Halfway through week 8 and I succumbed to my cravings of tacos....I paid for it yesterday with a postprandial of 145...blah. Thankfully, the Dr. said the baby still looks good and one meal of bad blood sugar will not cause lasting damage. Just 10 more days, Lord willing!! So thankful for this challenge to inspire and suggest different exercises. I become so bored with just walking :-) I think even after delivering the baby, I will continue to follow the challenge...I have only gained 5 pounds this pregnancy and will surely fit into my regular clothes in no time as long as I don't go crazy with carbs and sugar after she is born :-)

FBS this morning was a bit high at 148. I blame it on my hubby since he went to Subway and brought back a raspberry cheesecake cookie (my favorite). I have done so well not craving sweets and junk but one look at that cookie and I was done for. :) But that is okay, I will turn things around today. I have lost 22 pounds so far since April 11th and am feeling so good. This morning I put on a pair of jeans and they practically fell off of me. I was able to get into an old pair of size 18 jeans!! emoticon

I will be starting the 8 week challenge over again next week. I need to keep going with this. Congrats to everyone who has completed the 8 week challenge and good luck to you all!

Week 8-Day 7

I did it! Finished the challenge. 8 weeks makes new habits for me. I will keep working out and trying my best to make healthy food choices.

My goal is to loose 30 pounds by my birthday in August and I am half way there! Once I obtain that goal I still have more to get rid of but that will be a nice "chunk" gone, lol.

This team is awesome, great support.

I am repeating this week. Eating and BS have been okay but I wasn't feeling well for several days so the exercise was spotty. I'm going to give it another week to ensure I get all the workouts in.

Jilly, congratulations on the weight loss. Hope your shoulder gets better. I know an injury can really impact a workout.

Week 8 - Day 6
almost done with this challenge! Lost two pounds this week. All in all I am down 15 pounds since I started which is wonderful!

BS was a little high this am but I worked last night and ate when I got home and when I do that it tends to run a little higher than normal. Try not to but I don't really get a chance to stop for dinner at work.

Plan on doing cardio today along with some ST. My shoulder is acting up, very painful so I have to be careful. Last time I went to the ortho she said it may be a rotator cuff problem which I don't need so I will be holding off on the upper body or doing some big modifications.

Week 8 Day 4
Did 3 mile brisk walk with Leslie Sansone. Love this DVD it has 5 diff walks you can combine along with ab, core and upper body segments, warm up and cool down and a full body stretch. You can do something different every day.

Week 8- Day 3 FBS 97

I didn't forget the challenge, still going strong. Busy with job interviews and, yes, WORK! Finally got some hours from my per diem job.

Been mixing up my cardio this week and trying to make healthy food choices. For ST I am doing JessicaSmithTV exercise for apple shapes on YouTube.

Feel better Carol.

Loving the program. I will not know my 8 week weight loss until April 28th when I see the doctor. I have been feeling much, much better and have exceeded my exercise goals each. I have been well under calories and carbs each day. One thing though......miss potatoes and red meat.

Overall, BS nos are coming down, exercising 4-7 days a week a minimum of 25 minutes, eating within calorie range daily but some issues eating in the right proportional as I always seem to have eaten all of something (fat, carb or protein), within range on something else and still have something under. I have joked with my husband that I need to eat a stick of butter to meet goals

The is the second time I've done this challenge. I repeated it because, although I learned a lot about myself, I felt there was still a lot more out there. I was right. These 16 week have been terrific, and I feel that I am ready to move on. 8-)

Checking in. So far so good. Got in all the exercise. Doing well with the water. It helps that it's 100+ out. LOL. A bit overloaded with stress. Again. But I got more sleep last night so I feel pretty good today. Just ate lots of veggies for lunch.

Hope you're all doing great!

Week 8 Day 1 for me. Weighed today and gained 1.5 lbs. So, there's a reason to be more vigilant. Had a great breakfast. Numbers before and 2 hrs after were both 96,

I suspect this is just water. Last week I had a huge drop so who knows if this is just compensation.

Took my monthly 13 body measurements and found I've lost inches in most areas but went up a little in the waist--lending to the water weight theory.

Glad to be here! A little scared I'll revert once the challenge is done.

Week 8 Day 1 - fbs was 118 this a.m. My blood sugars still are all over the place - most of the time within range but occasionally they will shoot high and then come crashing down. Last night they plummeted 30 points in just 10 minutes. It made me feel very shaky. I stopped the plummet by having some protein to try and even things out.

