Day 41 - Motivation is a Choice

Happiness is a choice, a lot of events during our day require a choice.
How we make our choices and what we choose of course influences what is going to happen next.

Motivation is a Choice
How do we motivate ourselves?

Set a goal - plan how to reach the goal, what to do, when to do it.
Plan the next day ahead of time - go to bed knowing your parade of events and activities for the next day - pay attention, be mindful of how you spend your time - everyone has the same amount of time in the day. Take care of yourself and who you are responsible and have fun !!

Sounds so preachy. I could go on, I will stop now. I know a lot of platitudes on the subject of self-motivation. My current one is - If you're tired of starting over, stop giving up. I don't want to start over.

June -- Pacific Time Zone
Where you end up is more important than how fast or where you start out.
- Improved fitness and nutrition, energy and confidence are my rewards.
It is our choices...that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.
A PH (personal high) is the main goal, a PB is the sometime icing on the cake.
Never underestimate the inevitability of gradualness.
Sopra le nebbie delle valle e le vicende della vita sorge una promessa di luce e serenita.

Motivation is a choice
Each day is an opportunity to choose how to be active. Start the day moving. Being motivated to achieve steps. The day can be a blessing when action is accomplished and the body has moved successfully.

~ in your notebook, write the words "Motivation is a choice." Focus on accepting and believing this.

~ write down a few tricks and ideas that have helped boost your motivation in the past.
Read books and quotes that are uplifting.
Give myself a pep talk.
Remind myself that motivation doesn't last, that it actually discipline I need... and that discipline is what keeps me going even when I'm not feeling motivated.

~ do at least one of these today. For example, you might set your exercise shoes in front of the door to help motivate you to take your walk.
I plan on re-starting my exercise tomorrow and will plan for that success tonight.

~ Renee ~

Turn your magic on.

Life is all about choices. I choose to be healthy and focus on me. I choose to be committed vs interested.

Having said that - it isn't always easy. But if I do remain focused I do make the right choices. I've been working harder on exercise. Dug out a yoga book over the weekend and keep it by my 'morning coffee chair' in the sunroom. That way I can also begin my day with stretches. I'm being 'good to myself!'

Day 41 - Motivation is a choice!

Tricks & Ideas to boost motivation in the past -

This summer I decided to reward my efforts by buying something for me. I bought a pair of earrings that I wear most days for losing 10 pounds. When I see them in the mirror while washing my hands, they remind me of my success and make me feel like I can lose weight. I bought a bracelet last week to reward for consistency, and I have planned for a new necklace when I get to the 20 pound goal.

I'm also using the Dot Calendar idea now. It keeps me honest. A green star lets me know that I stayed on track that day.

People are very important in this journey. I was meeting and praying with a friend about weight loss once a week. We stopped when our lives got busier. She is not so motivated now, so I have not initiated re-establishing that. This team has been my source of encouragement.

Day 41 — Motivation is a choice
Finding motivation each day is my choice!
Finding motivation day after day, year after year is my choice!
Staying in groups that encourage daily motivation is my choice!
If I really want to go through my life being healthy, the choices I make are what matters!

Staying motivated seems harder when I apply it to my exercise choices.
My life will be much better when I choose to take a walk every day.
My life will be much better when I choose strength-training exercises every week.
My life will be much better when I choose to practice yoga every day.

Day 41, 100 days Motivation is a choice

Motivation is a choice and I try to choose it every day!

Today I chose to tidy my garden as the weather is better than it has been recently. My dh has been called into work but I still choose to be positive and not diisappointed!

Recently I have been chosing to follow the narrow road, to plan well, keep my food diary up to date, choosing to drink plenty of water, to eat what I planned chosing when to exercise, I am choosing to go to Weigh In timorrow hopefully. emoticon

Even chose to speak in my usual friendly way to the visiting Jehovah Witness today emoticon

Linda writes: "Motivation affects everything! From staying on your diet to cleaning your house, it provides the power behind all of your actions and helps you follow through with good intentions. Motivation becomes the push that helps you get things done."

I was introduced to Bullet Journals by fellow Sparker, Susan (FOCUSONME57) who used to lead this team. It has become part of my life now, and making that daily list of tasks I want to complete has been a powerful way to get past the procrastination hump that sometimes holds me in a state of inertia!

