I usually don't consume flaxseed in the morning. I use ground flaxseed in place of breadcrumb and eat those foods for lunch or dinner.. It can also be mixed with breadcrumb to coat chicken, fish, veggies, etc.

Everyone for responding!

A word about flaxseed...

I love it as well, most recently I've started having some as a porridge for breakfast.

But it can present a problem if you take it in the morning, too soon after your thyroid medication.

The reasons for this are two fold:

1. Flax seed contains a lot of soluble fiber.
Fiber binds thyroid meds in the gut, so that your body can't absorb them.

2. Flax seed has phytoestrogens, (in the form of lignans) which are substances that mimic estrogen in the body.
Estrogens counteract thyroid hormone... the theory is that they compete for the same docking sites on the cell membranes.
That's why you're advised to take your HRT or birth control pill, at the opposite end of the day as your thyroid meds.
Granted, HRT and the Pill are waaaay stronger than Flax seed, but if you find yourself not as perky after a few weeks of Flax use, this may be why.

So make sure you Flax seed no sooner than an hour or longer after your thyroid meds.... or you may find you need a higher dose of thyroid hormone at your next thyroid check up.

Be well, have fun!

PS Flax seed oil doesn't have the fiber or the lignans, but in my opinion, both those things are great! Particularly for those of us who are in perimenopause and beyond.
If you do use flaxseed, be sure to grind it right before use, bc the oil is extremely unstable and can go rancid. I use a small coffee grinder, it works beautifully. I got sick of bringing newly opened bottles of flax oil back to the store for a refund, bc it was rancid

I have Sjogrens too. I read taking fish oil or eating fish, walnuts, grape seed or flaxseed oil works best. These foods are recommended to cure eczema, etc. My doctor said grape seed oil contains the most Omega. I consume all of them, drink coconut water and use baby oil after swimming, showering and my skin is in great shape.

I am glad this oil and method works for you Mzz.

Someone convinced me try e, coconut oil and lotion. I tried each separately. I put the oil in a small, empty after bath spray bottle so I would use little. My body was slipping and sliding all over the place in addition to leaving oil marks on my desk, etc. I tried lotion and shea/ coconut cream next. It worked well when I used before bed, but if I used in daytime, the lotion and cream ran like sweat into my eyes, etc. So, I only use them before bed.

I swim four times a week and been using a little baby oil at end of shower. This keeps my skin moisturized and soft without being greasy.

Good morning, Sparkers!

I've been using vitamin e oil quite regularly on my skin recently and I must say I am loving the results. Stopped using it for a while, which was a mistake.

Its not expensive either.
Been using the Spring Valley brand from Walmart, but I'm pretty sure all of them are similiar.
This one has soy and coconut oil as a base, it comes in a 2 oz bottle. 12,000 IU. Under $5.

As far as oils go, IMO its a good idea to choose smaller bottles of whatever brand you choose, instead of the bigger ones. Reason being the smaller bottles are used up faster, which makes there less chance of the oil base becoming rancid or the vitamin E oxidizing.

I usually put a bit of vitamin c in water and put that on my skin first, after washing or showering. Layer the vitamin e oil over it. If needed some coconut or other oil can be used, or your favorite lotion. Make sure if you use another lotion or oil it does not contain mineral oil, as this oil has a tendency to bind oil based vitamins, which is what vitamin E is.

Be well!

PS the vitamin E in this oil is tocopheryl acetate. Here's something on that:
