Thanks for the nice comment on my picture - I have to get a new one - that is about 3 years old - I alternate a couple that I actually bothered to upload on here. Maybe my darling son will take a couple of new ones one of these days.

Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers; you are all right, Meniere's disease does have these symptoms and can also cause deafness; it is probably the number one reason for adults to require cochlear implants. I have not had any more episodes for a few days and am feeling back to normal. Nancy, I like the new profile picture. I need to post one that actually will show me!

Now that I recall, it was Meniere's my colleague had. Sending warm thoughts your direction for a speedy diagnosis and relief.

A friend has a condition called Menieres disease. It causes similar symptoms. It also leaves her VERY drained when she has an episode. Continuing to keep you in my prayers.

Ouch! A coworker experienced this and was absolutely miserable for a long time. I remember her eating small meals, staying away from coffee, and having difficulty with sudden movement in addition to the general dizziness. Remember her gradual return to good health. Whew! Thinking of you.

My symptoms , spinning vertigo" were not from a low blood sugar although dizzyness and nausea can be. I have had surgery on my inner ear, a cochlear and that is probably what is doing it. I see the surgeon for a routine visit on April 1 so will talk to him about it. I checked my BG at the time and it was over 100. This has happened several times this past month. Thank you for the sympathy and encouragement though.

I read everyone's postings with great interest. Wish I had wise words to offer. There were a few times when low blood sugars made me dizzy and nauseated and wiped me out for the rest of the day. Sometimes bs levels were in normal limits for most people but too much of a drop too fast. Once I learned to recognize the signs I drank water and grabbed a granola bar or fruit. Have had the flu a couple of times but not with the extreme symptoms you had. I am sorry for what you have gone through!

Thanks Nancy; feeling much better today and thanks for the prayers. Just hope it doesn't come back again; it was horrible - not my choice of a way to cut back on calories!

Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers; I did manage to eat a little supper and took a few ounces of liquid; I too have CKD and that certainly adds to the problem. I am continuing to sip at some soda as it seems to sit best on my stomach and I actually need the carbs

Had a very bad episode in oct lasting until mid jan with ckd.. I slept 20 out of 24 hours.. when I did take my meds.. took all of them.. know I have to make the attempt with my heart meds.. my dh and ds were taking my blood sugar and was low most of the time.. I got so bad couldn't even keep down an ounce of water. one day in dec my dh had to drag me to my dr and I was scheduled to see my nephro 2 days later where I was found to be severely dehydrated and severely anemic. long story short.. in and out of the hospital for weeks getting rehydrated and iron infusions. so.. answer to your question.. I made the attempt and what got digested within 5 minutes prior to losing them.. I don't know. I spent much of the time pretty much out of it.. (yup I ruined Halloween, thanksgiving, Christmas and new years.)

I have just experienced my 4th spinning vertigo attack with the accompanying nausea and vomiting in about two weeks; this brings up the question of sick days and how to deal with them. On the last day this happened I had taken my Insulin and was having to watch very carefully all day to be sure my blood sugars didn't "bottom out" Today when it was time to take my daily insulin I was actively vomiting so decided to skip it for today. As a type 2 diabetic you can do this without drastic consequences. My sugars today were 90, 110 and 115. I just ate supper and hhavn't checked that one yet. Of course the biggest problem is to stay hydrated which is very difficult when you are very nauseated. Broths and carbonated beverages can help with this as water is hard to get down with nausea. I even drank regular soda as I have always hated artificial sweeteners. I did see the doctor today and he gave me something for the nausea and said I need to see a neurologist if it doesn't get better in a week to 10 days. Of course the medication caused me to sleep right through most of the day so m y total calories for the day are less than 500! Any body else have feedback on how you handle sick days?