Spark's advice to do JUST 10 MINS has also been a wonderful tool for me. Knowing that making the effort to do just a 10 min walk even, it still better than sitting doing nothing - and often it leads to more.

My vision board - also something I learned from Spark People - is also a great motivator; it's there on my bedroom wall and I see it when I'm getting dressed. I love it.

And by doing the 100 Days books over and over again, I've changed my language from 'should' and 'ought' to 'choose' - that's amazingly powerful too! If I get up in the morning and DON'T feel like running, for example, I know that I'm CHOOSING not to run. That often leads to me changing my mind, and CHOOSING to run anyway! Once I get going, I love it!

This meme is a different take on 'choosing' which I like in relation to food!

Day 41, 100 days Motivation is a choice

Motivation is a choice and I try to choose it every day! Today I chose to go to my aqua class even thought I didn't feel my best/a bit tired and it was VERY cold outside.

I also chose what I ate today, I chose when to exercise, I chose not to feel guilty about any poor food choices but to move on, I chose "to do" and not just to "try to" as Linda original tells us to Decide. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Motivation is a choice.

I'm a day late but decided to post anyway.

Yesterday morning (Saturday) I had my alarm set and my clothes laid out to attend the Insanity and strength classes at the Y. It is so easy when that alarm rings, to turn it off and settle back down in bed. I know though that getting up and just doing what I had planned the night before makes my day SO much better once it's done. It is a choice to do something I don't really want to do in that moment of drowsiness -- because I know how great I will feel later. The Y kind of messed me up when the early Saturday spinning class had to be cancelled due to losing their instructor. I've worked it out the best I can by attending the Insanity class (that is way too high impact for me) and modifying. I can still get a fairly good cardio workout that is definitely throwing some moves in there that I don't normally do. Then I stay for the strength class that I consider to be a bit easier than the ones I attend (and prefer) during the week. This routine starts the weekend off emoticon

Motivation is a choice

Today I had already decided I would run after work. I set my clothes out - including wet & wild-weather gear due to the conditions - before I went to work.

On the way home from work, buffeted by the wind, I wondered how I could wriggle out of it! When I got home and saw my running clothes sitting there - I put them on, and went out for a run.

I chose to do it.

I search for motivation, hold on and work hard not to let go!! It feels good. It isn't always easy but it's for me. This year is easier than last year. This week is easier than last week. Now - during the holidays - motivation is extremely important.

Well said Maribeth and Phyllis! emoticon emoticon

Another eye opening, gem of a lesson from Spangle when she states, "you create it yourself through your thoughts, your self-talk, and your attitude."

My thoughts about motivation haven't changed from my 12/16/17 post. To paraphrase, "It's not always easy, but it is definitely getting easier. There have been times where motivation just seems to evaporate but I do not quit. I work hard to protect my program and do the best that I can. I try to keep reminding myself to hold the line because of how hard it is to undo mindless eating."

This lesson was at the same time of the year last year with the same challenges.

"I just went through a week of celebrations and parties and I could not be happier. No denial, just lots of mostly good choices (thank you 100 DWL, SP and each of you who support and encourage). I am happy, the scale is happy!"

I can really relate to this one - I know so well how motivation is a choice, and I chose not to be motivated last week! I am now behind on 9 lessons. Last week I just wasn’t ready to tackle them as I was more focused on my health situation and was in a waiting phase for test results to come back. Now that I went to the doctor’s late last week and have a treatment plan, I feel much better. I didn’t do terribly with my motivation to eat healthy and move, but not the greatest. The important thing is I have not given up! I have read all the lessons with the group, just haven’t commented on them. I will do a few a day till I am with the rest of you. It’s much more fun when I’m on the same page with everybody!

I need to work on keeping up the motivation when I’ve lost it. A lot of times my motivation is controlled by others - for exercise, I go to the gym when my friend will be there, or go for a 3 mile walk with my husband, when he wants to go. For food, I often get “off track” by choosing to eat what dh offers me when he gets a non-healthy snack. I want to motivate myself to say no to things offered to me, and also to get the motivation to get up off my butt and exercise on my own, when others in my life are not. I especially want to focus on moving in the evening, when I tend to sit and watch something on TV, read or go on the computer.

