Week 7 Day 1

If this were a marathon, I'd be at mile marker 22 and crawling on my hands and knees! LOL But I'm still here! Last week was like a feeding frenzy for me - I stayed on track with eating healthy foods, and choices recommended here for the most part, but would not allow myself to STOP eating, especially in the evenings! Calories were WAY over my intended 1200-1500 per day.

However, I showed a 2 pound loss this morning from last Thursday. Guess I got control of the calorie issues the last couple of days. Cycles of life - learning to deal. Some days, even with the best intentions, all I can do is observe and analyze what was going on with me "after the fact", when my logical brain is able to re-establish some semblance of control.

I guess that's all part of the lessons we must learn.

Just came back from my dr.'s visit--a1c--6.3 and no more talk of going to insulin. Yay! The cholesterol is down to 159 too. Thanks Sparkpeople!

Woke up early (around 4:15 am) and took my BG. It was 60, so I decided to eat breakfast. I'll start adding a little more carbs to my snack at night. Four hours after eating the carbs, my BG is 112. Lost another 3.5 lbs--both numbers are pleasing results after 7 weeks! Today is the last day of week 7. On to week 8.

FBG is 78 today. I ate dinner earlier than I had been and ate a smaller snack. I don't know if that really made the difference, but I will continue that strategy. Finished my ST and cardio for the day.

FBG is 152 this morning...I took it right after I exercised. The glucose levels usually rise when I exercise plus I had a sandwich after midnight last night. I couldn't sleep and got hungry while I was up. So this is the first day of week 7. I'm looking forward to continuing the challenge.

Drats. I signed in at the beginning then could not do the challenge because I ended up having back surgery number 8! But I am getting better. So I am going to start using all that sparkpeople has to offer once more. I may not have been able to do the challenge justice, but I think I can get a lot of help with my diet and lifestyle in general now that I can move about more.

I started yesterday kind of cruddy, but it ended up well. After the 8 weeks is up I'm going back to the beginning because I've used this time to get my diet in control and begin cardio. I need to redo the strength training.

Part of it is being injuried and unable to do a varied cardio routine.

Checking in for week 7. I am comforted that I already do the tracking of water and veggies. Cardio is still a problem. I just found out that my insurance (Humana) offers free membership in some Fitness clubs. I am going to join pronto.

Judging from the number of new members of this group, we are in a VERY LARGE group.

since joining SP, I have lost nearly 30 lb over 23 weeks and lowered my A1c from 7.9 to 5.5 -- life is good.

Week 7 day 7 - not been a good week been very tired but why don't know. Have been making a determined effort to get 8 hours kip this week and today don't feel to tired so have managed to do some exercise today so a more positive end to the week.

ending week 7 i keep forgetting to check in but it is feelin so great lost 4 inches had lots of walking and swimming plenty of videos this week

Week 7 day 1. I have decided that I will begin this challenge over and over until I reach my goal and maybe even after that. I find it motivating and very helpful.

One thing I don't understand is why do "they" still recommend eating fruit? I've been told by several of my doctors as well as Drs. Mercola, Wolcott, Mendoza (has a free diabetes newsletter and website) & Richard Bernstein (Bernstein wrote The Diabetes Solution and has outlived all predictions) that fruit is no better for me than eating straight sugar. The small amount of fiber and nutrients in fruit are not worth the big sugar spike that damages my organs and systems.

Adopt a homeless pet :)
