Just a couple more days to finish this challenge. I consistently recorded all food and drink. got my FBS more in control and mostly was below 120-125, which is awesome compared to where I was before I started this challenge. With sickness, the workouts were a real challenge but managed to do some sort of exercise from walking the dog, taking a walk, using the workout video, the seated video, and my own custom workout plan. I feel good about what I accomplished.

Sounds like you guys have all done great!!! Good for you. Just being diabetic is enough of a challenge but this has helped us all I think!!! Kudos to you all.

Rather than beating up on myself for what I wasn't able to do during Week 7 round 1 and Week 7 round 2, I'm starting fresh on Week 8 today. Between mother-in-law's stroke and my job as a choir member in a liturgical church, along with other things going, I'm giving myself credit for doing as much as I did. Had to do lots of eating on the run, made mostly healthy choices, but not as well as I'd have done at home, did exercise on the fly whenever I could--squats in the hospital elevator, walking to nearby natural foods cafe, parking far out from the entrance, whatever I could think of while doing something else.

MIL is now in a rehab closer to my home. I've eaten and tracked two good meals and a snack thus far today, done a couple of strength training exercises, and am actually going to squeeze in a short video, 10 min or less, but it's better than nothing.

Progress? Gained 3 lbs. Love how my clothes are fitting. I've stuck with the program as best I could in challenging circumstances. Haven't let things get to me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I snap off 10 things I'm grateful for as fast as I can, one of which is the great folks on this team. Thanks!

I worked hard in the beginning. The exercising was too much as I got bronchitis these last few weeks. I'm finally feeling better and can't wait to get back on track. I did follow the rest of the program. I've lost 13 pounds since Feb. I don't test my blood, but I know I'm eating more healthy so my numbers should go down my next dr. visit. I've been able to feel more comfortable in my clothes and even wear clothes I haven't been able to wear! I plan to continue with the program by starting back through the action steps until I feel like I have everything in place. Thanks for everything.

Switching to more vegetarian. Revamped my kitchen. Not recording food yet. I have phobia on calories and carbs. Just concentrating on wise healthy choices for now. Blood sugar is coming in at low 90's every morn. Energy level is high

lost 15 pounds, doing water aerobics three times a week, eating carefully (and joyfully), my A1c gets recorded next month, but my FBS is consistently down below 120, which is great! I'm very proud of myself for taking such good care!!

I think that I did just fine, on this Challenge !
I really enjoyed going to the Fitness Center, in February ! It was good
to take in the classes that I could ! It was great to use their treadmill, too !
My Long-Term Goal is : To reach my Goal Weight of 140 pounds, by
Christmas, 2012 ! My Action Plan to get there : Exercise , and eat within
my recommended calorie range. I will expand my current walking program,
to include swimming, when our pool re-opens. I will keep abreast of ways
to get back to that Fitness Center, that I was able to travel to (bus), on my own !
When our pool re-opens, I'll be able to get a lot of that front crawl in, that burns
A LOT of calories ! Meanwhile, I'll keep doing the alternating biceps curls,
with the 2-pound weights, and my M.S. stretches, along with whatever cardio,
that I am able to do..!

Have a great summer, everyone !

After a few weeks of horrid internet connection--Finally fixed today!! YES!! Anyhow, I stuck to the 8 weeks plan and added strength training last week, using an at home (kinda antiquated) weight machine. And I added using Coconut oil in my foods and snacks. I read a bunch about it, great all around oil for everything from weight control to hair and skin care and good for migraines! No joke, I was having days and days of migraines then added in coconut oil to diet and they stopped! I plan on keeping the coconut oil and the weight training in my overall plan! My stomach in showing results (flatter) and I feel better! I hit a plateau when I was having allot of migraines and now I am looking forward to over coming it and moving down the scales!

What worked for me was the logging of what I ate, shopping the grocery lists, and eating the meal plan. I have tried to lose weight for the past three years that I have been on Metformin and it is soooo hard. SparkPeople worked for me.
I had surgery on the 9th of Feb. so I really haven't been able to work out. I do walk daily.
Drinking my daily water has been a challenge because I have been out and about so much since the surgery. I have to address that for sure.
For me to lose 4 KG is a push in the right direction and I will continue with the plan.
Thanks to everyone for their support and inspiration. emoticon

Good start. I lose 8 lbs and have been exercising every day. I did 2500 exercise minutes in February and hope to do the same in March. My fasting sugar has been under 100 most days. I have more energy and feel good.

I became more accountable for the choices I make...that is in tracking my food intake I went from 2-3 days a week to seven.
1. looked up foods on the internet to learn their nutrition value instead of guessing.
2 .Increased my energy/strength and flexibility through exercise.
3. Became more confident in my ability to be successful.
4. Lost weight and inches.
5. More focused on health than being skinny.
6. Tracked exercise consistency.
7. Overcome negative talk to quit.
I am still working on getting my blood sugar where I want it to be.