“...your drive and energy originate inside your head...”

Decades ago, I took a job where the previous person was way behind in her work. The supervisor just told me to work on the oldest things first. I was still petrified that I wouldn’t make it past probation. My young husband told me to pick up the oldest, make a list of the first three things that needed, do the first one, cross it off the list, etc. I would pass that on over and over again throughout the ensuing years.

It works.

If I can push myself into going to the Y or working out here at home EVERY day....that helps my mental outlook and my motivation.

edited because I just read Gill's sparkmail, and found I did much the same this morning as she did. It's an early spin class, and many times when that alarm goes off, it's so easy to jump back into bed and forget it. So...had my clothes laid out, my water bottle in the car along with the breakfast bar and the coffee ready to perk. And I DID make it -- for about 5 minutes I thought about how good it felt under the covers, but hated all that prep work to go to waste.

I think we must all be pretty darn motivated or we wouldn't be here. Right?!

Some days my motivation is good and some days not, but I keep trying and that is all we can ask of ourselves.

Last night's family dinner went well. I paused frequently but couldn't tell much about my fullness level except to say that when I was done eating I felt satisfied. I also concentrated on flavor and for some reason there was little to no flavor in this Hawaiian Pizza I ate. How can pineapple and ham be tasteless? Would freezing do that? Well, I'll remember to never order it again from this place.

I agree, motivation is up to me. As long as I am sticking to my plans I stay motivated without much of a problem but when I fall I really have to push myself to get back on track. If I stay off track for more than a day or too....trouble city!

I really, really find it hard to restart....first I have to get to the point where I'm willing to restart...before that I have to get to the point where I am willing to be willing to restart.

Inertia is a terrible thing but because I have been trying to be healthy for so long I know that I have to pull myself back even if only in small steps and each successful small step leads to a bit more motivation until I get back.

I also find it easier to get back if I work on both nutrition and movement at the same time. That may be just me.

Yes, 'my' motivation is up to 'me.' I'm choosing to get motivated, stay motivated, be motivated and hopefully motivate others/set a good example.

Interesting. When I eat healthy/make healthy food choices and get my fitness time in, I AM motivated. So, yes, motivation is my choice and it's up to me. I want good health for me. So I must stay motivated. Actually it is becoming easier each day.

Gloria, hope you get well soon!

Yes I can choose to be motivated. Yes I can choose to eat healthier foods. I can choose to do things that I don't really enjoy. I can also choose things that make me happy!

My mini habits help me stay motivated.
My push ups, squats, eating vegetables.

This team helps me stay motivated.

Day #41 Motivation is a choice
Sometimes the day you need just shows up. I just wrote myself a whiny, poor me note about my actions last week.
Then just like Magic I’m put back on the program with one very important sentence.
Motivation is a my choice! I just need to make the choice to stay here, work thru the issues and keep going.

Day 41 Motivation is a choice

JUMP START YOUR ACTIONS!

Invent new tricks and create fresh ideas that will inspire you toward action.

Motivation affects everything!

From staying on your diet to cleaning your house. Motivation can give you that sense of enthusiasm and you might not think much about it when you have it, but when it disappears, we can be in big trouble! Perhaps you won't know where it went or how to get it back, and it feels impossible.

Because your drive and energy originate inside your head, you have the ability to motivate yourself any time you want. You just have to get up out of your chair and make it happen.

Create a list, then simply do the things on your list and surprise -- you'll have boosted your motivation. You may still have to push yourself during times when you don't feel like doing your exercise. But if you know how to get yourself started, you'll always make progress.
++++++++++++++++++
Make a list – follow the list!

Energy & Drive – are in your head. Get up out of your chair and make it happen!

Remember the 5 Second Rule – act on first impulse/thought

What helped boost my motivation in the past – blogging, sticking to a daily routine, living small – repetitions, following a schedule, focus, desire to succeed, pursuing an important goal

Jump-start your actions. I like that 2018 is close at hand. It’s a new year, a fresh start, and that motivates me to start anew. I need to have a plan in place that I can see myself succeeding in. It has to be detailed enough that it is a check list.

I am excited about my 2018 BUJO. I have bought a few books, stickers and pens to get started. I will motivate myself!

I am someone who does well with New Years’ resolutions.

