Yesterday, 5/21/13, was Day 2 for me. I started the day off right with a bowl of oatmeal, milk and had my fruit mid-morning and at the office. By lunch time I was STARVING even though I I ate more than I normally do.

For lunch, I had a scheduled meeting at a local restaurant so I tried to be good with out starving myself. A salad would not have cut it since I am hypoglycemic and needed energy for my zumba class later in the day. From all the goodies on the menu, I ordered a grilled chicken pesto wrap and only ate half for lunch. I also at the fries that came on the side but made sure I wasn't going over board.

After work, was my hour long zumba class; which I was a bit tired for but still pushed myself.

Since the hubby wasn't home for dinner, I just ate the other half of my wrap and that was about it. My calorie intake was about 1400 for the day.

Ok Tesenisisi, tomorrow I'll post in your thread.

I eat oatmeal with fruit a lot so I'm used to it but it's a favorite meal of mine. Instead of tonight's listed dinner, I had leftovers from last night's dinner, Southwestern Chicken. We got a few more groceries today, to fill in over the next several days.

I did the strength training from the book today and enjoyed it. emoticon

So far so good. The meals are very good. I loved the oatmeal and curried chicken. Tomorrow night is date night so I will see what I can eat. May just do a salad for dinner.
the meals are time consuming but worth it. I didn't think I would like the tuna but I did.

Maybe to make this easier we can just start a new thread for our group using the date for our day 1, 2, etc. I am usually the first one to post so I will start the new thread each day. See you all tomorrow!!!

May 21, Day 2 ~ I'm an oat meal fan. I can't do eggs. So I'll stick with oats. I loved the curried tuna salad sandwich, as did my sister. We eat pretty light, so I'm switching most of the lunches to evening meal when she gets home. I love having a plan made for me. It made grocery shopping so easy today. First time ever to get the prepared beef - I forget where in the week that comes. Have a great night!

Great job Julie...Jagg and Julie I have had to swap out some of the ingredients as I am allergic to milk and a couple other foods, but I also want to make the meals as they are laid out right now as I want to try all the meals and then make changes to the menu plan later. Oatmeal is one of those things I will simply not be able to manage. I got through 2/3 of it today, but that was as far as I could go. It seems to be a textural thing for me, as the flavor is fine, especially with the blueberries.

Brightest Blessings!

Day two: Going good. Eating well today, and I also swap out meals for the ones that I either do not like or if I really enjoy something else on the two week plan. Did the strength training but did as best as I could since I have always struggled with planks and push-ups. I am hoping as this continues, that I will see an improvement in the strength of my muscles in those two areas. Hope all is going well for everyone emoticon

TESENISIS1 what I did was pick and chose the meals to try. Being in week two I still have only tried three breakfasts that I totally enjoy. I swap some ingredients here and there on recipes.

I tried some lunches ,snacks and dinners. The ones I tried were fantastic and I had plenty of leftovers to carry over to other days. My approach is I will have time to try other meals. This is going to be a continuous process of a healthy lifestyle. This also helps with the cost when you are feeding more than one.

So give yourself a break try some now try some later. Just focus on matching the nutrients and calories for each meal. Have Fun!!!

May 20th group...just beginning day 2...not a fan of oatmeal, almonds or curry, so this should be an interesting day. My 2 & 4 yo both loved the dinner last night and ate well. I am still working on my oatmeal...taste good with the blueberries in it, but still struggling with the oatmeal... emoticon emoticon Not so sure about the curried tuna, but I will do my best. May have to make adjustments in the future.

Planning to get my exercise in when the little one is down for a nap again...that seemed to work out really well.

UPDATE: I could only finish 2/3 of the oatmeal...but the curry was actually not too bad.

day 2 was good, again stayed with in my calorie range, but had a headache so my workout consisted of walking the dogs and walking to my tops meeting. but again felt good and slept well.

and i totally agree with the person with the kindle, i have a nook and its great that i can take it with me but its no good as far as following day by day. so i'm thinking of going out and buying the hard copy of it.

I'm loving the new recipes, but will need to adjust them for my small family of two. I had leftovers from Day 1 for Day 2 dinner. I find it very difficult on my Kindle to move from day plan to recipes and back, especially since the recipes are listed by meal, but not by day. Other than that, I am very happy with the program.

Diner was very good. Took me along time to prep, I had never cut cilantro or zest a lemon, but I watched chef meg videos and did fine. I only had one enchilada, too many calories

Curried tuna was good, I was surprised, I didn't have a pita so I used a sandwich thin. Had watermelon and was too full for carrots and dressing.

I managed to mostly follow the meal plan (had Day 1 leftovers for dinner instead of Day 2 dinner), did my walking at lunch and with my dog in the evening, and did most of the strength exercises. Unfortunately, my lower back pain is back, so I had to avoid a couple of the exercises. I replaced those with my physical therapy exercises, though!

My guy asked how I could possibly lose weight when I'm eating "real" foods on this "diet"... lol. So far I've liked some recipes but not others - but it's been fun to try the new ones! Today is shaping up well for meals, not sure what I'll work in for the cardio tonight. I loved the curry tuna sandwich, wasn't as fond of the oatmeal (but then, I've never been fond of oatmeal).

