Not every member gets 29 points.
29 points are the minimum points anyone can get.
The points are figured by your age, gender, hight and current weight.
Only the new calculator can calculate it.
To really follow the plan you need the calculator, the first ready start booklet (a thick one that explain the plan plus more, and the food copanion and dining out companion.
Until the end of December they have great sales on these items (50 % off)

My suggestion is that you'll join for as short or as long period that you wish, and get all the new materials as a kit. They have different kits for different prices.

I'll be happy to calculate for you your daily points (everyone gerts the same weekly points: 49), but that will not teach you the new program.
All the points are figured now completely different. By carbs, fat, fiber and protein. So, I think you need the new calculator and the other materials.

I hope it helps

Mimi

do not have the new calculator and stopped going to meetings before the points plus took over so hopefully my magazine subscription will help me understand does everyone have 29 points and 49 weekly allowance if not how is that figured and we need a new point value book as well?

Good for you for eating mostly unprocessed foods -power foods.
The new plan will help more members that were not used to eat mostly unprocessed foods. Those who ate very healthy before, will have no problem adjusting to the new plan.
You're right! you're now more diligent about tracing well, and that will bring eventually a weight loss.
I would like to see how members will lose weight 6 months from now. I believe that all WW programs were successful when members followed the plan 100% or close every week.
The saying: "the plan works when you work the plan" is so true.
You'll do very well because you're eating so healthy.

About the caculator: I don't know because I don't count points.

Good luck

Mimi

It looks like you're at goal. Would you like to lose more weight to get to your happier goal weight?

Our WW leader said that the 29 points are equivalent to the 18 points on the Momentum plan, so we should eat minimum of 29 points.
For those who have hard time eating all their 29 daily points, the suggestion was to eat 24 almonds (raw are best) which are 4 points. Walnuts are great too, and some other nuts too, but I don't know the points for.
Another suggestion to eat with portion control avocado and count the points.
Cheese sticks (low fat) are good protein.
You're lucky to have this problem. I can finish very quickly all my daily points..smile...
Usually, whenever WW come up with a new plan, members lose more pounds than the usual. One reason is that they're foloowing the plan 100%.
Good for you for eating 3 fruits and not 8....or 9....smile...
If you want to lose weight, I'm sure you will succeed very well. If you can maintain your weight for so long, you can lose weight too.

The way I look at the program is that I don't get extra points, either daily or weekly because many food items (carbs) went up. If I'm eating the same foods that I ate on the momentum plan, my daily points of 20 will be now 29, and the same with the weekly points.
Actually, I was supposed to eat 18 daily points on the momentum plan, but I refused to accept it. I used 20 points ...smile...). It worked well for me. I'm maintaining.

I'm following the simply filling technique (now I can stop when satisfied, not full or hungry), so I don't count daily points, which feels having great freedom.
For the last 9 months I'm experimenting with great success NOT counting even my WEEKLY points. Not counting at all.
I eat lots of power foods.
For the last 7 1/2 years I've counted everything every day. Even when I followed the Core plan to the tea, I've counted points everyday (which is the Momentum plan)
Now it feels wonderful not to count at all. maybe this will be the next new plan?.....

Good luck

Mimi

I'm in Canada & it only started last week (Dec 6). I was tracking online on the PP plan but only went to my meeting on Thursday. So officially I've been doing it for only 2-3 days.

I bought a calculator that worked at the meeting, but doesn't work now. I'll have to exchange it on Thursday... so not loving that. And, it didn't take my weight accurately... I can't input 151.8... apparantly it only takes whole numbers... so have to round up or down... not a big deal, but stupid.

As for the plan itself... I'm not convinced this is better than the previous plan. I don't have a problem in factoring in proteins and carbs. But I was not eating many processed foods so the points value for the food I eat have changed very little, if at all. Yet, I now have 29 pts and free fruit where I use to get 19 including fruit!

I asked several people at my meeting how many pts they had before and what they have now... they had a variety... 21, 22, 24... based on their weight... I had 19... now we all have 29! Some of these people were 20 -30 lbs more than me... doesn't make sense.

I think that if I lose weight this week it will be because I'm being much more diligent in tracking and staying on plan than I was before. I'd been on the old plan for 3 years and I will admit I was lax.

I have to believe this new plan has been researched and tested and therefore will work... but right now, I'm skeptical.

"Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that's the stuff life is made of." Benjamin Franklin

I love everything about it except that I am not losing weight. I should have known that not having a hungry edge had it's consequences.
I am not using my 49 points. Nor am I using all of my 29 points. I'm having 3 fruits a day, and now that I am having them, am reluctant to give them up!
The new calculator is great.
My leader said we didn't have to use all the points if we felt satisfied.
And, yes, I ate different foods this week because of the new plan.
I'm happy, satisfied, but not losing weight. Go figure.

Share your thoughts here on the new Weight Watchers PointsPlus plan.

How do you like the new calculator?
What was your first week weight loss? (or gain)
Did you use ALL of your daily points?
How many of the weekly 49 points have you used?
Did you eat more fruit? How many more a day?
Did your protein intake went up?
Did your carbs intake went down?
Did you eat different foods this week because of the new plan?