Timers help me get started with tasks I hate. Listening to audio books while I am exercising, cleaning the house, etc. help me keep going.

I need to create positive thoughts, self-talk, and attitude. It helps to do 100 DWL and spend time in the morning thinking about it, but for better time management I should do it later in the day after I have exercised and got my work done.

Pick an area you would like to change and then make a list of every possible action you could take that would move you toward that desired goal.

Exercise

Morning Walk

Night before layout clothes, shoes, jacket, hat, charge MP3
Go to bed at 9:30
Lights out at 10 PM
Get up at 6 AM – drink glass of water, dress, grab MP3, get outside right away
Walk 30 minutes

8 AM Water aerobics

Gym – Monday, Wednesday, Friday

*Treadmill or walk in the park 10,000 steps daily

Morning 3,000 steps
Afternoon 4,000 steps
Evening 3,000 steps

Look at other park activities

*Meals/Diet/Calorie Tracking

Each evening after dinner plan tally the daily calories
Each evening after dinner plan the next day’s menu
Next day follow the plan

I absolutely know now that 'motivation' is unnecessary really - it's HABIT that is the key to my success. The 'just do it' attitude is what gets me going, then the success of that keeps me going.

Also, letting go of really rigid rules has helped me to continue to be motivated. For example, on the No S diet, if I have a slip-up, I just mark it down as a 'failure' then move on again. The same message came to me recently from a video by Dr Greger: if you don't eat so well one day, don't worry, just eat better the next day.

The other factor which maintains 'motivation' is a positive feed-back loop - if it makes me feel good and I see a benefit, I am more likely to do it again - and it creates a positive habit. One of the ways I get this is by tracking my weight weekly on the Maintenance Team - seeing the stats every week gives me a good feeling, and enables me to continue strongly for the next week.

So - for me - it's about setting up systems and habits that make it more likely that I will succeed. I don't have to use too much of my emotional energy thinking 'what shall I eat?' or 'what exercise should I do?' - I just do whatever is on my plan. Just do it!

I enjoyed reading what all of you have written. Like everyone else I go though cycles of being super motivated and things fall easily into place -- and then sometimes...not so much. Thinking of motivation as a choice puts the ball in my court -- rather than waiting for the stars to align just right to produce that magical state of effortless staying on plan.

Currently I'm finding it a good practice to take my morning coffee back to bed where I have my reading station and notebook set up. I have a couple books I'm reading a bit at a time -- one of which is 100 Days of Weight loss. I'm on Day 3 so far. I write in my notebook what I want to accomplish for the day, and the workout I've chosen. I'm lucky to have a fantastic Y available a 20 minute drive from here, so I don't have to really spend any effort wondering what my daily workout will be. All I have to do is arrange it so I can show up when the class starts.

My post from 9-10-15 still applies. Just like that post, I continue to join challenges.

Like Linda suggests, I start first thing in the morning with lots of positive self-talk type language. I tell myself this is my job and my lifestyle now and that I need to focus and stay on track to meet goals.

First thing I put on my step tracker because I have a daily step goal and I need every step to meet it. I get in a walk or some kind of exercise, plan and prep meals. I usually make a short to do list which as I cross things off, I find very motivating and satisfying.

It's not always easy, but it is definitely getting easier. There have been times where motivation just seems to evaporate but I do not quit. I try to take a "pause" and do the best that I can. I try to keep reminding myself to "hold the line"because of how hard it is to undo mindless eating.

I just went through a week of celebrations and parties and I could not be happier. No denial, just lots of good choices (thank you 100 DWL , SP and each of you who support and encourage). I am happy, the scale is happy!

Day 41 – 100 DWL Motivation is a Choice

Linda tells us we are not going 'feel like it' - You have to DECIDE.

So, yes, motivation IS a choice! Just do it! So today I have made the following choices:

emoticon I choose what I eat.
emoticon I choose when I exercise.
emoticon  I choose to make my body healthier.
emoticon I choose to feel guilty about poor choices or to move on.
emoticon  I choose “to do” and not “to try”.

