Day #20 Rebuild your hope
This is an area I work hard to rebuild in others and sometimes neglect in myself whenI'm chasing my tail all over the place.

I need to read my resources, allow myself some daily space and time to reflect. I have the skills to do this. Consistency is vital.

Day 20 Rebuild Your Hope
1. Identify negative voice - Rebellious
I don't want to follow my plan. It's too late to exercise

2. Re-frame - Positive - I worked hard to research and create my own nutrition and exercise plan. I know a lot of healthy ways to cope with boredom and procrastination --- instead of reaching for food! Evening exercise is the best way to avoid eating!

3. Create powerful voice of hope -
I know how to accomplish my goals and I will push forward today.
I can learn from my minor splurges (off-plaeating - track every bite)

Be thankful and recover - more quotes u.nu/moj5

Day 20 - Rebuild Your Hope

I consider myself an optimistic person who generally just feels like things will work out, that I will eventually reach my goals, and that my glass is definitely half full if not full to overflowing. Nevertheless I can have down times when the hope just doesn't seem to be there for me.

That is when I need to look back....way back to when I started sparking in 2007, then back to when those first pounds started falling off, then when I began to really feel healthier and stronger. Humph!! Yes I CAN!! Looking back helps me to look forward with renewed hope.

DAY #20 REBUILD YOUR HOPE

Yes! Yes! Yes!

I may need reminding every once in a while, but I am a firm believer that:

WHAT YOU THINK DETERMINES WHAT YOU FEEL DETERMINES WHAT YOU DO! ! ! !

Linda tells us to strengthen our Voice of Hope by doing the following:

1. Focus on what fuels your spirit instead of what drains it.
2. Believe that you can do this! Your hard work will pay off.
3. Your past does not determine your future!

- Identify things your negative voice tells you.

The list is too long so I am using the first thing that came to my mind - This is too hard!

- Reframe that thought - This is hard, but you have done hard before and you can do it now!

Create a motto for your Hope Voice.

- I CAN DO THIS. YES I CAN!

"Use your Hope Voice often and train it to give you words of love and encouragement every single day!"

100 More DWL - Day 20 Rebuild Your Hope

• Identify things your negative voice tells you. For example, “I never stay on a plan.”

My worry is that I can't get back to my eating plan and my target weight range.

• Reframe those thoughts by writing, “That’s not true… I can overcome that.”

You can't maintain your weight and will put weight on

That’s not true, I have been maintaining my weight loss of 3 stones since November 2017 and that is over 2 years of maintenance now. I just need to continue following my plan and weighing in every 4-6 weeks.

You can't keep exercising as you are not fit enough
That's not true I can walk fast for over a mile and other struggle to keep up with me, I have had membership of the leisure centre for 4 years and attend at least 1 aqua aerobics class working harder than most of the other people there.

• Create a powerful statement to use as your hope voice. For example, “Of course I can do this!”

My memorable statements
"Of course I can do this and while I am medically able I will do it!"

Day 20 - Rebuild Your Hope

I do need some hope-rebuilding. I feel lame trying over and over again and not getting to goal. I read my last year's Day 19, I was filled with hope and enjoying my first 100 DWL round. Now I am on my third one, the second on this book. I know what works. I knew what worked before I did a 100 DWL journey. So why do I keep looking for new ways instead of sticking to what I know works. Why can't I stick to what works long enough and consistently enough to reach my goal? I am hesitant to try something new, but I almost always learn something new that is helpful. I like the 100 day journeys because of their long stretch to keeping me mindful with varying themes on the 100 days. As for not losing hope, I think of the kids at the teen homeless shelter. A lot of them aren't trying to be independent, they are just being supported by the services, meals, a place to do laundry, take a shower, get clothes. Sometimes medical care as needed, connections to education, job training and jobs. Some are trying to be independent. And the ones who are trying, usually they have to try more than once to gain independence. They are mostly teens. Usually teens have those supports at home, and aren't expected to be independent until they finish their educations. Teens should have supports and not such pressing expectations to be independent. The shelter aids the young people until they are 24, so that is more in line with young people with family support. A lot of the teens are dealing with a lot of issues besides getting a job that pays a living wage. So it can look like they only soak up the services and don't put effort into bettering themselves. But the ones that reach the point that they want to be self-sufficient, they need the hope and the belief that they can get there. That's what I need. The hope and the belief that I can get to my goal. If I try, keep trying, even when it looks like I have tried so many times that that is my ongoing rut, perhaps I will eventually get there. If I don't try to move towards my goal, for sure I won't get there.

