I leave the pap. My small stomach pouch doesn't like it. Still have a tablespoon of sheba and then of course those beloved chops.
I like to make a joghurt dip with julienne veggies (snow peas, carrots, baby marrow, cherry tomatoes etc) (Plain FF joghurt (cup), lemon juice to taste, and two tablespoons of Mrs Balls OR Plain FF joghurt with basil/olive/corriander pesto.) as a starter. It fills me up, and then I can only eat meat during the meal.
OOh fun!

If you'd like to be adventurous, try braaing some fish. I tried out an awesome recipe for geelstert once.
Basically you butterfly the fish and stuff it with basil pesto, red onion, cherry tomatoes and some salt and black pepper. Then wrap it up in foil and throw on the braai. yum yum

I personally always season my meats out of preference. But I like how you're opening my mind to salads, I had a broccoli one once - And it was delicious !

Thank you :)

By the way you can add some marinade to those sosaties if you choose the ones made from ina paarmen with the relish and basil. Very low cal.

For my part, Im a chicken lover, so I usually choose chicken and then make low cal salads that are not the usual old lettuce, tomato and onion. I make broccoli salad and cauliflower salads very different, very delicious, and very filling.
If you give up pap and gravy and stick to salads, you can have your chop.

If you are the garlic bread, pap, chop type braaier.....and you know you are going to braai. Track all your dinner first before you eat any breakfast so you know what you can work with for the rest of the day. You may have to eat oats for bfast, strawberries for yr snack and soup or salad for lunch with gooseberries for yr afternoon snack. That way you can have IT ALL.

I will NOT run emotionally from compliments and hide in fat layers for protection.

Hi there, I am new to Sparkpeople.

I wanted to know, as South Africans emoticon (well most of us), we love to braai.

What are you great ideas for braaing and still staying on track ?

I can suggest :

Lean fillet
Mielies
Chicken - either sosatie or pieces, spiced - not with marinaded
Vegetable sosaties

I am a huge lover of the good old traditional chop (the small ridiculously expensive type), but I want to not only lose weight but get healthier through eating right
