Didn't do step ups either. I did climbing the stairs today. If I went up and down today once I did it a dozen times. I was carrying things up and down too.

Fell by the wayside last year but back on track now.

Didn't do any step=ups, but I did get some indoor walking today, along with Lower Body Strength Training.

A wee bit of bonus exercise for this week -
Every time you go past a staircase, do some step-ups with the bottom step!

Every day is a new one so even if you have been off exercise for a bit Auna at least you are getting back into the right frame of mind.

Sorry to hear your mother didn't enjoy the needlework. I like doing tapestry. they come with a design already printed on and you use cross stitch or half cross stitch to sew them but they are much easier to see so your mother may well enjoy them more. They sound a bit like the burlap you mentioned.

Today I have been planting up some bulbs but it has started to sleet so I've chucked it for today.

My mom's been wanting to get some yard debris gathered together, to be hauled off, but it's been too cold! I didn't know clematis could be trained up a tree like that. We have some outside too! My mom keeps it pretty low to the ground usually, and I don't know that I like it that way. I always feel sorry for it, actually. It never gets to be very big, and it looks sad to me.

The class was sort of nice, but I was a little disappointed that we were the only ones there. I guess it was a private class. I was hoping to get my mom some friends. I'm always hoping she'll meet someone new. Her other friends didn't take care of their health at all and they've died. Anyway, other than that, I was sorry to see that I couldn't keep up with what my mom was doing as I sat across from her. She seemed to be having real trouble, and kept getting help from the teacher, who kept saying, "Oh, that's another rookie mistake." My mom thinks it's all too little and she hates it! That's the opinion she's formed of it. I wish now that I had taught her myself, after learning a little more. Because she's probably just going to stick with her first impression. I keep telling her, though, that you don't have to work with little things like in the class. You can use yarn, rather than embroidery floss, and a canvas with bigger holes. You can also use burlap, I've noticed, which might be more to her liking. I saw an owl in a magazine that can be made with burlap.

I haven't been able to exercise for a while, because I'm getting over a urinary tract infection. Well, I think that's finally over with, actually. Now I'm having a very uncomfortable period. When that's over, I'll start over with my exercising. I'll have lost some muscle tone, with the long break, so I won't be at the same level that I was.

Been back in the garden again. Planting some hardy geraniums and some other things that needed potting on. Took nearly a couple of hours and involved some heavy lifting so good exercise one way and another.

The cardboard outer had purple and yellow on the box so I think that's probably what will come up. They're hardy here so can go outside any time but as they're in small pots, only 15 corms, I shall keep them indoors until they start to show some colour.

Today I was outside again. We have a clematis that has been growing over some shrubs and into a plum tree above but since the tree's been pruned it has been falling off. My job today was to take down the last of it without taking anything off the clematis. Then I pruned the shrubs and led the clematis around so we can train it up the tree from a better position. That took fully half an hour and I was quite breathless afterwards. It's about 15 feet high so the runners are very long and required to be hauled across the small border. I then took a short walk up the drive to check some bulbs I'd taken from pots to stick into a little gully at the side. There are shoots of daffodils showing through so I was delighted to see my plan had worked.

The walking and exercise bike sounds a great idea. It doesn't really matter too much how much you do so long as you keep doing it. That sounds a great way to get some in.

My daughter used to do needlepoint but I'm afraid it isn't one of my hobbies. I have done wool tapestries and lots of sewing but embroidery and needlepoint are to fine for me. I hope you and your mother have a great time at that class. Chasing for buses will add to your exercises too.

Those are great activities! Do you know what color or colors your crocuses are going to be? When do they go outside, in March?

I walked today, and was a little faster! I also did my exercise bike. I'm trying to do both every day.

Tomorrow is going to be very busy! My mom and I are going to a needlepoint class in the morning. We don't usually do things in the morning. It will be a challenge getting out in time! We have to take two buses.

Did a little bit of gardening. Planted up some pots of crocuses I was given at Christmas. Took me about half an hour.

I took a couple days off, because I didn't feel well. I think I'm feeling better, though, so I should be back at it tomorrow!

Wow, that was a good start to the year Auna. I didn't go out much today. It is dull, dank and dreich so I stayed inside today. I will be out tomorrow though so I should manage a bit more then.

Well, it's a good thing you're walking, because that's one of the things I'm trying to do every day now! Yesterday, I walked two miles, and today my mom and I did a lot of walking around downtown and at the mall.

Today is beautiful but very cold here. I went out and did a short walk, lasted about ten minutes so I've made a start.

I missed it too!

Woke up with a migraine, so went back to bed. By the time I was feeling up for it, it was getting dark.

So, tomorrow . . .

Sorry, I've missed today! A common complaint at this time of year but it is already dark here. Nice idea though, I shall see what I can do over the next week.

Welcome to 2019 - well, in 4 hours 5 minutes for me!

Our task for the rest of this week, to and including Saturday, is: WALKING.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Let's get out there, weather permitting and have a walk - each and every day if possible. Yes, that includes 1st January. It used to be a major family thing to do on New Year's Day, though it doesn't seem to be so done so much now, which is a shame. Then again, when I was wee, there was always at least a heavy frost, if not snow, so it was lovely to get out for a brisk turn.

Let's see what we can do for the rest of this week.