1. Identify things your negative voice tells you. For example, “I never stay on a plan.”

Wow! I feel like I've beaten the negative voice down over the past year. I try not to go there. If I've fallen off plan, I say, "Persistence, not perfection, is the goal."

2. Reframe those thoughts by writing, “That’s not true… I can overcome that.”
"I know I can do better, and I will," is what I tell myself. And, emoticon

Day 20 - Rebuild you hope

- Identify things your negative voice tells you.
You can't stick to an exercise plan.
You will hurt yourself again.
You are too old.
You have Hashi's and sleep apnea, how will you ever overcome these conditions to lose weight.

- Reframe those thoughts.
I have in the the past and I will again.
If I ease in and be consistent, I can can avoid injury.
I am still alert and breathing, therefore I can still learn and grow and change.
Maybe I don't have to overcome my health conditions to lose weight. Maybe instead of fighting my body, can tune in and give it what it needs.

- Create a powerful statement to use as your hope voice.
You are worth the effort!

Day 20 - Rebuild Your Hope

Listen to your hope voice. You may have to search a bit, but find your voice of hope and make it stronger. Start with a tiny glow of light, then nurture your hope day by day until it feels like a powerful beacon. Here are three ways to work on this and build a stronger sense of hope.

1. Recharge Your Batteries
Make a list of what drains you and what fuels you.

2. Raise Your Expectations
Do this with your life as well as your weight-loss plan. Build a belief that reaching your goal is possible and that your current efforts will work. If you stay consistent with it, any weight loss plan or exercise plan will bring results. So hold onto a sense of hope, that of course, you will be successful.

3. Look Ahead Not Back
Let go of the past and remind yourself that now you are in a different place with new tools that will propel you forward. Listen to your hope voice often and train it to give you words of love and encouragement every single day!

Today’s Exercise:

• Identify things your negative voice tells you. For example, “I never stay on a plan.”

I never keep my lost weight off. I always regain weight.
I never stick with my plan, I always give up and quit.

• Reframe those thoughts by writing, “That’s not true… I can overcome that.”

I never keep my lost weight off. I always regain weight.
That’s not true, I have been maintaining my weight loss of 90 pounds since June 2018 and that is 9 months of maintenance. I just need to continue living my healthy lifestyle.

I never stick with my plan, I always give up and quit.
That’s not true, I may make some mistakes and get off track from my plan but I make corrections and get back on the right track.

• Create a powerful statement to use as your hope voice. For example, “Of course I can do this!”

Nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels.

Something important I remember:
I love Linda’s definition of hope, “Hope is more than an emotion you feel. It is a state of being you create by your thoughts, your beliefs, and your actions. “

- If I am complying, my negative voice tells me I am being rigid and not using my brain.
- also that maintaining is really hard and I will be under pressure all the time, I will always need to be vigilant and will never be able to relax
- that the habits I need to maintain will make me look excessive and unbalanced

• Reframe those thoughts by writing, “That’s not true… I can overcome that.”

- don't start worrying about the battles of maintaining goal weight until I get there.
- build healthy, reasonable habits that sustain a healthy and fit weight

• Create a powerful statement to use as your hope voice. For example, “Of course I can do this!”