Thanks for the inspiration, team!

I did a terrible job sticking to the menu plan. Gave into temptation/peer pressure to eat what we served at lunch at work instead of what I had made. Will do better. Did walk 35 min in 2 stents on work breaks.

Day 2 was good. The enchiladas were terrific, but I have a lot of leftovers. Into the freezer in individual servings with you. Exercise was a bit over the top since I was mulching flower beds for 4 1/2 hours. Ouch. Perhaps I will take it in smaller doses from now on. Flower bed looks beautiful, however.

Had a great day yesterday. I have too many health problems and food allergies to exactly follow the presented program, but I find that keeping with the general program is a great help to keep me doing my best. This is a great kick start to get me going again.

Day 2 went well for me. Ate within calorie range, but not from the menu. Getting fruits and vegetables in. Finished about 1/2 of the workout, but at least attempted. I know that persistence will pay off.

Day Two went well. My hubby asked me out to eat and we went to Ruby Tuesday and I got the "Petite Lunch Creole Catch"(Tilapia, broccoli and potatoes). I entered the items separately and it was still within the calorie range. Yay! The rest of the day went okay...but I put too much red onion in the enchiladas and had to nibble a half piece of salami to get the onion taste out of my mouth! emoticon

The strength training winded me! Yikes!

Day 2 went pretty well. The food plan is less intimidating as I read this thread and see what others have done to add flexibility. Went to a long meeting this morning and ended up taking a long walk late (to the grocery store for some missing ingredients) and then beginning dinner. DH is wonderfully supportive and has commented that in his opinion this new plan takes more of my time in the kitchen. He liked dinner on Day 1 but not Day 2. But I expect that reaction with all new recipes anyway.
I am finding that I am not turning to food and not getting hungry. I really like that feature!
I am 71 years old (read lower calories allowed), 5'1" tall (lower calories) AND have thyroid issues (lower calories). So far I have had only 1 snack each day and have not eaten the entire menu either. It is difficult to know what to do to keep things in check. But I will keep trying.

Day 2 went pretty well. Stayed within my calories. I have to get in the exercise though. I have been so focused on the food part and getting that routine down. Family enjoyed the enchiladas. I found that the 10 min prep time in the book was more like a good 30 min prep time. Got 7 of my 8 glasses of water in. emoticon So on to day 3.... emoticon

Today we made the southwestern chicken with quinoa instead of brown rice which DH does not like. It is healthy but has more calories. Since following this diet I have been at the high end of my calorie range. Will see how that goes. We enjoyed the chicken dish and have enough for another meal or two. That recipe makes a lot. I am definitely getting in more freggies and being more careful to do so.

Did well again today emoticon I didn't really care for the Curried Tuna Salad, felt like it needed a little more zip. DS and I both liked the Quick Chicken Enchiladas, not a hit with the rest of the family though. DS ate 2 helpings, to be 13 with a hollow leg... emoticon

I made Day 1 egg/Canadian bacon scramble with orange for breakfast and Day 2 tuna with 1/2 pita bread for lunch, I had 2 squares of semi/sweet chocolate. (a no no I guess) Although I stayed within my calorie range of 1200-1300 and tracked my day. I used the left over SW chicken and rice with chili powder and cumin. I am enjoying the recipes and am motivated to do curves m w f and walking when possible t thur sat. Today I had a lot of yard work to catch up on. I love using the book for new solutions to weight loss. It is a good read. I did not make the smoothie but will try it tomorrow. I use protein powder with my smoothies. emoticon

I made healthy food choices.

Was physically active gardening. Strength raining.

Took care of a friend who had a knee replacement 3hrs.

I imagined myself sitting cross legged when I do my cool down, which I used to do an cannot now.

Ready to take on Day 3 curves day! emoticon

The 1st 2 days have gone well. I have enjoyed the recipes and have not been hungry. LOVED the shake and smoothie. emoticon But, was also pleasantly surprised with the "Curried Tuna Salad". IMO the curry and cranberries REALLY helped! (NOT a tuna/fish fan) emoticon
I think I will perhaps try a different salsa if/when I decide to make the "Quick Chicken Enchiladas" again.
Due to back, knee and other problems, I won't be doing the strength training exercises shown in the book. But, I have and will be doing other strength training exercises and will continue to try and get the suggested amount of cardio in each day as well. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
At this point, being able to do ANYTHING is wonderful. 18 months ago I wasn't able to walk for even one (1) minute without wheezing. I was put on 24 hour oxygen. I couldn't stand at the stove to cook/clean. I had to have a chair to load/unload the dishwasher.
So... my motivation is to "live".
Had I not made the changes in my life that I have... well... emoticon
I'm very grateful for the changes that have come in my life and that I finally made the choice to "LIVE". emoticon
Looking forward to tomorrow's challenges.
Good luck to all.
Spark on! emoticon

Today started great, then tried to derail. Who keeps 2 dozen cookies in their office for two hours? Oh, that was me, lol. I did finally eat one of the cookies, but then I did a big salad for dinner (no kiddo and I way overbought for the first week). While I had a terrible time sleeping last night, I am ready for tomorrow. Onward and upward emoticon

I refuse to get discouraged. Some days are WAY easier than others, that's the way it goes emoticon

Did pretty well today. Loved the oatmeal, the tuna sandwich was good- loved the cranberries in it. Wasn't too impressed with the enchiladas- this is the first thing that I haven't liked too much- it was edible, but don't think I'll make it again. And they said the prep time was 10 minutes but it took me MUCH longer than that. Did the exercises, but some of those strength training exercises were rough!

