Fuzzie - - I like that tip with the banana. I hate the way a banana looks when you've cut it in half and go back to eat the other half later in the day.

Day 3 went very well for me, better organized and enjoyed the meals. The Chicken Caesar Salad and Dressing, excellent! The Tips in the book are very helpful too! So far, I like the varied meals each day and I'm learning how to combine new and different food items.

BRIGHID3: If possible, prepare your meals in advance. If you can, eat your breakfast, lunch, and a snack before you leave for your evening outing. Then when you return have a light meal and or a snack. If you eat out, make wise choices! Hope this helps! Good Luck! emoticon emoticon

Stayed on track. The only thing I didn't like was, I think, rosemary in the burger. I felt like I was eating perfume, first time having it. Great idea to stuff it like that!

Way to go Jen!

I took my other half of the banana and peeled and sliced it and put it in the freezer, for the next smoothie. I saw that somewhere in one of the tips.

Day 3 was another good one. I was a little worried because I was going out to dinner, but most restaurants have lower calorie options so I chose one where I would have some leeway so I could have a few bites of the appetizer. I had the Spinach feta wrap for breakfast, it was so good, that will be on normal rotation. The curried tuna salad was lunch (I was a day off on some things, but it sounded so good I could pass it up, and it was), smoothie for snack (second day in a row because the other half of banana was going to go bad), then out to eat for dinner. Plus my 30 minutes in the morning.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Keep up the good work!

-Jen

Day 3 went well. I'm not using the suggested recipes, but instead making my own swaps to meet the recommended calories/meal or snack. So far exercise is going well--I am a little sore as expected. Looking forward to what today holds!

How do you put the recipes in your food log? That would be helpful for the times you repeat a menu.

One thing at a time for me. I am concentrating on the eating part of the Spark Solution and intend to follow the fitness side once I get this under my belt. I find the recipes are good - and they are filling. And - I have been SO bored in the kitchen until now. Having someone else plan my meals and then trying to get in all ingredients for each meal has broken that slump. AND - I couldn't stand it: I felt better and could not resist the scale. Guess what? I broke that month long plateau, and it has only been 3 full days.

I AM getting in fitness minutes, and am more aware of the NEAT minutes, so I am sure that helps as well. Currently undergoing Physical Therapy for hip/back issues, so I am saving more strenuous exercise (other than walking and treadmill) until I get the go-ahead.

Bottom line: this is taking longer to plan, shop and cook than I am used to, but I am having a lovely time with it. And I have the full support of DH who so far has enjoyed the meals. I trade them out for convenience when I need to, but I am enjoying the process.

Vigilantone, you can do it however you like.

What I did, was just do 'enter your own exercise', put in the minutes, the calories indicated in the book, and select 'strength' from the dropdown. You don't have to track each exercise separately if you don't want to, but you can if you want.

Struggling a bit with trying to swap out items to reach the same calorie/fat/carb/protein as the menu. Still need an answer regarding how to track the strength training into my tracker.

I was sidelined by a manic episode migraine drug interaction nightmare. the good thing about this two week period is that there are no binge foods in the house, I ate within my limits, and slept it off. Today will be a much better day.

Walk/jog for cardio. I changed it up by running a full lap then speed walking a lap. This is the 1st time I made it the full lap. I was breathing hard but did it 3 times plus 10 flights of stairs! All together I got in 27400 steps.

My husband brought home my favorite cookies & I chose to not eat them.

I broke through my plateau which was going up & down for a month!

Feeling strong!

Live each moment to its fullest!

Good Day 4 morning team I missed popping in here yesterday had some things I needed to take care of and didn't have the time. But those things did not deter me from staying on track !!!! Getting a good start to Day 4 and I'm very proud of myself and looking forward to my Sunday weigh in.

Have a great Thursday and where is the coach's Day 4 post ???

Day 3 - kept within lower end of calories (suggestion that older people stay lower in the book) - having trouble sticking to the menus - I've mixed them all up. But, enjoying the variety.

Did 35 minutes of Senior Stretch exercise and went and checked out a new Gym for possible workouts. Stepping out of my comfort zone here!

Day 3
On track, sort of. I had a migraine and it always throws things off. I was making a dinner for a friend who had a knee replacement. Was not able to make the menu for this day but ate some of the SW chicken and rice (left overs since I am the only one eating it). I did catch up though as I made the breakfast cookie tonight. Bible study early so that will come in handy.

It is so good having a plan in mind as I had a luncheon with my circle where I live and had a half turkey sand with salad (vinegar & oil dressing).

My exercise went by the wayside...as I spent some time in a dark room trying to get over the headache. emoticon

ONward!!! To Goal.

