Joyce, I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing a lack of joy. I have been there, and know how awful it can be. Many hugs to you!

I've been having a hard time sleeping for a while and am in pain from my neck/should/back. I have a high pain tolerance, but I'm being worn thin by it's constance and by the time the girls get home from school I am easily irritated.

I see the irritation as fiery orange, like bay leaves, needing a slow simmer to bring out the full flavor but with sharp edges and a pungent aroma. I'm hoping the meds I'm taking and the doctor I'm working with can figure it out soon, I'm getting really worn out from it!! I don't like being irritated!

Thank you for sharing, Kari

I am experiencing a 'Lack of Joy' ... mint green finely shredded leaves with a wonderful aroma.
Yesterday I Selected my next pair of glasses..but felt no joy in it.

Irritated. I'm in pain and after a full day of barely any sleep for weeks and days of pain from my neck/back, I get irritated really easy by the end of the day. I see it as a mustard yellow color and small shards of crystallized rocks, with sharp edges.

At the urging of my therapist , I'm taking time for self care every day, or trying to, I don't alway get to it in till my before bed routine. During my before bed routine, I journal, do a brain dump, and start on my to do list for the next day. I see that as self care because it helps ease/soothe my mind. I also take a melatonin (turns out, you are supposed to take it about an hour before you want to go to bed so that it relaxes you to sleep, it is not a sleeping pill, it helps you sleep well and relax you - got that from a pharmacologist friend).

Nicely worded!

My elementary years were covered with a gray-brown lumpy 'gravel' of loneliness. I was at a boarding school in Nigeria where my parents were Missionaries. I was not popular with staff or peers; I could go weeks, months without a kind word or touch.
I still fight loneliness and 1) this Spark People group is important to me.

2)In my early 60s I discovered a free on-line course 'live your truth.com' which has helped me replace many boarding school left overs with thoughts, words, actions, clothes choices more in keeping with my natural self course.liveyourtruth.com/dyt

I picture anger as a bright bold red color like a spicy pepper. My anger has not been in a little "just get a pinch" bowl. My anger has been in a big ol' container with a shaker on top. I picture myself shaking it like a container of parmesan cheese and it getting everywhere.

I need to focus on some of the sweeter spices, I mean...feelings. emoticon

Note from the Goodie sent out:
These spices are divided into small containers....as are our feelings. Hopeful, irritated, sad, love, comfort, fear, anger, loneliness, restless, anxious, calm and so many more.
Like spices, feelings keep our lives interesting.

But it might be worth considering what is our dominant feeling? Am I happy with this? Do I need to focus on some of the lesser feelings a bit? Pray about this and share on this new "Spice" discussion thread.
