Week 8 Day 5 finished. Had a great day. Rode the bike for 20 minutes. Tracked the big three. Read several positive articles that have spurred my on to think positive and get back on track.

Week 8 Day 4 finished. Still having a hard time getting back on track. I am still entering food and water everyday. I rode the bike and walked for 10 min each. Will continue to think of positive things I'm doing.

Saturday week 8 day 7
Rough - I had 2low blood sugar sessions today and needed to eat sugar to recover quickly. That was after I took half of the prescribed diabetes meds. My body is changing so quickly. from the careful diet and increased exercise. I'm testing my numbers several times a day and adjusting my meds and food as needed. It's taking a lot of energy to stay on top of what is needed.
I got in a medium speed walk for 30 min.

Food on plan but I had a low if 72 and had to eat extra with my afternoon snack.because I had a personal training work out session at 4pm.
The workout was ok: 30 strength, 60 uprite.bike intervals, 10 stretch.

Week 8 day 4
I didn't work out Tuesday. I'm struggling with not wanting to drive over the hill to my gym just to get cardio. My home exercise equipment doesn't work with my ankle cast. I'm still getting cardio 5 days a week but its a mental fight. I won the battle today and went to gym.

Foods good
Blood sugar staying reasonable
Sunday's HA1C was down .5 from last fall. My doctor is happy with that but not so happy with me going off the cholestrol meds (my decision).

Wow, it has been a journey and the changes have been great for me. The tracking has helped me to keep my food within the targeted ranges for diabetes management. I do strength training 2 days a week and 3 day for cadio. I love all of the information and it has made a difference in my blood level. Thanks SP emoticon

39 min cardio
Food no bueno- still within calorie ranges but the choice of regulat pizza for dinner was not good for me. All tracked.
I had a fasting haic blood test this morning and will know results Monday.

I have completed the first 7 wks. I had medical issues that stopped my exercise but I am back into it. I am not completely back where I was but I am low in iron so I am supposed to ease back into it. I have used my eliptical a few times in the last week. I am also watching what I eat and doing weights when I can. I have had more red meat than I usually eat trying to raise my iron. I am considering this my wk 8 day 1. Looking forward to finishing my challenge and using what I have learned in this challenge. Thanks SP :)

Week 8 Day 5. Can't believe it, almost done. The time has gone fast, and in a way I will be glad this challenge is over. I am sore, arthritis is kicking my butt. Counting calories, staying in guide lines, my sides and back hurt from arthritis and exercise ball. But hanging in there.

WooHoo to YOU ! Hitting the nail on the head always feels good. And that is how I have been looking at this challenge. Hit the nail on the head and taking back control of my body.
Eating healthy, doing strength trainning and cardio so that I could burn off some of the fat that I have been carring around!
Yes, keep in touch by no means have we come to place that gentle encouragement won't be a big help.
Planning for a family event today and having some trouble putting it together so that it works out best for the menu plan not to affect the progress of lowering my BS. Yet, I am planning on going off the plan long enough to enjoy a piece of Wedding Cake. or 50th Ann. Cake !

Week 8, day ?Glucose was 127 but that was not fasting. Have really been watching the simple carbs and I think I have been doing well with that. I did an hour or watercise. Total lost was 5#. Will be getting bloodwork done in a couple weeks and will check the a1c then. I really backed down on documentation of my dietary intake, but I was faithful about watching what I eat. I did splurge occasionally, but got right back on track. The book I read really was informative and I think it will help me control my diabetes.

Kaywebb and GrandmaJo, you have both been a great support system. Hope we can continue to encourage one another.

CPOPKIE: So happy to see you back! i just can't believe that tomorrow is the last day of the challenge! I have been following the 30 Day Cure for Diabetes. Totally gives you a side of the story that you will not get from the medical field. I'm so tired of hearing all those commercial that tell you that you can eat what you want and still have control of your diabetes. Sure you can, all you have to do is take more forms of medication. As I found out over the years if you don't cut the carbs down you can control things with the meds, but then they stop working and you then have to start on the insulins. Then what? Higher doses! I have been so good and I have not had any cravings for anything! I have over the 8 weeks been able to cut my insulin dose in 1/2 ! The only thing that we have not cut back on is the long acting Lantus ! Maybe next month after I see the Endo, we can start cuting that back.

