The challenge will run from WEDNESDAY, JULY 3 through TUESDAY, JULY 30 (with the last
week's totals due on WEDNESDAY, JULY 31).

Please sign up by FRIDAY, JUNE 28; however, you can join later and will be placed on a team (typically the one with the least number of members).

NOTE: SOMETIMES THINGS COME UP THAT PREVENT YOU FROM PARTICIPATING SO, IF AFTER SIGNING UP OR DURING THE CHALLENGE YOU DECIDE NOT TO CONTINUE, SEND ME Team Leaderís Name (Insert Team Leaderís Username) A SPARK-MAIL SO THAT I CAN REMOVE YOU FROM THE LIST OF CHALLENGE PARTICIPANTS AND ALSO, AS A COURTESY TO YOUR TEAM, PLEASE LET THEM KNOW AS WELL.

emoticon emoticon We are doing a monthly theme to the BSGs to help guide those new to this journey or remind those that have been on it for some time. This will help us learn more about healthy lifestyle change as well as prompt discussion.
emoticon JULY FOCUS: 20 Minute Meal

Shoveling down the food means lots of extra calories in a short amount of time, because you don't allow your body time to register that it no longer requires food. What is the effect of those extra calories on your weight? It promotes weight gain and makes you feel out of control of your eating habits.

SparkPeople says that deliberately slow down and make eating a very deliberate event - focus on the taste and how your mouth feels with each bite, and enjoy every morsel. It takes about 20 minutes between the time you start to eat and the time your brain gets the signal that you are full. If you eat very quickly, it is easy to overeat, especially if you are with slower eaters and you continue to nibble until they are finished. If you eat most of your meals in 20 minutes or less, this could be a problem for you.

Have fun trying something new - eat with a smaller utensil - salad fork, small spoon, chopsticks.

We will be using the following template (bonus points sections may be added some weeks).
They will consist of the following:

PART 1 - Chat Room and Goal Setting: 750 points possible
PART 2 - Fitness: 1 point per minute (MAXIMUM OF 200 POINTS PER DAY)
PART 3 - Health/Nutrition: 1 POINT per OUNCE of water you drink each day.
PART 4 - Blog: 200 points
PART 5 Ė Interact with BSG team participants: 10 points each (MAXIMUM OF 25 POINTS PER DAY)
BONUS A: Congratulate the winners from the previous week
BONUS B: Score 5 points/meal when you eat your meal in 20 minutes or more - MAXIMUM 15 points per day.
BONUS C: Each week you get 10 points for each BSG team memberís blog you respond to
BONUS D: Have your points totaled on time: 100 points
