Celebrated my daughter's birthday yesterday. Went a little over my calorie goal, but not way over. About 400 cal. was all. I think that was pretty good.

Stayed within my range today. Had an Arbys beef and cheddar and a frosty for lunch but did not have any snacks today and my breakfast was way under on calories too. So it was a special thing....haven't had one in ages. Had a big fresh salad with chicken for dinner. Got my 10 min. of exercise in today too.

Went to the store to day and bought strawberries, oranges, grapes, and bananas and some baby carrots. Also got a fruit and nut mix that has pecans, cashews, pistachios and dried cranberries and cherries in it. 1/4 cup is 150 cal.

Got my five servings in but didn't eat my apple. I'll make sure I get to it early today so as not to miss it. I like apples, but I'd eat them even if I didn't if there is even a slight chance they really keep doctors away!

This is my 2nd try at week 1, lol. Hey, whatever it takes. I am doing VERY well. I had a green bean and almond recipe on my daily food tracker that I've made 3 times this week. 24 green beans is just so delicious and healthy that I LOVE it. I made it for my parents and sis in law, too.

I'm also down 3 pounds so I should be even more grateful for green beans. :) Hanging in there and can't wait to see what next week brings.

Did ok today. Need to go to the store to stock up on fruits and veggies to add to my meals and snacks. Had an apple today and two servings of veggies with dinner. At the top end of my calorie range today. Still need to do my exercise. Had steak, a mini ear of corn and baked beans. Splurged on a snack and had a pepsi today.

Yesterday I was hungry by 10:30 in the morning and had a snack, but it didn't help much. I was good and kept eating veggies and fruit all day and finally after a supper of Kashi Southwestern chicken and a large salad, it settled down, but with all the veggie eating I hadn't eaten enough protein or calories, so I had a strawberry milk shake (just milk and frozen strawberries blended) as an evening snack. Hoping today will be better.

A couple of trip-ups, but got back on to watching what I ate and size of portions. First week was ok, on to the second. Weekends are my weakness.

Yesterday I wasn't hungry at all. But today, after having the same breakfast, I was starved by 10:30 am and ended up having a little brown rice, cod, and peas mixed together (sounds icky maybe, but I like it). Just realized I should have left the rice out and added more veggies to the cod. I'll try to remember next time.

This is Day 2 , Week 1 for me. I added spinach to my egg whites this morning. they were delicious. I will add this to my breakfast choices.
I have ate more vegetables today than I normally would and found myself full and no hunger pangs most of the day.

I did however buy a cookie at Dunkin Donuts - I thought going with an Oatmeal Raisin would be the best choice. NOPE!!! 470 calories!!! I will not do that again. It blew my calorie intake! emoticon

Luckily I had a lot of exercise today so between the extra veggies and extra workout maybe it will balance out. I really want to at least lose 1 lb this week.

My 4th day....decide to meet friends for lunch at Boston Market....they have the new Baked Whitefish....so I had that with the steamed veggies. Fish was very tasty but veggies too much pepper on them. I found out the fish was 470 calories!!! I should of only ate half or skipped the corn bread (200 calories more)!!!!

Still 3.5 lbs down, so will keep logging my nutrition & exercise!!!

So far, I've managed to eat what I planned to eat for today. I was a lil surprised that today is a meatless Monday for me, and it happened accidentally. I need to make this mistake every Monday. I'm well past my water quota (90 oz).

Overwhelmed by all the choices, selections, videos, and more. This site has a lot to offer. Problem I have is most of my foods I make myself, it's not pre-packaged so most of the time I sub on the nutrition list of foods. Probably not a good thing. However, I am new and still navigating around the site learning new things.

Before I started working out I really couldn't cause my legs, arms, and hands would swell up, the more I try to exercise or walk from point A to point B my legs would swell. Found out later it was due to my right kidney (RCC/CCC) had a mass. Thankfully, caught in time surgery was Jan 28, 2013 and I'm cancer free now. Few weeks after surgery I began exercising and the swelling is at a minimum. The more I exercise now, the better my legs, arms, and hands all feel not to mention just an overall wellness.