Once again so great to see you here I was getting worried. Hope that you had a wonderful time on vacation? You're doing fantastic and the more we all learn about diabetes the better
we will be feeling and the stronger we will get at sticking to the routines that we have found that works for each of us.

Congratulations, GrandmaJO! How cute!!!

Gosh, I have been out of town and had no internet or phone service so I am out of the loop! I tried to watch what I ate, and my weight was not up so that is great. Read the book, " Sugar Busters" and it was very informative about how sugar effects the body and fat storage. I did a good bit of walking but no official exercise in almost a week.
Glucose 117. Am hoping to have that continue to go down.

Oh my ! What a little cutie ! There is nothing like a new baby in the family. Wishing family and little one all the best.

Week 8 Day 6 FBS: 97 Woohoo! Have once again finished my workouts and ready to start clipping the bushes on the property.

Have just looked back at the goals that I had set for the end of the 8 weeks.
Decrease my A1C from 7.7 which on my last one a couple of week back it was down to 7.6.
So I know that I'm heading in the right direction. Because my Avg. BS for last 7 days is 106=6.2 last 14 days was 110=6.3 & last 30 days was 124=6.5 ! This has really helped me get a better handle on diabetes !
I wanted to work my way back up to doing 60 mins of cardio daily and I have done that !
And I wanted to lose 8 pounds over the 8 weeks. And unless I really do something stupid today I will have met that goal also ! Success feels so good !

hi long 1 1/2 for me -- my dil had her baby --my only granddaughter --- so I have been at the hospital -- of course not good eating not good sleeping ---lots of walking and stair climbing.. and water drinking.. so that was good.. dil come home tomorrow so back to my healthy routine tomorrow..

Week8 day3 FBS: 130 and I know why kashi packaging leading me to believe that I was getting 17g of fiber, NOT !

I Have done my exercise this morning and ready for an active day in the garden and playing witih the PUPS. Hope that everyone is doing well. Miss hearing from the others working on week 8 hope that you are just lost as to where to daily check in vs. quit so close to the end of the challenge.

Wasn't sure where to log in daily seeing that the sticky topics didn't cover it! So I was up on the After the 8 week so that is where I have week 8 day 1 & 2 and tomorrow I will come down here and continue my week.

eight week first day

not good spent most of the day at hospital for baby doctor appointment.
no food and had to buy water --guess you always hope that the appointment will go fast.. not!

There are many great challenges. I have kept all of mine, to help mix up my exercise routines.
As you are currently looking for a new challenge, you might take a look at challenge central.
I am always open to some suggestions if you some ideas.

I have spent the day jumping through the hoops in order to get to a specialist in order to become healthy enough to begin my activity routine once again.

FBS 110. Worked out at Curves yesterday. Increased time and added a few moves...hula. I worked out in the afternoon after spending the day with friends. I almost talked myself out of it. Old story" I am tired. It will feel so good to go home and take a nap." However I talked myself into going and am glad I did. I view it as taking care of me! I am still working on lowering my FBS as close to 100 as possible.

FBS 118. worked out at Curves yesterday. Plan to do so again today. I focused on portion control at my doll club last night. Amazingly, I did not indulge in chocolate cream pie, one of my favorites. I was surprised that I didn't focus on the pie while others ate it. I was surprisingly calm emoticon

I am still jumping through the hoops of the healthcare system in order to get the issues which are holding me back resolved. If I can ever get there I am hopeful I will soon be back to resuming more activity. I am unable to even cook for myself so I am left with making the best choices possible. Today, as I continue to run into obstacles I am really working at not feeding those emotions.

Week 8 emoticon FBS 124 higher than I would like. Will work to lower it. I will work out at Curves today. I read the articles on managing diabetes.

Week 8 Day 2
Completed cardio today. No strength training. Food tracked Pleased with balance. Even sodium was in line. Continue reviewing my diabetes information. Reflecting the foundation I want to build in order to remain healthy and planning the steps I need to strengthen my resolve.