Day #41 Motivation is a Choice!
This was a lesson that took up a whole page in my "magic notebook" and I'll keep checking back to it when the Winter blahs set in.
One thing that always seems to get me back to my healthy living plan is to start a new project or challenge.
So in the time between now and Spring, I plan to see how many miles I can get on the pedometer.
I plan to keep working for "green" dots and logging my food, especially during this long cold winter season.

Why didn't I ever consider motivation being a decision? It really is. It is a head thing. Nobody can overcome any bad habit or addiction without deciding it needs to be done. To push yourself even when you don't feel like it is a decision. It can also be called discipline. My best motivator. Is looking at my 10 reasons. I have them typed up in large print at the front of my journal. I still have not been consistently exercising. Spark Guy encourages beginners to do 10 minutes. I think I will make some 10 minute signs to post in a few places I will see.

"You create it (motivation) yourself through your thoughts, your self-talk, and your attitude."

Thoughts - Make sure the thoughts I'm thinking are ones I decide to think (Brooke Castillo, The Life Coach School).

Self-talk - Observe my self-talk! (Martha Beck, "The Four Day Win...").

Attitude - Spangle, "Pick an area you’d like to change and then make a list of every possible action you could take that would move you toward that desired goal...Then simply do the things on your list..."

Everything I've written before still hold true for me; this is what I posted in April this year

"For me, the key to change has been learning about habit-formation. Motivation IS the kick-starter, then habit is the back-up generator that keeps things things running when motivation & will-power are in the charger!"

One of the times when my motivation (and will-power) waivers, is when I'm staying with someone else - this came to mind because I'm going to have a busy weekend which will mean that dinner, breakfast and lunch are eaten at a friend's house. I find I can very easily start to feel 'out of control' when I am not the one planning, preparing, serving the food!

My friend has a lot of things in her house that I usually keep out of my kitchen because they're triggers for me - fats, sugars and carbs. I've been considering how I can manage to get enough protein - maybe by taking a couple of protein bars and some fruit with me? I don't think my motivation is strong enough to cope with the length of stay - if it was just one meal, I could do it. I know that if I eat too many cabs, I'm left feeling MORE HUNGRY.

My motivation is a choice - I choose to monitor the amount of carbs I say 'yes' to; I choose to fill up on the fruit and veggies on offer; I choose to take extra protein with me to keep my blood sugar/hunger stable. This might sound a bit extreme - I'm wishing myself that it wasn't so complicated - but it IS - I think if I eat a 'good' protein bar about 30 mins before our meal, that will reduce my appetite and strengthen my will-power to moderate my intake of carbs/sugars.

Gosh, I didn't realize I had so much on my mind about this! I hate the feeling of chaotic eating - which is what happens when I say 'yes' to the things I don't usually choose to eat.

My motivation is to feel well, to feel healthy, to feel in control of my eating, to feel well-fed and satisfied.

'Love is stronger than motivation.' Thanks Chele. I have printed that out!

Physically, I am going through a dodgy patch with my mobility. Certainly experiencing enough pain, disturbed sleep and plenty of frustration! What has kept me motivated is faith that I will mend, coupled with a healthy dose of love and support from the folks at home together with the kind thoughts here.

I can apply this to my nutrition. I'm worthy of the care and love I give myself.

It is very hard to push myself these days. I have lots of opportunities for exercise and outings. But..I think I am having some depression. I have some yuky doctor appointments to go to and it might be pulling me down. After next week (if all goes well) the doc appts. should lessen.

I am sleeping way too much and having a hard time pushing myself to nearby events that I like.

I have to be diligent about caring for myself. 100 DAYS OF WEIGHT LOSS is a great way for me to keep focused. Day 1 is July 1, 2017. Build habits to produce success. Most of these habits I have at least tried before but did not sustain. First habit: delay eating by using a timer.

Day #41 Motivation is a Choice!
What I buy determines what I eat.
What I order in a restaurant determines calories consumed.
Whether I sit or take a walk determines my physical fitness.
I agree with Gill that habit is the back-up when motivation and will-power need a charge.

Day 41 of 100 Motivation is a choice

I love those metaphors, Gill, and I'm going to remember them. You are right that motivation is what gets things started, then my will pow kicks in but that ebbs and flows also; habit fills the gaps and the whole process is driven by the fact that I've been working at this long enough to see the results of a healthier lifestyle.

My motivated phases last longer now; I need to rely on will power less often; I count on my new habits daily.

