Yes- Dr. Greger has done as usual great research. Keto does not cure it. It is a good explanation-the wheelchair one.

This is from National Institute of health and shows how following a whole food plant based like Furhrmans+ Greger and all advise helps also with heart and kidney issues that arise with type 2 diabetes as well ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC546

The keto diet has been beneficial for kids with epilepsy but there have been health issues as well as deaths associated with it. A diabetic could see it as a way of eating because of the diabetes but there will be health risks- although if it is a person who has food addiction to processed carbs then it is a tough choice as eating keto eliminates all carbs- good and bad and therefore weight loss and all the benefits come from that..but as Dr. Greger says it is not a cure.

-but it is complex

"The reason keto proponents claim they can “reverse” diabetes is that they can successfully wean type 2 diabetics off their insulin. That’s like faith healing someone out of the need for a wheelchair by making them lie in bed the rest of their life. No need for a wheelchair if you never move. Their carbohydrate intolerance isn’t gone; their diabetes isn’t gone. It could be as bad or even worse. Type 2 diabetes is reversed when you can wean people off insulin eating a normal diet like everyone else—then and only then do you not have diabetes anymore. A true diabetes reversal diet is practically the opposite of a ketogenic diet; diabetics off their insulin within a matter of weeks, eating more than 300 grams of carbs a day."