Two days at a time, pre-plan meals, exercise and to-do list the night before, get enough sleep, follow the plan the next day

DAY #20 REBUILD YOUR HOPE - ROUND 2

I do get discouraged on occasion, but, in general I have a strong HOPE VOICE!

I love how Linda words the definition of hope:

Hope is more than an emotion you feel. It is a state of being you
create by your thoughts, your beliefs, and your actions.

She mentions reframing our negative thoughts to make them positive so we can move forward. I had a bit of a slip last night as we celebrated my DH birthday with friends. I told him this morning that I'm glad he only has one birthday a year! I could be discouraged about my slip and chastise myself, but I am HOPEFUL that some day I will learn better control if I just keep practicing.

"I never seem to be able to stick to my plan when we are out with friend"
"That's not true. I have been sticking to my plan more and more this year."
"My HOPE VOICE rules!"

1. I never stay on plan.
2. Setbacks cause me inconsistency.
3. I tend to lose focus this time of year.

I wake up in the morning and have such a positive attitude about exercise and healthy eating.
Why doesn’t that attitude stay with me all day? I know what I need to do to be healthy, but if my life gets a little stressful I look for food to feel better.

So it’s mind over matter. I’m going to choose to drink water instead or grab an apple and take a walk. I can do this. I will read all these messages to get my strength! emoticon

Thank you all for the inspiration I receive here every day.

"Hopefully, I won't "fall down 7 times, get up 8" on this journey."

You know, I just did some exercises where I had to wobble a bit and hold onto a chair momentarily. I used to think I'd 'failed' if I couldn't do an exercise 100% correctly - now that I'm older I understand the value of 'modifications' - and I think that kind of applies to our diet plans too - sometimes we need to just modify slightly in order to get as much of the benefit as possible. Rather than giving up because we're not doing it 100% perfectly.

Love all of your inspiring comments, pics and motivational quotes.

I am finding at this time in my journey, it is more about rebuilding daily and never completely letting go of hope anymore. As Linda states in this lesson, "staying consistent...and listening to your hope voice."

It's like me currently re-learning to ride a bike. emoticon

It's a LOT of practice, going slow or even coasting when necessary, staying positive and trusting myself that I CAN do it!

Hopefully, I won't "fall down 7 times, get up 8" on this new learning to ride a bike again journey. emoticon emoticon

Day 20 rebuilding my hope
I can allow myself to get discouraged and just give up on this whole thing. I rebuilt my hope daily as I want to do this and I need to do this for me
I stretch myself thin at times doing for others and to keep doing what I’m doing I need to remain healthy fit and set an example
I start out every day with a bottle of water and a three mile walk. I preplan my food and log in my calories to stay within my boundaries

Day #20 Rebuild Your Hope

It just so happens that right now I am in a HOPE filled place. I can't remember the last time my schedule as been so clean! It has given me time to nurture myself and fill my HEART BUCKET so that I am feeling clam, relaxed, and joyful. All of this allows me to focus 100% on my goals.

One of the biggest goals in my life is organization - in what I think and what I do. Staying organized really helps cut out the chaos that frequently occupies my brain. When you remove negative thoughts/feelings in your brain it leaves room for you to fill that space with positive thoughts/feelings.

Linda points out in today's lesson that HOPE is more than just an emotion. It is a STATE OF BEING you create by your thoughts, your beliefs, and your actions!

WW supports this theory also by supporting the principle that what you THINK determines how you FEEL which leads to what you DO.

I am learning to listen to my HOPE VOICE and when I create those positive thoughts and feelings I can hear better. Have you ever said to anyone "Can you turn that TV down please. I can hardly hear myself think!" emoticon

While I am not at a "hopeless" state at the moment, I may be in the future when life events beyond my control happen.

I will remind myself I am a survivor not a victim and I can do anything if I try hard enough and remain focused. Well, ok, almost anything.

Gil my Mom used to say you could do anything you wanted if you had the money and the time. You'd always have one or the other, but seldom have both at once!