When everything seems to be lagging though; I come back to this fact - Motivation is a choice and then I spend time thinking about WHY living healthy is important...independence; fun; being able to be free of pain; being able to stay away from doctors; etc. The list is long and the items on it spur my motivation.

I agree with you Chele, motivation/will power is like a battery than can lose it's power over time depending on how much energy it's called to expend.

For me, the key to change has been learning about habit-formation. Motivation IS the kick-starter, then habit is the back-up generator that keeps things things running when motivation & will-power are in the charger!

Motivation is not reliable. It is not unlimited, it burns out.

For me, sometimes it lasts a year, a month, a day, a moment.

emoticon Love is stronger than motivation.

I choose to love my body. Life is not all or nothing. If I choose a less healthy food, to love myself I want less of it.

I will love myself by not eating in secret.

I will love myself when the motivation seems to fade and the urge to binge or sneak food is strong.

Day 41: Motivation is a choice
just can't seem to get myself motivated! Do these words sound familiar? Even the most dedicated dieters will sometimes feel at a loss on how to get themselves going.
Motivation affects everything! From staying on your diet to cleaning your house, it provides the power behind all of your actions and helps you follow through with good intentions. Motivation becomes the push that helps you get things done.
When motivation is strong, you might not even realize it or give it much thought. But when it goes away, you're usually in big trouble! Often you won't have any idea where it went or how to get it back.
Unfortunately, your motivation doesn't drop out of the sky or suddenly reappear after an absence. You can't open the junk drawer and shout, "Look! I just found my motivation!" Every once in a while, you just need a way to jump-start your actions as well as keep yourself moving once you get started.
Create it yourself
Although it may seem like it simply pops up unexpectedly, motivation is actually a choice. You create it yourself through your thoughts, your self-talk, and your attitude. Even when you don't have a shred of energy, you can still access your motivation if you want to.
Because your drive and energy originate inside your head, you have the ability to motivate yourself anytime you want. You just have to get up out of your chair and make it happen.
Invent new tricks
Instead of waiting for inspiration to hit, you can learn how to build it yourself. To do this, you have to invent new tricks and create fresh ideas that will inspire you toward action.
Pick an area you'd like to change, and then make a list of every possible action you could take that would move you toward that desired goal.
Then simply do the things on your list and surprise-you'll have boosted your motivation! You may still have to push yourself during times when you don't feel like doing your exercise. But if you know how to get yourself started, you'll always be able to make progress.
In your notebook, write the words "Motivation is a choice." Focus on accepting and believing this.
Write down a few tricks and ideas that have helped boost your motivation in the past.
Do at least one of these today. For example, you might set your exercise shoes in front of the door to help motivate you to take your walk.
Motivation only happens with good choices
Actions show how Motivated I am
Today I need to work on choosing to be motivated
I have to work on making good choices to stay motivated.
Still working on exercise- Need to work on how tto get back into the grove get motivated to start again.
One good choice at a time works to keeping me motivated with my health and with other areas of my life.
Motivation is a choice You do have to find those incentives or tricks to boost your motivation. It comes from you from within yourself. sometimes it takes longer and harder to find it. No one can build your motivation up but you
I choose what and when I eat
I choose to exercise and get my steps in
I choose to become healthier each and every day
I choose action over non action
I choose to not have snacky foods in house unless it is on my menu plan
I choose to have plenty of fruits and veggies in house to help me make good choices
No way do I want to reverse I like the direction I am going. It is so nice hearing compliments too. very motivating. so others can help too.

I can't add much to that lot, or to what I wrote last time. In the Life is Easy, Life is Hard book (pg 214) Linda described how it's hard to know when you have motivation , but you sure notice when it's gone!
emoticon
She also says that motivation needs an outcome - specific, measurable goals. For me, breaking it down into small steps, and just doing it, is usually the way I keep my motivation going. Today, for example, I don't feel much like it because I have to go to work for an overnight shift.......... but I've planned to go out for a walk before I leave for work. I will do this, because I've planned to do it, and it helps me stay motivated.

