5/05/15 238# Day I got my diagnosis of spinal stenosis and told I would be paralyzed 'soon'
12/01/15 Major back/spinal reconstruct and began efforts to walk again and maintain it.

5/09 208.0# chest pain required Nitro x1 last night
5/16 208.5# no more nitro needed - higher pain levels in legs many days -Tylenol used x3
5/23 207.5# today is 3 yr anniv.of heart stents & yesterday had heel procedure so in pain- no walking so will slow down exercises a bit for several days.
5/30 207.5# so another month of staying the same overall - Better than gaining!!

If i was not diabetic, then i doubt I would be low carb. My blood glucose swings too high if I eat too many carbs or the wrong type of carbs. I can eat an apple or an orange and be okay, but if I try to eat half a banana, then my blood glucose goes sky high.

I ordered some coconut milk, and hope I like it, as I do make berry smoothies sometimes, and it would cut down on my carb count. Two grams of carbs per one cup sounds a lot better than 11 grams of carbs.

I am forgetful these days and don't always report in my weight. One team had me weigh in on Wednesday and another team had me weigh in on Friday. (I forgot to weigh on both the days this week...lol!) I would prefer to weigh in once every two weeks. I'd rather focus on what I am doing right than just the number on the scale. I think it is good you are focusing on gaining strength and improving balance. I need that too.

I flirt with the idea of giving up milk, but I like it so much. It would be interesting to give it up for a few weeks just to see what would happen.

I have to remember to take my flax seed oil. It helps with pain and inflammation. I love fish and eat that usually once a week.

Becca, so good to read a little about you and see some of the uphill battles you are fighting.
I have never comprehended how hard it must be for diabetics to maintain their diet, exercise and medications all with other ills and syndromes and things going on at the same time - You have quite a conglomeration! Praying with you that the gym idea will be an asset for you.

So we are both gluten free, the low carb part I don't understand and have never been encouraged to go that route but am working hard at no dairy which HAS been encouraged to go along with the gluten free for celiac and also as anti-inflammatory for fibromyalgia. and am slowly kicking the sugar out of my life - hardwork!!!

I have been plateaued at 206-209# since Christmas...would love to see the scales drop but actually am working hardest at getting strength and balance up and the inflammation down regardless of weight. Keep sharing what you are doing and we will compare notes. Help me to understand your low carbs and what part of the anti- inflammation efforts you are working on.
Monday is weigh in for first of month and the Tuesday is my regular weigh-in days.

Gluten free made me drop 60 pounds. Then I started lower carb. A drug made me go diabetic, and I fought so hard not to be diabetic.

I hope to ultimately get down to 225, but I must confess that I will be happy to maintain 245.

I have an immune disorder too identified as "other" ...lol! It gives me flare ups of intense pain and fatigue. I also have MDD so things get interesting sometimes. I try to do what i can each day, and that has been working for me.

It is harder to lose while on insulin. Doc took me off rapid insulin and i was able to lose the 15 pounds i gained last year. I am still on the long acting insulin and a non insulin injectable.

I have a opportunity to sign up at a church gym which i will do on their anniversary on May 4th. I will get $14 dollars off for the year. I can't wait as exercise and strength training makes my pain better. I am looking forward to getting more fit this spring. They also have cheaper prices for private training which I will pay for to work up a good routine.

I look forward to being active on this team, and have started reading the thread for dr weil.

I started the Ballantyne Paleo AIP protocol (also omitting Candida foods such as fruit and mushrooms) on 1st September at 75.5kg. After one week I lost 1.4kg.
I know we are following anti-inflammatory diets for health reasons but the weight loss is a welcome bonus emoticon

56.8 kilo's today but I also weighed in just after having a glass of water with one of my health supplements that I have as soon as I wake up so perhaps that is partly why i'm up in weight than last week same time.