For my list of things, I have a list in my bullet journal of what I call Mood Lifters , which could be as simple as a jigsaw or crossword puzzle or as complex as getting a pedicure at the spa.

Day 20: Rebuild your hope-July 7, 2018-Listen to your hope voice-You may have to search a bit, but find your voice of hope and make it stronger. Start with a tiny glow of light, then nurture your hope day by day until it feels like a powerful beacon. Here are three ways to work on this and build a stronger sense of hope

1. RECHARGE YOUR BATTERIES-Make a list of what drains you and what fuels you
2. RAISE YOUR EXPECTIONS- Do this with your life as well as your weight-loss plan. Build a belief that reaching your goal is possible and that your current efforts will work. If you stay consistent with it, any weight loss plan or exercise plan will bring results. So hold onto a sense of hope, that of course, you will be successful.
3.LOOK AHEAD NOT BACK-Let go of the past and remind yourself that now you are in a different place with new tools that will propel you forward. Listen to your hope voice often and train it to give you words of love and encouragement every single day!

TODAY

Identify things your negative voice tells you. For example, "I never stay on a plan." Not suree what my inner voice is saying but thinking stress is a lot that contributes to the thoughts and actions I've been doing

Reframe those thoughts by writing, "That's not true... I can overcome that." I have reached my goal and now you must get there and be successful.

Create a powerful statement to use as your hope voice. For example, "Of course I can do this!"

I CAN DO THIS AND I WILL-

I am in a good place right now - and grateful for that. When things are going well it's hard to remember how it feels to be in that over-whelmed, hopeless place.

Anyway, today, I am not over-whelmed or hopeless, so I will take that as a great starting point.

Today I liked that Linda said take a look at current life issues and identify which ones fuel me and which ones drain me.

I do a daily list in my Bullet Journal - currently it has a LOT on it (not all to be done today - but tasks that need to be remembered) - and I'd say ALL of the items on the list will be beneficial for me to do. But certain things 'fuel' me more than others - and I marked those with an arrow.

(and yes, the eagle-eyed of you may have spotted a Xmas tree on there - yes, I've realized that Xmas is only 5 pay-packets away!)

It did make me think about what I am prioritizing. Funnily enough, the email from The Brave Girls Club this morning was on a similar topic; it was about making time for things that really nurture us. They encourage sharing - so here's most of today's message

"When are you going to move yourself to the top of your list?

Dear one, we often get stuck on the carousel of excuses. We tell ourselves that we are just entirely too busy to take the best care of ourselves, or to live out our dreams...or to volunteer or have a garden or tidy up the messes that drive us crazy or practice an instrument or write or learn new things.

Almost all of us can make time for the things we really want to be doing. ..........We can make time..............by saying no, by prioritizing, and reprioritizing. We make time when we stop wasting it."

100 More DWL , Day 20 Rebuild your hope

Let go of the past and remind yourself that now you are in a different place with new tools that will propel you forward. Listen to your hope voice often and train it to give you words of love and encouragement every single day!

Today

• Identify things your negative voice tells you. For example, “I never stay on a plan.”
• Reframe those thoughts by writing, “That’s not true… I can overcome that.”
• Create a powerful statement to use as your hope voice. For example, “Of course I can do this!”

Days 11-20 completed!

Every day I am able to plan a day's meals and snacks ahead of time and follow through on that plan is a victory! Success builds on success. I know I can do this! I have been doing it and will continue to do it. I WILL reach and maintain my goal! I remain hopeful each morning that the day will be one where I feel in control of my actions. Emotions are simply feelings and feelings pass. I'm in control of what action (or inaction) I take based on those feelings. I'm like a seedling breaking through into the sunshine. I have HOPE!

You’ve come this far in your 100 days… Don’t stop now. If you’re struggling to stick with it, push yourself to finish one more day. You’ll immediately be another day closer to achieving your weight-loss goals. Just do one more day!

Joy is a Choice. Choose joy moment by moment.

When all else fails, persistence prevails.
