Justyna - is the spearmint for flavour, or is there some other benefit? I know mints are supposed to help with digestion...

The idea of a glass of water each time you go to the washroom is a good one - I think I'll try to figure out how I can do that in my downstairs washroom (the one I use most often, but not where I brush my teeth so not usually a glass there!)

THANKYOU Seawavefor posting this! I have done the opposite but I honestly can't say I have tracked my water for a while and now am curious how much I am drinking.

I have put a small cup in the bathroom so every time I go in there I have a small amount of water. Every time I plug in the kettle I have another drink of water... but small. I try and drink one cup of water for each mug of caffeine I am about to drink. I have water at lunch and dinner and with my pills. And then I can have as much herbal tea as I want. I think.... I am doing OK.

My issue was when I drank large quantities of water I was peeing all the time. My kids told me that you should drink 1/2 to 3/4 cup at a time, about once an hour so I changed from my big cups. But I would benefit from having my water bottle by the computer.

I have "discovered" essential oils and am enjoying spearment in my water. You have to use glass though as the oil will distroy the plastic if it sits for long.

AAAACK - I do the same thing (with a 20 oz bottle). It also has a ring counter on it, so I can track how many times I've filled it. Another way of tracking that has worked for me at work (my bottle doesn't have a ring counter) is putting an elastic around my bottle every time I finished drinking a bottle. Bonus - it's easier to hold onto when I'm going to meetings.

I fill a 24 oz water bottle first thing in the morning. I fill it again when empty, so I know it's been 3 of the 8 glasses per day. Sometimes by nightfall, I've already filled it 4x or more. When I don't fill it and try using an actual glass, I fall short of the 8 glasses somedays b/c it means I have to stop what I'm doing and refill, not always the choice I make. So having a full water bottle helps me a ton.

The topic of the discussion is Honouring H20 - water. The goal is 1.9 L/64 oz per day, but many of us fall short of that goal.

In your journal, keep a daily log of your water intake. Do you find yourself resistant to drinking that amount of water? What is it that bothers you? Reach for water instead of a snack - give it a few minutes, and see if you still feel hungry. Often, those hunger signals are mixed up with thirst.

What strategies can you think of to help you drink more water? Where are you when you forget to drink water - at work, watching tv, on the computer? How can you change that? Each day is a trek in the desert, and your water is your oasis. Plan your consumption. In a few days, step on the scale. Any changes?