Finished up and doing Jan. Jump Start which continues many steps as this Challenge. Slacked off some at the last as bad Sinus Infection did not help and with the weather and the infection is still lingering.
FBS averages under 150 - 2 hrs after meals and under or at 120 before meals. Weight stable at goal of 115 pounds and have changed some choices of foods for the better.
As long as this challenge is available, I may be back for a refresher challenge.

Lost 9 pounds. FBG came down about 15 pounts on average. My first 7 weeks we're great. Lost it a little at the end. However, I feel like I made some good changes. Even in not doing well at the end, I didn't do badly. I continued to exercise, I just had a more caloric balance so I didn't lose anymore. I plan to continue with these changes.

Gained back 4 lbs. Not good. Will start again tomorrow and try to keep it lighter today. Am having some problems with meds and if I can get that straightened out, it might help. I'm not giving up, I feel a lot better, and don't want to lose that.

Lost 8 lbs. Have actually been staying consistant with the exercise and looking forward to it most of the time. Am learning better strategies and balance.

I have lost a total of 24 1/2 lbs. My exercise is another matter. I would like to try again later and focus more on the exercise part. I am also shooting for another 24 lbs of weight loss. I have gone from 4 Dyglibiride a day to 1 and am hoping to eliminate that in the next few weeks

Oakshaven, Seems like you and me both have had a rough time here at the end. My FBS even went up to 141 but finally down again below 120. Eating has been an issue along with getting to the gym. I do plan on getting to the gym tomorrow and Sunday and putting in my time! Sunday is my best day there as I have plenty of down time to get in there and spend good time with cardio and full body strength training. Need to get to the store tomorrow for food. Nothing much in the house good for a person to eat much less bad for you to eat. But the nice thing is this weekend is mine to do with as I please. Feels good. Will be looking at menus and soups for next week also. And planning what to do for Christmas as far as eating.

During this challenge I did not lose a lot of weight if any but the blood sugars are now under control and that is really what I was after. Long term goal, reduce medicine that I take by getting the weight off and continue to exercise. To enjoy life to my best ability and to smile!!

This thing gave me a SparkTrophy already, although this is only the beginning of Week 8 for me. Unfortunately, I don't feel like I deserve it after falling off the wagon so thoroughly this last weekend. I did well up to then, but stress and over-committment got the best of me, and I went back to all of my old patterns for about three days.

Did better today, ate well through the day, and did an hour on the treadmill at a 5% incline, which this thing tracks as about 600 calories, and a couple strength exercises. That's good, because I didn't do well with dinner again, and am at the top and slightly over my calorie "allowance". Late afternoon and evening are always my most vulnerable times. I am tired and hungry, and all of the restaurants strung out along the road seem to call my name.

I almost gave up this weekend, but got some rest last night and had a better day today, and am back to being able to tell myself that I will NOT go back to where I was again. Even if I just maintain here for awhile, I am a good 20 pounds lighter, and in much better condition than I was four months ago. And I still want to be in One-derland by January 1, so I had better get it together again, hadn't I?

It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.

I finished by staying with it. I didn't let myself get discouraged by any slip ups just resumed and carried on. I learned a lot and most of what I learned was that I can control myself and my condition but it still needs to be consistent for long term gain. I will continue with my quest for control and I will keep my doctor appointments.

Thank you for the challenge! Well worth the effort to continue fighting.

I had to go back to my other diabetic meds as the new ones didn't work right. Gave them several weeks and they didn't work.

I am going to keep on working on it. No problem with portion control and I watch what I eat. Will have to really keep an eye on it due to holidays coming up. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Week 8 Day 7 is done -yesterday! Oh my!

I did lose a few lbs. emoticon I feel I am starting to crave sweet things again. I am looking at sparkpeople recipes to satisfy myself.

If I were to give myself a grade ( I am a teacher) it would definitely not be a high grade.

What helped me the most was the menus in the food tracker. This week I made a personal challenge to walk every day. If I am to do it, I'd darn well better get going! Water aerobics is "my thing." Walking daily would be very good for me, too.

Thank you all! Chris

Looking to get to that part where I can do my own thing without feeling like I am working double duty... Cooking two meals, preparing two lunches, Wondering why he can have white bread and I am on no bread or very little any way when I do have it is whole grain thin sliced.
IT is frustrating but I am coming around...
Hubby is trying to be supportive! However, my parents, are both Diabetic and do not care what they eat many snacks, breads cakes, cookies, it seems to be my fathers favorite meal tea and cake for breakfast, lunch and often times dinner if i cook something he does not want to eat.
Trying to look out for me is hard to change when i was always looking out for the kids. now they are gone its back to me and hubby again.. huge adjustment.... But i am working it out with help from spark and GOD

May your goals be reached, your spirits be high, and your joy be shared.

KAWREN

Support from people we live with is so important. I , finally, have gotten over that. I usually found myself going in the opposite direction of my husband. Now it is a joke. I eat something and say, "Oh you wouldn't want this. It's healthy."