Moomshine; I have the same problem with early morning BS being high. I have found that it helps to eat something at 4 AM when I wake up hungry and my BS is at it's lowest. I just make a piece of toast and sleep a lot better because of it. When I take my pre breakfast blood sugar 3 or 4 hours later it will be with high normal limits at about 110. It really doesn't matter that your FBS are a little high as long as they are down during the day as the average is what counts. By the way, this is called the "dawn phenomen" and is quite common.

Hey MOOMSHINE, I really like a strength training video on sparkpeople. It is the 9 minute chair workout. You need dumbbells and it goes very quickly. I did it twice and I felt pretty good-- maybe a bit sore the next day- but not bad.

Cardio really is the best for out of whack blood sugars. Also if you drink a lot of water after something naughty it will help with blood sugars. I have seen that trick in a few places and watched my DH do that.

Do what works. It is good to try different things but you know your body best. I am done with this challenge. See you out and about on the boards. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Wk 8, day 4+, fbs 134. Hi, CJ. 8-) I hate strength training, so when I can't make myself do it, I'll just do 30 minutes of cardio, and wave my arms about. My sugars were so out of whack, that I've been forced to do some strict monitoring. My nutritionist said that I can eat just like everybody else, only less. Wrong-O! These 8+ weeks have taught me better. 1300 (max) cals, and 150 (max) carbs lets ME lose 1 lb per wk, and keeps my sugars in the range. It's hard to just eat "less than what everybody else does" and stay within those limits. Yes. I want cheese with my whine. Have a great weekend!

Week 8 day 9 I have gotten through the week doing every other day strength training and every day with cardio. Still working on the calorie range boundaries. I just have to walk away from it.

Glad you had time with family. I am also glad you conquered the virus and are up and running again Moomshine. I have no doubt you will deal with that pound and make it go away emoticon

I don't have a reasonable excuse as to why it has taken me 3 starts to week 8. But I am here now and working it.

Week 8 Day 6 So yesterday I was in range and did cardio. Today I will do cardio and strength training. I will work hard at being in calorie range. Good video on spark coach yesterday about catching yourself and stopping when you go astray. I will work at that today and see if I am successful. See you tomorrow.

Well here it it the 8th of April already. This year is a quarter over already. This is my Week 8 Day 4. I have strength trained on Saturday and again today. I did cardio Fri., Sun, and Monday. I am doing my cardio on the recumbent exercise bike because of some issues with my back and knee. Still looking for the air pump for my stability ball. Food is going well. I went a little over yesterday. We went to our neighbors for dinner. Vegetarian pizza and apple pie. Not the healthiest I've ever eaten. But it has its good points too. Onward to finish week 8.

Week 8 Day1 ---Take 2
I am determined to finish this up the right way. I am going to get the strength training in which is what my block is all about. I am doing everything else. I wanted to do the stability ball workout provided and I have a ball but it needs more air. I can't figure out how to add air. I am on it today. I will figure this out and to these workouts or something else that will work. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.

Week 8, Day 2. On my way out the door, but need to start thinking about what happens at the end of these 8 weeks, since I still have a few sets of 20 lbs to lose. Thinking. Thinking. Thinking.

Week 8, day 1. Weigh Day - Down 13 lbs. emoticon Sugars're a little high -- too much stress this week. Tracking is good. If I lose a pound a day, I'll meet my goal. 8-)

Week 8 Day 1. I am starting week 8 today. I should have checked in last Thursday and did not. So I will begin today. I continue to track food and exercise. I am doing spark coach. I am testing a few times a week as prescribed by my doctor. So far I have brought my triglycerides down to a normal range. Blood sugars remain in range. Weight is still coming off very slowly if at all. See you tomorrow! emoticon

Week 8 Day 6 finished. Did the big three by tracking food, water and exercise. I am still reading articles on positive thinking and visualizing positive outcomes. This is something I forget after I have been working on changing my lifestyle. I need to keep reading articles and success stories to keep on track. I have lost 8 pounds so far which is not as much as I would like but it is better than not losing.

Week 8, day 1. The last 2 weeks have been a bit frustrating as according to the scale I'm not dropping any weight even though I've been very very good at following my allotted calories. The consolation is that my clothes are fitting differently and I was able to buy a size smaller pants finally. Maybe I'm hitting the point where I am gaining more muscle? My husband did a really good job talking me down yesterday and I am feeling better about it today. I'm not going to quit! I feel much amazing and I'm going to lick this thing once and for all!
