I AM VALUABLE

- I thought it was interesting, cute, and catchy that Linda in her rendition of writing I am valuable.” mis-spelled it I AM VLUABLE!

• Consider ways you can restore your belief in your own value. Describe them.

I used to feel "I'm not okay, you're okay", or that others were more on the ball, I was a step behind, not cool, not socially smooth. I wouldn't want anyone else to think about themselves this way, but I allowed myself to think that way. Somewhere along the line, I realized that I am okay too, I am unique, valuable, irreplaceable, so many things that I give other people automatic status for but didn't think I was myself. I believe I have restored my belief in my own valuable, but do sometimes need to remind myself to stay the course and do my best when things don't work out as I plan, hope or expect.

Next round I will record and do, this time I am focused on sleep routine establishment plus daily introspection of the 100 days theme for this day.

DAY #40 BELIEVE IN YOURSELF - ROUND 2

In my last post for this lesson I talked about the value of friendship. As I read today's lesson again thoughts of friendship crossed my mind. Although I am much more self-assured of my worth in this world, I still need to be mindful of my thoughts when it comes to friendship. Just this past w/e there were two instances within the social event ( and by the same person!) when I almost let my thoughts derail into negativity.

- The first incident had to do with a group camping experience planned for the upcoming weekend. I really dislike it when people talk in a group about get-togethers that don't include everyone present. I was hurt that we were not invited to join this group outing and started to indulge in all kinds of nasty, sabotaging thoughts.

* But I quickly reigned myself in and used some techniques I learned from the BECK book. I did a reality check and reminded myself that we really don't enjoy these camping experiences that much, we are plenty busy enough with other fulfilling things in our lives, and that I don't need this person to validate my self-worth.

- The second was regarding a motorcycle ride this coming week to check out a new restaurant. The invite was not directed at everyone and I felt left out.

* But I quickly reminded myself that I really wasn't interested in going on a motorcycle ride this week. I just got my bike out of storage and have not had a chance to reacclimate myself to two wheels. Plus, the weather this week is cold and rainy! I can't be offended and I don't need this person's invite when I really have no interest in it.

I continue to work on not letting others undermine my belief in myself by rude comments or exclusions. It is all about correcting my inner negative dialog when situations like this come up and remembering that I AM VALUALBE!

Day 40 - Believe in yourself



Regardless of your current life situation, you can still find your inner spirit and rebuild your self-esteem. And it won’t take years to accomplish. By making a few simple changes in your self-talk and your internal beliefs, you can improve your self-esteem almost immediately.



Today

I AM VALUABLE



• Consider ways you can restore your belief in your own value. Describe them.
-Live my life with high values, integrity, and confidence
-Stay optimistic and keep a positive attitude
-Finish whatever I start and do not give up and quit
-Continue living my healthy lifestyle and take care of my body
-Replace negative thoughts and feelings with good, positive ones
-Be mindful of my daily life routine and get off of doing auto-pilot
-Do the things that I enjoy and bring me real happiness
-Celebrate and shop for clothes that fit my new body after losing 90 pounds

I value everything I’ve learned so far from my work on this team and our 100 day journey so far. I almost did not write anything for Day 40 Believe in Yourself. I missed writing on Friday and now it is Sunday. So, because of the sense of value I have in wanting to stay on the team schedule, not miss a day, and continue the work, I finished writing. I have thought about and written something for all days 1-40 and look forward to what comes next. Today’s writing has added to my self-worth and makes me feel great that I’m continuing on the right track, and now we have 60 more days to go to finish the 10 days. We can do this!

In the spirit of today's lesson, I'm sharing a photo of my art creation from an intuitive painting workshop I went to. The blurb for the workshop is very much about believing in yourself. It's a lovely freeing thing to do and really boost my belief in myself!


[the theme was 'water' and this was inspired by the many fast-flowing rocky streams I see on my walks]

Last night, I didn't have any dinner because I felt sick. You know why? I'd eaten potato crisps/chips, chocolate and cookies during the day - instead of real food. But it was also a good lesson - I'm getting much less tolerant of those things, which helps me to resist eating them (most of the time). I know I can do this - I believe in myself.