June weights are starting at 226# so I still have a gain of 6 since January 1
July begins down 2 from June one but still have a gain of 4 since January 1
August accidently got erased when i tried to edit it and add last weight but sometime in there I got down to 220#
Sept Started at 219# so am down one pound from January 1 .. Not much but better than none at all and so much better than gaining!!
Sept would love to see some losses but half way through and not seeing change. Discouraged but being accountable just the same..

Nov 1 - still sitting at 219# [gained a few while on vacation but got them right back off]
Nov 15th -still bouncing between 219 and 220...I guess this is what they call my set point!

Weight has climbed back up but concentrating my efforts in June to take good care of me!!

June weights are starting at 226# so I still have a gain of 6 since January 1:
June 2...225# smiling feeling good
June 9...224# still smiling
Jun 16...224# Hmmm turtle pace again...be consistent and it will come off right???
Jun 23...224# ButBlood pressure is down a little bit and i feel good today!
Jun 30...224# but fibro pain is down with sunshine!!!

Started the new year at 220 --I have seen 216 once this year but have been inching back up

Been yoyo-ing with a couple pounds - back up this week - bladder infection and forcing huge amounts of fluids so might be water retention...

May12 =225# Waaaaaa up again! Feet swelling badly but not aware of salt issue ---will keep a list for the Doctor and if no improvement will have to give in and go see him.
May19 =224# Help and hope arises
May26 =226# hope fading but husband's health crisis is doing better so maybe I can concentrate on taking care of me soon - I know that is an excuse but that is also my reality.;-(

Saturday mornings weigh-in at home ... [changing from long pattern of Tuesday mornings!! ]
Started the new year at 220 --I have seen 216 once this year but have been inching back up
April 10th.223#
April 14 ... 222# and feeling fat and puffy - having a lot of ankle swelling in evenings.

April 21 ...221# ankle sweelling is still bad - BP is ok, slat intake is OK, maybe I'm just getting older and that is part of it??? Hmm - might have to do see dr about it someday..haha

April 28 ... 220# Not fair to have weigh in the morning after a birthday party but hapily was down one more and my new years weight ...now to start dropping down in the teens again!!!
And that party was at a restuant that claims to have gluten free menu - first time to eat out and not be sick the next day!!!

Mar 20, '12 ...220# [Mar 16th through 27th "70 of fewer Net Carbs" goal] Succeeding in gradually lowering Net carbs and blogging about every 2 days instead of my goal of every day - but am learning how and what to eat - feeling positive even though the scales are not changing . it will come if I am faithful...Right??

Apr 03, '12 ...222#...discouraged that low carb is no breaking the plateau - starting up my seated elliptical exerciser to see if that helps pick up the metabolism - stress markers are running high and not getting good sleep could also be affecting the plateaus
Apr 10, '12 ...223# WHOA...stop ...why is the scale gong up ...I think I dropped the calories too low. So will have to find a better route here ...so frustrating to concentrate on one area and gain weight in the process - I will do my very best to balance all the education and settle into good health. The elliptical will be my one new things for the rest of this month...build consistency

Continued to count calories carefully while i was gone, but, I was eating food that others prepared for me, and it was difficult to keep white flour products/simple carbs at an appropriate level.)

I'll join you all - the accountability will help me! I'm starting out at 144.8 (151 is the heaviest I've ever been. My goal is to get down to 125 this summer. Is anyone out there trying to adapt the anti-inflammatory diet to gluten-free? I'd love to see Spark create a gluten free, vegetarian diet. Good luck everyone

Gained 0.4 lbs, but, lost 1/2" in my waist. My goal, at this point, is to maintain in the 107-118 pound range, and to get down to a 31.5" waist (50% of my 63" height). So, I'm still within my weight goal, and going the right direction with my waist measurement.

In December 2011, my weight fluctuated between a high of 120.6 lbs, and a low of 116.8 lbs. My waist measurement varied from 34" down to 33.5".

My starting weight, in September 2010, was 180 lbs. My current goal, for my weight, is to get and maintain somewhere in the 107-118 lb range (based on various online calculators, my height of 5'3", and my small body build). My current goal for my waist measurement is to get down to 50% of my height, which would be 31.5".