Today I will eat homemade "Broken Bean Soup" it contains 4-5 different types of veggies one of which is spinach. I will add at least 2-3 servings of fruit and my hardest to consume but getting easier as time goes by....8 glasses of water. I will burn at least 3,000 calories goal is set at burning 5,000...today is Friday so I know it will be difficult to get in a work out this weekend...plus I feel a cold coming on.

If I accomplish today's goals I might treat myself to a Redbox movie for tonight and relax.

Exercise has many psychological benefits including renewed confidence and self esteem.

emoticon I think I did a emoticon job..... Had a wonderful salad before dinner which included my cauliflower, lettuce, cucumber & tomato....and at night my strawberries/banana. Had my organic oatmeal with strawberries for breakfast.

I didn't want to snack much during the day ...but I did have a rice cake with 1 tsp of peanut butter.

I also tried the new Spark Cookbook recipe: pecan maple chicken....didn't use the orange juice.
turned out so tender and a GREAT taste!!!

So far I'm down 4 lbs since Monday....I'll continue to keep track of everything I eat.

I'm on day two today - I will get my 5 vegetable servings through a soup for lunch and a salad for dinner. My soup has half a butternut and one onion. My salad will be made up of 100g cucumber, 1 medium tomato, 1 medium carrot, 3 mushrooms, fat free feta and reduced fat greek dressing. I will have it with potato wedges made in an air fryer and a breast. I will add one serving of fruit to my breakfast and have 2 servings of fruit as a snack.

welcome sunny, it is pretty amazing how eating right makes you feel so much better and of course the exercise too.
Most of my cravings are gone now, its a little hard to get enough calories in when you are eating healthy foods (veggies and fruits) they dont seem to add up to much. I still havent quite hit 5 servings a day though. I am working on it.

Welcome Sunny! I just joined this team this week also. I agree I feel better with eating healthier and exercise!

PA about this little GREEN GIANT sponsor. I know FRESH vegetables are best and frozen are good to. I kind of "forgot" frozen PLAIN are good. Yesterday I bought some Green Giant broccoli and rice and cheese something or other to have for lunch. Hello sodium? 920g? Geez! I'm not buying anything frozen unless it's under 100 grams per serving.

Rant over....I have frozen chopped broccoli to make broccoli quesadillas for lunch. Yum!

Have a great day!

Call your doctor- sounds like you are retaining fluid for some reason and if your legs are swollen it could be a medical problem like heart or blood presure. Badly swollen legs and rapid fliud gain need to be seen by Doctor!

Sandra,

Nothing is worse than swollen feet or legs! I just went through that. My oncologist did not feel comfortable prescribing a water pill because they will reduce sodium levels which he has to watch as an indicator of new cancer activity. He had me do three things...monitor my sodium intake so that it maintained needed levels and did not exceed 2300. . . drink only 64 oz. of water (I was drinking water and coffee about the same amount...and he suggested that I try 2 midol daily. (If you are on any kind of medicine do not do this w/o discussing with DR first because everything has to work together). I don't know your age but I am 67.

I don't know if you have tried any of this but SP is a great place to do the monitoring! Good Luck!!

My weight is up again and I can't understand why. I now have ten pounds to loose instead of four. I am very disappointed. Also my legs have swollen up real bad. I am going to dig deeper into this.

Day Two on this Challenge Team, Day Three on SP. I really feel much better already, its amazing what a shift in diet and a little exercise will do. I started taking a couple vitamins as well, and all together, I'm on Cloud 9. This is the fun part for me, because in the beginning I seem to shed pounds easily and notice the positive changes from the get go. I'm excited to be here and wish everybody well.