I just finished one set of 10 reps of the exercise. I really had a hard time just doing the one set. I almost didn't do it but sat down with the book and read the habits of fit people on page 70 and decided to give a go. I also got in 22 minutes of dance. For neat time I went up and down the stairs 10 times and gardened and played with my dog. I fixed all the meals, had a problem opening my pita at lunch I just used it like bread on the side of the salad. I'm pretty wore out today and was glad to have the day off to prep and cook the food. Being a bit lazy and setting my alarm and extra 1/2 early tomorrow giving myself 21/2 hours to get ready for day three.

OK, day 2 did not go as planned. Hubby, who has MS, had a bad fall and hit his head on the kitchen table. A doctor visit and CT scan later shows a concussion but no bleeding! Anyway, had the planned breakfast but lunch and dinner were repeats of yesterday so I didn't get to try the new recipes. I did stick to the plan with the swaps though!! Didn't get the strength training .

Day 2 was ok. Cooking and food prep took a lot longer than I thought it would. But won't have to cook much tomorrow, will just use leftovers probably. I, too, worked outside for about 75 minutes: raking, lifting, clearing instead of doing the exercises. Will try to double up tomorrow. Today was waaayyyy busy.

Day 2--Went great. I loved the tuna salad and I did add the curry powder and I just loved the whole thing. Just finished the strawberry smoothie. That was good but a little sour. Breakfast was great...but I had to substitute for supper meal...but the correct amount of calories. Also did heavy gardening for 1 hr. and 30 min. today for my exercise.

It is amazing, I am not getting hungry between meals. emoticon

Day 2 went well. I cleaned up my basement and hooked up a DVD player. Now I can do my workout videos since I made more space. Feeling really good about that. No more excuses that I don't have the room.

I absolutely love trying new recipes and am excited about these new meals, however, it's kinda stressful for me that my kids will not touch the stuff. Since I have always insisted on having family dinners together, I'm cooking two meals until I find a better solution. I'm ready to do whatever it takes.

Crud, today started out great with my mini frittata breakfast and 45 minutes of Zumba, but then we ran all day, so ended up having a slice of spinach florentine quiche for lunch (which wouldn't have been too bad) but it came with a cup of broccoli cheese soup. I tried to resist it, but failed miserably.

I got back on track for supper with the Trim Taco Salad since it was fast and easy and I was exhausted. Planned to swim for a while today, too, but ended up taking a nap instead. Way over on my fat and protein requirements. Really kind of disappointed in myself today. I'm trying to not do any negative thinking and just make tomorrow a better day, but it is a challenge.

Day 2 saw moderate success. I ate my breakfast, missed my morning snack due to a 2 hour
ambulance run, very short noon hour, then working late, farm chores and gardening. Just had a nice salad for lunch but a better salad with chicken tonight. NEAT went well and cardio was out of the roof. Guess it wasn't so bad after all.

Day 2 - Today was pretty good. The food especially. I loved the oatmeal for breakfast (I didn't have almonds though), I made my own lunch, and made the smoothie and enchiladas for dinner. Those were pretty good, I will be having left overs Thursday (it is just me). I did the workout in the book this morning and when I first saw it thought that it looked too easy, umm.. no, I was sweating and out of breath by the end of the first set, but did the second, it was tough but I felt great that I did it.

Tomorrow we are going out to dinner for my sister's birthday, I hope they let me order just a giant veggie salad with dressing on the side.

Keep up the good work and motivation everyone!!!

-Jen

Day 2 went well, did sub leftovers of Southwestern Chicken for tonight's Enchiladas as I was mowing & planting garden & had no time to cook. Everything else I fixed. Loved the tuna salad although I wasn't brave enough to put the curry in. My real progress is no cravings the past two days. emoticon

Day two went pretty well, breakfast was good and I liked the tuna salad. Dinner didn't go over very well, though. Hubby didn't like it and there was too much onion for me. I'll make a note to halve the recipes so we don't have leftovers no one will eat. But, all in all, things are going pretty well.

Because of my budget I'm using foods I have and day 2 stayed within my range -- and I feel great!! My sister came to dinner and I made her a healthy meal too! emoticon

Good Day 2!

* Tuna salad was a new recipe for me, and I loved it.
* Got in 50 fitness minutes in tae kwon do
* Stopped myself from visiting a co-worker's desk to get a Lindt truffle
* Ignored the dish of dark chocolate kisses on my boss's desk during a meeting

One negative: I wasn't a big fan of the chicken enchiladas. Too spicy for me; also, the corn tortillas I bought were a bit on the thick side.

Good luck on Day 3, everyone!
