Use the Nutrition Tracker for an over-the-month perspective. Track (your choice) calories, carbs, protein, or fats each day. Note the total amount for the day. Post here: under, over, or just right for your range? Now, FORGET that number!!! Move on to the next day! Look for a trend at the end of the month.

Choose either The Wonderland Trail or The Tahoe Rim Trail.

Please post your total miles and % completed on your tracking thread. It will help me figure out how to best plan for November.

emoticon The Wonderland Trail within Mount Rainier National Park, Washington - part 2

The Wonderland Trail is one of the premier backpacking trails in the Pacific Northwest. The Wonderland Trail explores the glacial valleys and volcanic ridges of Mount Rainier in the state of Washington.

Usually after the middle of September, heavy precipitation returns to the Northwest. While you should always be prepared to face bad weather regardless of the time of year, expect a greater chance of sideways rain and snow in the autumn. Rivers can surge in hours, trees can blow down in high winds, and whiteout conditions can sometimes hit higher elevations. In the park, the roads to the high elevation trailheads close after the first snow. In a typical year, the Wonderland Trail is accessible from late July to the end of September.

The Wonderland Trail measures in somewhere around 93 miles. One trail option is a 140.7 mile loop (338,596 steps) using the Walking4Fun site. Look for the Wonderland Trail.

emoticon The Tahoe Rim Trail

The Washoe called the lake, "Da ow a ga," literally, "edge of the lake." Early white explorers mispronounced "Da ow" as "Tahoe," giving the Lake an English version of its Washoe name.
Lake Tahoe is one of the 20 oldest lakes in the world, dated at about 2 million years old. Lake Tahoe is 122,200 acres of cobalt blue water and reflections of the Sierra. Sixty-three streams flow into Lake Tahoe. Only one, the Truckee River, flows out.

Glenn Hampton, a recreation officer of the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit of the U.S. Forest Service, first proposed the Tahoe Rim Trail in 1978. Construction of the trail began in July of 1984 and the last section was completed in September of 2001, almost entirely through volunteer effort. Since 1984, more than 100 miles of trail have been built or improved around the lake.

The trail is well-marked and easy to stick to, but you’ll still need a map because only major junctions have signs and markers. In winter, under a 10-foot blanket of snow, signs and the trail may not be visible. Most of the trail melts out by the end of June. However, freezing temperatures and snow can occur any time of year. Expect snow at high elevations and on north-facing slopes through July and early August, and be prepared for it year-round. Heavy snows return in October. The trail is open all year, but some trailheads close in winter. There are 10 official trailheads (and a few unofficial ones) along the Tahoe Rim Trail.

The Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) extends over 160 miles (260 kilometers) along the mountain ridges encircling Lake Tahoe, passing through six counties in two states.