I had been going through that for a while. I know it is no fun. I think I am back to normal now. I fight low sodium counts so much that I can't take fluid pills so I got my oncologist to agree to let me use M idol. It is working! But I "gotta" tell you that the look on the clerk's face was priceless when I asked her where it was the first I time purchased ...(I haven't needed in 22 years)...so to make her fell better I helped her by telling her that it was for my granddaughter..... emoticon

After starting over fresh on Monday for my week 1 I am feeling much better about this week than my previous try last week. I was definitely not focused on my goals and didn't think that I could do it, but this week has gone pretty well and it gives me more motivation to continue and do better each day! I don't think that I have hit my fruits and veggies goal quite yet, but am much closer than I have ever been! Even though I don't feel like I am losing any weight yet I do on the other hand already feel like I have much more energy which is another motivator! I am ready to keep going and prove to myself that I can reach my goals!

Tuesday night we always get pizza for dinner due to some after school activities. I used to eat one piece with a large salad, but I have gotten away from that in the past year. Last night, I am happy to report, I ate about 2 cups of steamed broccoli and one piece of thin crust pepperoni. I ate the broccoli first and honestly didn't want to eat another piece.

With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

I got a sugar craving last night but instead of giving into puppy chow or ice cream I got out my juicer and my little girl made juice with apples, carrots and celery instead. Cured my craving and helped me reach my fruit/veggie goal for the day.

Well, I can see there have been tons of posts here, but alas, with a very busy w/e that did not go well for my eating goals, I have not been one of them. 3000 members on this challenge. Do you believe it ! It's awesome :) Anyway, although I didn't meet my personal goals, I did meet the challenge goals which were to find your calorie range and to consider mini-meals, so I'm off to week 2 and hopefully it will go better for me. Now I better go eat breakfast.

I've been having fruit smoothies for breakfast to get those fruits. Lunch has been soup or a wrap, not both. Wraps are great to stuff with veggies. Dinner has been portion control, portion control, portion control. emoticon

I need to hear myself say this. I have lost 9 lbs from my 24 lbs gain while on a new medication. Thanks be to the doctor who put me back on my old medicine. I'm back on the road again. emoticon emoticon

Have a blessed day and wonderful journey to the new you!

Well, I'm staying in my Spark calorie range. I do not know how to determine if it is the right range for me to lose at. So far I'm using the Spark menu plan which should I like.

I don't know what part of me thought that Thursday would be a good day to start. Had a difficult weekend with two (long planned) evenings out. One of them was for a Burns Supper (I'm Scottish) and there is nothing remotely healthy about that except for the green beans on the side. Plus the fact that we had to wait so long for the meal that I simply inhaled it. No matter. Onwards and downwards! This coming weekend is not going to be any better. I'm staying in a hotel for a work event on Friday, followed by Burns Supper no.2 on Saturday. Give me strength someone!

Brisk walking for 20 - 30 mins a day, uphill a lot. Having no trouble whatsoever eating my 5 veg plus quite a lot of fruit too and drinking gallons of water. Just need a spell of no socialising!

Staying within my calorie range. Fitness not as good due to flare-up of lower back problem over the weekend. Couldn't do much exercising. Better today!

Staying within my ranges and tracking everything. Not even hungry :)

It's not a short-term diet. It's a long-term lifestyle change.

Day 2 went well. I stayed within my ranges, calories were on the low side but that works better for me anyways. Drank a lot of water. Exercised.

Since my car accident last Saturday I can't do most exercises so I have adapted to walking only and have really watched my nutrition. Hopefully by next week I can do more.

I have been working toward substituting my favorites for healthier choices. Today I tried a new recipe and made Banana Pancakes. They are awesome! Hard to believe you can make pancakes from a mashed banana and one egg. It was so easy. I threw them into a blender to make the batter and cooked it up just like pancakes. It makes 3 pancakes. You can add blueberries, sliced bananas or nuts to add variety. You have to try this! emoticon
