I am working on my bedroom in general but will get to my closet as part of that this week (I will use the closet cleaning piece below as a guide. My goal this month is to have it all spotless by the time April is through and to begin organizing my office that is in need of a thorough scrub down. I keep all my papers in organized notebooks but haven't put papers away since my shoulder surgery because I could not. I would be happy if in April I take on that stack of papers and start a scrub-down of my office after finishing my bedroom. How about you?

I'm working on my clothes this week so I thought I'd reboot this topic - I'm going to go through my closet today and tomorrow and do these steps in two days. And I have one more dresser drawer to go through but it's a small drawer and I know I did it last summer so it shouldn't need much work.

Day 1 - take everything out of the closet that you haven't worn in the last year. (other than formal dresses or things you only wear for special occasions )

Day 2 - take out anything that needs to be mended or repaired

Day 3 - take out anything that doesn't fit well - try them on in front of a mirror if you're not sure

Day 4 - Take out each piece that is left in the closet and ask 'Is this my best colour? Is it flattering? Do I love it? - keep anything that gets a Yes answer

Day 5 - Take out everything in the closet that doesn't belong - gifts, boxes, toys, miscellaneous stuff.
Also take a moment to reflect on what you've removed from the closet in the first 4 days - is there anything that made you second guess your decision (ie you didn't want to get rid of something that cost a lot of money? Or "I might wear it again" "it might come back in style" "I'll wear it when I lose weight" - take those items and put them in a different closet, out of sight

Day 6 the only thing left in your closet are things that fit and that you love - now you can organize it all - by type of clothes, colour, style

Day 7 analyze what you have left - do you have enough tops to go with the pants or skirts, or do you need accessories? - make a list of clothes you need to replace to make what you have useful - keep the list with you when you're out shopping so you only buy what you need

I think I need to have a plan for where to put the miscellaneous stuff - and I need to get hubby to put up a shelf for my shoes (conveniently he has tomorrow off --- insert evil laugh here ---).

Your energy is felt by others and seen in the form of your body language. Your body language is determined by how you feel and what you feel is determined by what you believe. So, if you believe you look great and you like yourself it shows up in your body language and becomes a dynamic image. Appearance, behaviour and communication all come together to make up - Your Image - what people see and how they come to know you. This is the simplified version but you get it, right?

Let's get back to the closet. What I've noticed is that most women have a closet that is not helping their energy or their body language. Their closets are stuffed. Some are simply stuffed and they can't find anything, others are stuffed with clothes they don't like and don't wear. While others have everything except the kitchen sink in there. With all that clutter how can they possibly come out dressed well and feeling good? Hmmmm....

If your closet is stuffed and cluttered, what I'm going to do is help you get your closet organized and ready for summer, fall and beyond. Sound like fun? And, it's my guess you're going to feel a whole lot better.

Starting July 2nd I will make a video a day with each step in the declutter challenge and at the end of 7days you will have de-cluttered your closet. Each step will only take you about 10 minutes. If you're like most women you really don't want to tackle this job and that's half the reason it isn't done - so I will make it as painless as possible."
