What do you think of the main character? I love Dixie. She has experienced an unbelievable loss and is picking herself up and trying to move on. I love how she has simplified her life.

Do you think you could be friends with him/her? Perhaps not. She is a little too fragile.

Does the main character resemble anyone in your family? No, although we have had some unexpected deaths.

What did you think of the plot? Lots of false trails. I read this several years ago so I knew most of the plot.

Did it flow or seem to lag? It flew. This is a fast, interesting read with lots of humor and insight.

What secondary character was your favorite? Cora Mathers without a doubt. She's the perfect substitute grandmother for Dixie.

Would you like to visit the place the story takes place? Absolutely.

How did you like the ending? It was satisfactory. The bad people were caught, the innocent came out okay. And I'm glad that Ghost found a home.

What else did you find interesting or not in the story? fewterers are keepers of greyhounds.

What do you think of the main character?

I agree with Miller; Dixie was very real. I could picture her as she went about her daily routine, and I could empathize with her as she dealt with loss and fear. Her appreciation of her brother, Michael, and his partner Paco was touching.

Do you think you could be friends with him/her? Yes. With Dixie what you see is what you get. My kind of girl.

Does the main character resemble anyone in your family? Absolutely not.

What did you think of the plot? Funny, but I thought BUMMER when you chose this book. I thought it would be cutesy. Much to my surprise I found it an easy read with a swift and engaging plot and a discussion of some real human challenges. Dealing with death of loved ones and one's sexuality is right down there in the nitty gritty.

Did it flow or seem to lag? The plot flowed quite well.

What secondary character was your favorite? Phil.

Would you like to visit the place the story takes place? Not particularly.

How did you like the ending? It was all right. Nothing special and nothing to promote further thought.

What else did you find interesting or not in the story? I really liked the interplay of the animals with Dixie. Very cute.

What do you think of the main character?
She seemed very human, battling the pain and rage from her past. She could also be quite sassy at times. Overall, I liked her.

Do you think you could be friends with him/her?
I honestly don't know. We have a few things in common, but it didn't seem like she wanted to make friends necessarily.

Does the main character resemble anyone in your family?
Not really.

What did you think of the plot?
I thought it was pretty interesting, although I figured out who the murderer was early on. I was surprised by who ordered the beating, though, because it was unthinkable to me.

Did it flow or seem to lag?
I think it flowed.

What secondary character was your favorite?
Probably Phillip (Surprisingly, I didn't find her brother Michael, or Paco or Guidry to be very compelling characters - at least not yet - maybe if I read another of the series).

Would you like to visit the place the story takes place?
Yes - I love to visit anyplace near the ocean.

How did you like the ending?
It was okay, but I think it could have been better. For some reason, I didn't really buy her reaction to Guidry's embrace (seemed premature to me) and the end of the last chapter was quite sad, but I suppose that's appropriate to the overall series story line.

What else did you find interesting or not in the story?
I liked the whole "pet sitter" theme - I liked reading about the animals and her interactions with them. I didn't like the in-depth descriptions of the blackmail materials - ugh.
