I was thinking during the week about why, despite all my best intentions, I end up making bad choices. By chance, I came across this story in a completely unrelated forum. It really resonated with me:

There once was a young boy, who had just gotten in trouble with his parents. He went to his grandfather to seek advice and said, "I just don't understand. I want to do good things, and sometimes I do bad things and I just don't know how to stop myself. What should I do? How do I change?"

The grandfather thought about it for a time and said, "Inside every person, there are two dogs, fighting. One is the good dog, who helps us do good things in the world, and the other is the bad dog, who helps us do things which cause harm."

The boy asked, "Well, which dog wins?"

To which the grandfather responded, "which dog are you going to feed?"

I guess the story reminded me that I need to commit more, and invest more in myself; the me that I want to be. Every good thing I do on this path makes me stronger.

The people who succeed aren't the ones that never fall down, they're the ones that always get back up.

"One has to remember that every failure can be a stepping stone to something better." Col. Harland Sanders

It would be wonderful if commiting to this journey was enough to mean success. However almost all of us will have set backs, we'll have failures, we may even self-sabotage. The important thing is to use those failures as a stepping stone to future success. This week try to think of a failure you've had, and how you can turn it around to mean success. If you will, share it with the group. Your failure may be someone else's also, and your words may be the inspiration they need.