Day #40 Believe in yourself
The older I get the more often I need to remind myself that I am valuable.
Today is Friday, the sun is out after a week of rain and I live a good life.
I am loved by many people, when I lose thoughts of how valuable I am, I just need to reach out and connect to the positive things and people in my life.
Today I will reach out!

I Am Valuable.

I can set small goals and celebrate each time I accomplish them.
I can be kind to myself when I slip-up and remind myself to just keep going.
I can dress well every day so that I feel good even though I'm not at goal weight yet.
I can hang out with friends who love me and enjoy the good times.
I can spend time with my family who love me not matter what.
I can interact with the children at school in a positive manner so we both feel good about ourselves.
I can take pride in a job well done and not require outside praise. Just know that I'm good.
I can get enough sleep, eat well, and exercise so that I show myself I am valuable.

I went to the dentist to take care of my smile. I want to use it every day.
I danced because it feels good and make me happy.

I can remind myself who I am, where I came from, of all those that love me and that I love, of things I can do. I will write these things in my journal/bullet journal/planner. I also like trackers and can create trackers to make sure I do some type of self caring every day

I have struggled with feeling valuable for my entire life, so today's challenge really hits a nerve for me. I am further ahead than I have ever been but sometimes my issue seems to be that I am
confusing self esteem, or feeling a sense of worth, with my ego. For instance, I sometimes feel that if I stick up for myself (and of course, needing to stick up for myself is just my perception)
then that is a demonstration of self esteem. But these days I am really considering that it is "just" ego,and that ego and self esteem are two different issues. I certainly don't want to hijack this thread but I'd be interested to hear your collective thoughts on this.

Day # 40 Believe In Yourself



This is the screen saver I see every day when I open my computer.

It has taken me some time, but as I mentioned in yesterday's lesson, I now believe that -


I AM VALUABLE! ! !


If I ever doubt it, all I have to do is stop and think about all the different things I do, all of the different skills I have, and how they all contribute to a better life.

We spent the evening with a couple we have been friends with for 25+ years. At one time we were all part of a group of 4 couples. Over the years lives change. This couple frequently laments that when they get to retirement age with their children grown the rest of us will be either too old, dropped out of the group, or died leaving them with no one. Obviously, they feel quite isolated and alone without anyone who cares. I believe I AM VALUABLE in my continued friendship with this couple. I think they know I will be there for them. I believe I AM VALUABLE to many of my friends!

I am valuable
I am not a door mat and I refuse to be used and taken for granted
What did I do about it? I wrote various letters and made several distress phone calls for help reaching out to the agencies that placed my daughter in the living situation she is in and the outcome because of it. I took away her latest phone and grounded her for 3 weeks from getting on a motorcycle

Sometimes lessons just hit on the right day to make a good impression.
Today I began my day with the yoga Gill posted before heading out for lunch with my sisters.
At one point I mentioned I had signed up for a 5K and let’s just say the reaction was not the least bit encouraging.
Thank heavens I belong here, with this team, with this lesson today and with my “sisters” who help me to believe in myself!

I am valuable

Yes I and you are worth it! I will not allow other people’s opinion change my determination to eat healthy and do my best.

I will make my own decisions and ignore people saying, “but life is too short, eat this”. I will continue this journey and I will succeed because I deserve to be healthy and be strong enough to do things I love.

I take responsibility and know that in the end I am the one who made decisions whether right or wrong.

This morning I took an action to demonstrate my sense of value and self-esteem by reporting anti-social behaviour to the housing officer. My upstairs neighbour and friends kept me awake from 1am to 5am. Most of the time I just sigh and put up with it; this time I decided I deserve to have help to deal with this.

And I just took time for this before work - I felt quite emotional!!!

Later: I had a nice message on my answerphone when I got home, acknowledging my report, and letting me know that there are actions in place to deal with this person.

I'm very tired, because of my lack of sleep, but because I am valuable - I have put on my soft work-out clothes, lit a lavender-scented candle, and am going to have a relaxing bath before I go to bed tonight.