I also appreciate the music playlists on jango.com. It's a free on-line music website, where you can choose what genre of music you want to listen to. There are some great playlists for all moods - uplifting, energizing, or calming and mellow. The other day, when I was doing my menu plans for the coming week, I chose one for 'deep concentration' - good for studying. It was really great. Music helps me. (I don't have an mp3 player, so I don't have music on-the-go, only at home).

Great posts everyone! I can see how we are all motivated to go the distance simply by showing up and being here day in and day out.

My renewed motivation is to improve my health. That has always been #1 and it continues to remain so.

The closer I get to that goal the higher I raise the bar.

Maribeth, love the idea of a 5K on Thanksgiving. Chele, so glad to see 148 days on the "No S", Leslie, so glad to see you closer to KOPs and Phyllis, great plan on getting on the treadmill between now and the New years.

Day 41, 100 days Motivation is a choice

I like some of those I read so I will use them.

Motivation only happens with good choices

Actions show how Motivated I am

So Today I need to work on choosing to be motivated to stay at my leeway or to set a new goal if I hit the bottom of it. I will coose to not go into my bad habits that want to invade me. I have to work on making good choices to stay motivated.

Exercise- Need to choose to get to gym one other day than I meet with trainer.
Nutrition - Continue to Journal, and plan and count exchanges

One good choice at a time works to keeping me motivated with my health and with other areas of my life.

Motivation is a choice You do have to find those incentives or tricks to boost your motivation. It comes from you from within yourself. sometimes it takes longer and harder to find it. No one can build your motivation up but you

I like yours too fisker

I choose what and when I eat
I choose to exercise and get my steps in
I choose to become healthier each and every day
I choose action over non action
I choose to not have snacky foods in house unless it is on my menu plan
I choose to have plenty of fruits and veggies in house to help me make good choices

No way do I want to reverse I like the direction I am going. It is so nice hearing compliments too. very motivating. so others can help too.

Day #41 Motivation is a Choice!
This was a lesson that took up a whole page in my "magic notebook" and I'll keep checking back to it when the Winter blahs set in.
One thing that always seems to get me back to my healthy living plan is to start a new project or challenge.
So in the time between Thanksgiving and New Years, I plan to see how many miles I can get on the treadmill.
I plan to keep working for "green" dots and logging my food, especially during this season.

I like what I wrote last time:

Motivation is a choice!!!!

I choose what I eat.
I choose when I exercise. (I need to choose this more often!)
I choose to make my body healthier.
I choose to feel guilty about poor choices or to move on. (Hmm still having a lot of trouble with this one)
I choose “to do” and not “to try”.

Keeping snacks out of easy reach helps a lot. Having yummy healthy foods in the house helps too! Checking this Team is motivating!

I do not want to go back to where I started from. I will not!

Day 41 Motivation is a choice
Motivation is weighing-in everyday and recording. Seeing the online calendar of green, yellow & red dots helps in evaluating my nutrition and fitness plan. Sharing inspiration with SP teams keeps me focused on reaching my goal weight. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

As I said last time, this clicked in for me and is a given, even when my "feelings" indicate otherwise. Eating to support my health is my everyday plan.

I think this maybe one of the most important lessons for me. How to create something from nothing. For me everything has to do with energy level. High energy = high motivation.
Low energy= low motivation. I am fine with my exercise. I am disabled but still manage to exercise everyday between 30 and 120 minutes.

I have three major problems: drinking enough water which can easily be solved with a little forethought, movement (my goal is to just stand every hour) and evening snacking.

All I have to do is make sure I have water near me and I will drink it. I have a large jug of distilled water near the computer and one in the bedroom. I do not have one near my chair. All I need to do is prepare a glass in the morning when I get my coffee. I will refill it if I start out with it

I need some sort of noisy, annoying alarm that goes off every hour and then all I need to do is stand. My goal is to make it a habit to stand every hour of a month, then walk 5 minutes every hour for a month and then 10 minutes.

The last one is the hardest. When I am exhausted I will sit and snack. If I could just go to bed, no matter what the time, but when I am really tired I avoid walking up the stairs because it hurts so much. I still have to walk up them to get to bed, but I keep putting it off and often on the very nights I need the most sleep I get the least because I have been avoiding going up the stairs. I know the solution - walk UP stairs. There is no food upstairs and I am never going to walk down just for food too much pain.

I have a plan now all I have to do is put it into action.

goal is to be able to walk again
