Hey everyone - I have a "Praise the Lord" too. DH after being out of work for 9 months has his old job back. The salary will be a little less, as the area and sales are less, but we finally have a second income again. I have completely quit exercising and caring for myself since he lost his job last August. I have had to work so much overtime in order to make our bills, that I have hardly been home enough to see my husband and my children. I am very grateful for my jobs, but working 130 miles from home 4 to 5 days per week and then only being home 2 or 3 days for nearly 9 months has been really tough. Working that much (because we work 12.5 hour shifts at the hospital) never leaves time for exercise - especially since a nurse almost never gets off on time and that 12.5 hour shift can become 13 or 14 hours. Now I can go back to just working my normal 3 twelve hour shifts and be home. I am still continuing to apply for jobs at the hospital close to my home as they come open (they are few and far between for critical care) even though I would lose a significant amount of salary, but being home more with my family is worth it.

I have a Praise the Lord! I was scheduled for a biopsy today because the follow up ultrasound I had April 10th showed a spot had enlarged. When the doctor who was to do the procedure came it and saw the two ultrasounds he said he would try a needle aspiration first and if it was just fluid nothing more would be needed. It was just liquid so I came home with a bandaid and I am fine. The tissue would have been sent to Hawaii because we do not have the labs here to check things like that.

One less thing to be concerned about.

Everyone sounds busy and happy!

I finally got my wheel barrow wheel changed!
Could have been easier, but one of the split lock washers was missing which required a trip to Lowe's.

This is something I've been procrastinating over for years, instead I've just been hauling stuff around in buckets and by dragging... but I need to mix concrete to pour a slab for my rain barrel so I had no choice but to fix it bc that's where I mix concrete.

So silly to have put it off for so long!

Went and had lunch with my parents who are in their 70s & 80s. They live about 35 minutes away.

Had lunch with friends today. Our group has grown to include 13 of us. We will be celebrating two birthdays of ladies in their 70's! We are a very international group with a lady from Bolivia, another from Great Britain, her husband from the Philippines and the rest of us misplaced from the states. Most of the time we are overwhelmed with islanders if we included Micronesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hawaii, Samoa and of course the Chamorro's.

I love this island with all the different people who are here.

I was wondering if any of you had problems with your eye brows thinning out. My left side thinned out so bad until I hardly have any there. They itch like something crazy too.

Our church has been in the process of building a new auditorium. It was started over a year ago and being built as we can pay for it. We have been blessed with others from the states helping with the funds. Today we worshiped in the new building. It is not complete but we did have one air conditioner and a fan. We also share a breakfast between services because one started at 7:00 a.m. Hopefully it will be completely finished before June.

My boys and I went and socialized cats and kittens at our local humane society. It was fun to hear all the different purrs. Hopefully they will all find homes.

Good going, team!

Lots of positivity here!
Sunshine, hope you make your lilac dreams come true.

Debbie your idea is a marvelous suggestion!

Lilaclee, yes mking eye contact and smiling at people can REALLY change how others react to you...how you feel about others in this world, too. For unbelievers out there, follow Lilac's suggestion for a couple of days and see the change... be prepared ... you may get some comments.

Jane how wonderful that you now have an organic gardener on your island! Perhaps you could talk to them about mentoring a community garden for interested residents of your island? Or you could bring the topic up at a town meeting. I know you have a big family on the island, perhaps you can get them involved since your motility is somewhat limited due to your foot/leg injuries.

Guam would benefit from a program that composts the biodegradable waste products of the island residents. Our city here in Plano has a wonderful system of collecting yard trimmings, they compost these wastes, or shred them to make water conserving mulch... then sell them back to the residents... I just bought 14 bags of the compost/potting soil as my compost bin is taking its sweet time to change being as its mostly autumn 2013's leaves mixed in with kitchen scraps.

My contribution today was getting a tip that my City was selling their discontinued organic potting soil mix for $2 a bag... normally its $7! So I repotted most of my outdoor plants yesterday, giving them all a fresh start.

I live on Guam which is over 6,000 miles from Los Angeles and in the tropics so produce shipped here is a couple of days old when it arrives. The delicious looking bags of mixed vegetables are hard to keep and eat.

Recently a local organic farmer has been providing fresh greens to the local restaurants that are delicious and a wide variety. It tastes so good to eat something really fresh.

What a good idea! It can be hard to stay positive when those around you are being negative. Reminding ourselves to look for something good is always a good idea.

Remembering to smile seems to have a good response from those around you. Springtime seems to bring out more smiles with the beauty starting to spring out around us.

Last weekend we hosted a birthday party for 10 adults. Since my husband does the cooking and this time he decided to order pizza and make an appetizer of poutine. ( A Quebec heart clogging food group of fries, gravy and cheese curds.) I decided to offer the guests a alternative to go with the not so healthy fare. I prepared a healthy salad bar with about 15 fixings, just like a restaurant, and it was a real hit. The bonus is I also ate leftovers that stayed fresh for 4 days. The salad bar included spinach, boston lettuce and masculine mix, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, alfalfa sprouts, diced peppers in 3 colours, celery, mushrooms, eggs, roasted chick peas, dried cherries, cottage cheese, whole and ground flax seeds. Sliced lack olives. I was very happy that it was such a hit.

MzzChief what a great idea!! We need to see the positive side of life, not just the troublesome parts! I m so happy that your new bulbs survived the trip and planting. You've just inspired me to go get some bulbs and get ready to plant them. Ive been eyeing some lilacs and as soon as its warmer in can plant them outside.

The sun is shining and the birds are singing and I think ill go take some photographs today of nature in all it's glory.

Enjoy the day that the Lord has made !

Here's mine:

I ordered some star flower bulbs off ebay and they arrived as grown, half dead looking plants, as they'd traveled far and been in the darkness of a box for a week while they shipped.

I planted them anyway, happy to say they have perked right up and are putting out flowers despite their rough handling and journey.

I also found a small live earthworm entangled their roots which was a nice surprise... he went into my soil as well to start his life hundreds of miles away from his place of birth.

Have a fun day!

Hey Team!
We handle a lot of problems here, its easy to forget that we do so many small, positive acts over the course of the day and that others or our environment has brought us Joy.

So I figured we could also have a place where we could post some of the "sumpin good" acts of kindness, healthy behaviors and food choices we make, the small stuff that makes life enjoyable.

Or things others have done for us.

Or nice little surprises... mabbe a problem didn't have as bad an outcome as you'd imagined, or you've noticed the positive results a series of positive changes has wrought, you finally got yourself to stop procrastinating and act ... stuff like that.

Or something beautiful you've seen, that's given you pleasure like new spring growth, ducklings, a sunrise...

I'm sure you are full of ideas and good things, so post away!
Lets keep it positive... start our own little corner of joy right here on our Forum... perhaps your Sumpin Good will inspire others to an act of kindness or lift their spirits.... which is in its own way, Sumpin' VERY Good!
