Day 39 - See your value

2 positive statements for self-talk:
(1) I am a child of God; He made me the way I am.
(2) God has given me the ability to lose the weight I have gained. My wisdom and strength in weight loss come from Him.

These are thoughts I've had a long time. When I feel discouraged, I reflect on how far I have come so far, and I pray, asking God for the strength to continue to work on this important goal.

Day 39 - See Your Value

While theoretically I have no problem seeing my or any other human being's intrinsic value, when in a experience of failing to meet goals that are not really that difficult, my self-esteem suffers. It is hard to feel good about oneself when one is failing at non-difficult and important tasks. Not difficult to do, but there is a mental block in getting it done. Also, I feel over privileged in a lot of ways so that adds to my feeling that there is no excuse in getting things done. Can you believe, maybe if I confess here, it will spur me to action, can you believe I have promised myself a trip to a Canadian city plus New York City if I get my necessary and pressing tasks done. What's more I have promised my niece this trip this summer, along with her father and boyfriend, so as to help motivate me, as I can give up this trip if it is just myself, but I would hate to disappoint them. We had a great trip together last year. Hoping for another one this year.

DAY # 39 SEE YOUR VALUE

This is what I wrote last time and I still love it:

Our self-worth does not come from within us! It is reflected to us by the world around us and this starts on the day you were born. If a person, never hears or sees anything good regarding their self they will never be able to realize that they are indeed worthy. It can take years, and great insight, to see that you have done some worthwhile things in your life. Things that can defy all of the negative things you have come to think about yourself. Things that can SPARK a fire within you to look closer at who you are capable of being.

My two statements:

- I am lovable and worth loving.
- I have value worth sharing with the world.

Yes. It has taken me years to see these two things about myself, but I no longer doubt that they are true!

I WILL NOT LET ANYONE STEAL MY THUNDER! ! !

The words you say to yourself can affect nearly everything you do. Starting today, change the negative words you say to yourself. Instead of saying I cant do anything right, hold your head up high and tell yourself, "Im important, Im valuable, and I count in this world."



Today

Create two positive statements to use for your self-talk.
I am a high value person.
I love myself and am taking care of myself.



Write them on a card or piece of paper, then post them where you can read them often.
Done.

Live as if these statements are true, then record your response.
They remind me I have integrity and the confidence to prioritize myself and be strong as I live my healthy lifestyle. My value comes from within me and not from someone else. This makes me feel strong, powerful, and in control as I pursue my dreams and needs.

Linda says that instead of saying "I can't do anything right," hold your head up high and tell yourself, "I'm important, I'm valuable, and I count in this world."

1. Create two positive statements to use for your self-talk.

I am important and valuable in the world to many people..
I am strong and healthy and want to keep it that way.
I am beautiful.

2. Write them on a card or piece of paper, then post them where you can read them often.

I did this and wrote them in card in my purse.

3. Live as if these statements are true, then record your response.

Reading these out loud does make me feel more confident and increases my self esteem and feeling of self worth.

Day 39 - See Your Value

I have written down this from a previous lesson: "Let go of the past and remind yourself that now you are in a different place with new tools that will propel you forward. Listen to your hope voice often and train it to give you words of love and encouragement every day."

Whenever that pesky "you always fail" and "you'll gain it all back" voice enters my head, I read the above message. This time can be different.

I can do anything I set my mind to.
I can do amazing things. Just watch me.
I say "yes" to adventure.
I am loved and I love others.
I am irreplaceable.
I Believe in Myself.

Write them on a card or piece of paper, then post them where you can read them often.

I print some of the amazing quotes and images to put in my journal.

Live as if these statements are true, then record your response.

I'm a work in progress, but getting better at quieting down that negative voice.

Day #39 See Your Value

The first time I read this lesson I really struggled with Linda's example of Vicki. I thought to myself "Well, who is she to blame for her current situation but herself?". She was extremely overweight to the point of not fitting comfortably into an airplane seat and she felt miserable and negative about herself. I probably don't sound very empathetic and I didn't feel that way when I read this lesson. However, I found myself feeling very proud of Vicki for taking the "bull by the horns" and coming up with an action plan to lose all of that weight. What a great example of determination she is for us!


Changing ourselves is so hard at times. I have been working especially hard on improving my self-talk during the past year after several horrible experiences with a friend for which she has not been willing to see the part she played in their outcome at all. I felt so horrible about myself. Finally I was able to tell myself "ENOUGH"! I am not a bad person! I am a good, loving, valuable, and worthwhile person who is sensitive to myself AND others. It has been a work in progress for sure, but everyday I see more of my self-worth and the value I have to offer this world!

I refuse to let anyone steal my joy!

I've enjoyed reading posts and seeing the images on this thread! I did write a card and place it on my vanity where I will see it several times a day. I've already pulled it out and read it to myself once when I was berating myself for a past mistake. It was surprisingly helpful to hold the card in my hand and read the statements to myself.

I still have the I Am letter to myself from the 100 Days book which reminds me how important, nice and adventuresome I am! It comes in handy to read it again.

OK. Right. I can do this.

This is a picture I've had on my computer for a long time and always hesitate to post - why? Probably because I don't believe it! So, this is the first one I'm going to choose to believe.


Here's my second one.


My friend has just arrived for coffee - so can't do more now. But this is a good start I think!
