I thought I was going to lose split data when memory full message appeared at first mile split on a ten mile run. However, I was finally able to read the entire "Memory Full..." message, it says the oldest item in memory will be deleted. It recorded all my spits, no new data was lost.

Thanks everyone. I got it. Not that keeping all of those crappy runs from 2009 in there was important - I'm more focused on the future and getting as far away from 2009's running as I can!

I can't remember the exact area, but you can delete all the all the history at once. You can also delete individual events in the history section by holding down the bottom button while on that event.

I have a 301 not a 405, but it might be the same. Go to Running settings, then Running history (I don't have the Garmin in front of me, so the menu names might be a little off). Then delete history. It should give you the option of deleting laps older then a month, a year, or all of them. I try to clear out mine that are older than a month at the start of every month, since I've already downloaded them, so that it doesn't fill up. During my marathon, I ran by someone who filled up her laps in the middle of the race!

I have the 305, but when I get that message, I keep hitting the "Mode" button until I get to history. Once you're in the history page, you can delete your runs to clear out space. Not sure if it would be the same for the 405....

Hi everyone! I have had my Garmin Forerunner 405 for a year. It started (today) telling me that the "lap database is almost full." How do I clear it out?