But long ago everything he said and did would effect me. I guess wisdom does come with age. Chris

I have to be diligent about caring for myself. 100 DAYS OF WEIGHT LOSS is a great way for me to keep focused. Day 1 is July 1, 2017. Build habits to produce success. Most of these habits I have at least tried before but did not sustain. First habit: delay eating by using a timer.

Lost track of where I was in the challenge, I lost some weight, Doctors visit for testing in day after thanksgiving.
I work out three days a week intense for me with a 45 min treadmill and weight training Mon, wed, fri. I take a day like Tuesday and track calories but do not hold back on things i want to eat other than measuring a single serving all other days i struggle with keeping things in line.

Parents live here now and they both like their sweets.. makes it hard for me to stay on track. Odd thing is they both are diabetic too but they said at this age(79, 73) they do not care what they eat.. Dad can not swallow many things due to the Muscular dystrophy and MOM well Not sure but they eat lots of cake and cookies and take their meds.. I am trying to stay off meds...

Spouse says I wake him the mornings of my work out but I can not let that bother me I got to keep going.... He tries to get me to eat more too or then he says do you really need that? is frustrating here at home for support but I am glad for spark... it has helped.

May your goals be reached, your spirits be high, and your joy be shared.
Every step either forward or backward is a step... they all cont towards something.

Hard to believe that it has been eight weeks. I have learned that when I exercise it is important that I check my blood sugar before and during so that it does not fall too low. Activity had been a challenge for me and yet having to move all my belongings out of the house so that the repairs can be made has boosted my activity points.

Have a blessed day everyone!

Week 8 Day 1. fbs 7.1 = 127. It has been a good challenge for me. I have major problems working in the excersises but kept going. Nutritionist said 45 carbs are ok. I seen her yesterday and says diet is fine. My weight is very slowly going down and holding. Bonus is that I walk every day for 20 - 30 minutes. I'm going to go back and continue into phaze 3 of the diebetic program and use what I've learned from here and keep going.

Week 8 Day 3 Day 2 was not great, mostly because we went back to school after a week off. Going back is usually stressful, but our administration makes it triply stressful. They pile on the work (paperwork).

Students should be priority but paperwork seems to be the priority. It is very frustrating.

So ... having no time for "me" makes me crave some comfort--and guess where the easiest comfort is found... emoticon .

Unfortunately, I had to stop after the sixth week, I started a third part-time job taking
care of an elderly lady and didn't have the time to finish the challenge. this was only
supposed to be for 6 weeks, which has now turned into 7 weeks with no end in sight.
I love taking care of her but it doesn't leave me with any time for myself yet. Hopefully
there will be another challenge that I can participate in later, I really did enjoy pushing
myself harder thinking of the prize at the end.

Start of Week 8-Day 1.

I work more at exercising and I feel like I am losing. My husband says that he is noticing the differance. He is my biggest chearleader and Motivator. He has also been losing weight along with me. We motivate each other.

I will continue with what we are doing. I seem to have more energy at work and at home. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

WEEK 8 Tomorrow is Day 1

I think I lost 4 lbs. emoticon That is great for me. I have been sparking since 2008 . This menu did something good to my metabolism. Normally, I lose so slowly I don't even notice. I am delighted!
Down is good! At age 64 with fibromyalgia, sticking to a food plan is next to impossible for me. When I get fatigued, I lose motivation and eating feels good. I don't have the energy to seek out really active pursuits. I do water aerobics 3X a week. I teach full time. And I am the sole caregiver to my handicapped DH. I definitely run out of energy daily.

So 4 more lbs. down is awesome for me. emoticon

I've had a few spikes in my glucose levels (usually by consuming too many carbs at one time), but event ose times have been a learning experience for me. Overall though, my levels are stable and I have learned a lot over the past 8 weeks. I've had some lapses but quickly recover - partly because I feel so much better when I am eating right, that it makes no sense to eat poorly. Still working on replacing bleached flour products with whole wheat products, but I am getting there! I think my doctor will be very pleasantly surprised at my next checkup.

Thank you for having a diabetic program on SP which has helped me to stay on track. This morning my FBS was 116 which is the lowest it has been a while. I plan to stay with the changes I have made in these past 8 weeks. Thank you.

This has been a wonderful challenge. I intend to keep up with all the things I have done these 8 weeks. I lost 17 lbs, several inches and at least 1 clothing size. I am seeing an endocrinologist and a diabetic nutritionist Friday so hopefully I can learn more. I will continue to log my food. I will continue with my exercise. (In a few days. Sunday I fell down a flight of stairs and am very sore right now but intend to get back in the game soon). Oh and my Sparkpeople Cookbook is on its way! So thanks Sparkpeople! You work! You ROCK!

This is the last day of the challenge for me. I want to keep up with what I've started so where do I go from here. There should be a second phase to the challenge. I've gone down a pant size and feel really good about that.

Thanks Coach Nicole, those workout videos are awesome and they work.
