievement: the kind that you can both feel and see. Way to go! ~Anna @Glucerna

I had my endo appointment this morning. My A1c was down to 6.7 from 7.8. I told my doctor all about SP, and he was thrilled. We have talked about the old line diet advice that is put out there by many diabetic educators. He has not see that it works at all. Now that I'm using glycemic index and glycemic loads, my numbers have really gone down. I'm now taking much less insulin, I have no cravings, and I'm rarely hungry. I just have to remember to have a snack in the afternoon and evening to prevent low BS. It's a balancing act. For me the old way doesn't work, but I feel I'm having great success since starting my new regimen.

Wow, I went through yesterday with no great swings in my BS. Very steady. Now, that's a real change for me. No hunger, no cravings. GI works!

I have noticed little changes over the last 4 weeks. Even during the first week when my BS numbers were fluctuating wildly, I felt better somehow. Now I see that my pants and shirts are a little less tight--not a lot, but just enough that it makes me feel prettier. I am taking less insulin. I have to take less to keep from having a low and overcompensating with bad food. I am not feeling hungry at all, and I think it's because of the low-carb program I'm following. I don't deprive myself of lean meats, good fats, fruits and lots of veggies. I don't miss bread, rice, potatoes, cereal. I can't believe I just said that. I have always craved my starches, and I've never been able to get through a meal without it. I tried a piece of stone ground wheat toast the other morning, and my BS went up and I really wanted potato chips for lunch. I've come to realize that I just can't have it. At 65, you would think I could have come to this point sooner. Life is a .. . life is what it is.

Congratulations on noticing positive changes in your body and energy levels. When we only focus on the scale, it's easy to become disappointed and give up. When we have a variety of ways of measuring progress, we can feel good about the changes we're putting in place. Keep up the fantastic positive attitude!

This week I noticed that from the activity I've been doing, I'm more flexible and have more energy. The weight is not coming off as fast as I'd like, but I feel better- physically!! Whatever the end results are, I'm doing my best and thats good enough for me. emoticon