Finally got to go sopping today! Even though I didn't have all that was on the menu, I have been trying to keep it similar. Yesterday was a bust. Started new again today. So, tomorrow I will start with the meal plans as much as possible. Meal are almost always at the table.
Anxious to try these new recipes.
I do strength and cardio on Mon, Wed, Fri at the gym. Today was a boot camp 45 min. I know I will feel in in the morning, even though I stretched real well. I really enjoyed the class, love the challenge. I could not keep up too well or do as many reps, but I will get there. Cardio at home tomorrow. Maybe fast walking or start C25k.
NEAT- walking for shopping, while son played at park and visit to the Aquarium. Sit down time is driving time and meal time.

Color it up!

Day 3... This was the hardest so far. An unusual da at work and evening commitments made it impossible to do a workout. All 3 meals were substitutes- hopefully they worked! I still haven't figured out hoe to track right from the book ( have it on I books) must admit I am finding the tracking a little frustrating! Oh well the good news is I chose watermelon instead of popcorn and a soda at a movie theatre today. Yay me!
Tomorrow is Day 4 - I have a feeling it will be a very good day. Keep with this, my friends...together we can achieve our goals!

Day 3 was really my Day 1, I wasn't able to start on Monday.

I had my oatmeal while I was chekcing in,s o i missed the no TV/computer right off the bat. I did eat at my desk, but I took thev time to serve it up on a nice plate I keep in my drawer and did not do computer work while I ate. I really tasted and enjoyed every bite.
Southwest chicken recipe made a huge amount of food. I could hardly finish mine, and my husband and 23 y/o son barely made a dent in the rest.
Now that I know how to put the recipes into my food log it iwll be much eassier. Trying the curried tuna sandwich tomorrow.

I ate according to the day's diet, though I skipped a few things like my yogurt at lunch, milk at dinner and 2nd snack, though I'm thinking about it. I got all my Neat time in but only did 10 minutes of Cardio, and I just did that after reading what everyone else did today. I hoped to reach 20 but I'm exhausted and felt like I would maybe hurt myself accidentally. I'll just catch up tomorrow.

Nutrition was slightly better but cardio and NEAT rocked. Over 6.5 miles of walking, 30 minutes of farm chores and 1 1/2 hours spent working in the garden. Maybe tomorrow will be the day all the meals and snacks fall into place.

On track Day 3.

I did not change the "where I eat" suggestion because I am one of those mean mom's that always make my family eat at the table without tv or cell phones. Nothing to change there.

The meals today were fantastic! I was full after the spinach breakfast wrap and never thought about a snack before lunch.

Dinner was better tonight since everyone in my family likes burger's and fries. Something new for us was the 100 calorie flat wrap buns (could not find sandwich thins but I'm sure they are the same thing). I did not know they even made these. I actually like them better and no complaints from the kiddos. BONUS!

After church, my family wanted ice cream. I sucessfully said no and made the berry cobbler cup instead. Fun, quick and delicious!

EDIT: Cardio was 30 minutes on the treadmill. Ran my fastest mile so far!

Great day!

Day 3 for me was not as good as it could have been, but could have been worse. I did 20 minutes cardio, and I really *wanted* to do it! Then I ran out the door to work, totally unprepared, and ended up going over my calorie budget. But I logged everything anyway.

To me, that's progress! Being honest, even on the not so good days. This is a life, not a diet!

Brig -- does where you are going to be include your food, or just busy? Maybe you can take something with you -- like one of the lunch choices, or eat before you go?

If it is a food event (yep, they happen all the time) just try to make the best choices you can. If it is a restaurant, see if the menu is available online and pick out your meal ahead of time, using the calorie tracker to help your picks. In general, stick with leaner proteins, simple preparations (choose grilled, not fried), and as many veggie choices as you can.

Any suggestions on how to modify things for evenings out? Starting tomorrow, I'm going to be gone from 5pm to 8:30pm three times a week. I know it's crazy and it'll lead to the potential for bad eating.

Any thoughts?

Day 3: I got a good feel of how to prepare the 3 meals for the day. Preparation and staying organized helps. I don't know how my Mom kept up with all the cooking for the family for so many years! (WOW). I stayed within caloric range, but only had one snack for the day. I stay so full with just eating breakfast. Loved the chicken salad and dressing. Prefer Day 1 breakfast. I feel full without any food cravings during the day and I'm sleeping better throughout the night.

Tracked exercises: ( I do as much as I can for 1 minute each) 1 Plank, 1 Side Plank,
10 Pushups, 60 Bridges, 60 Reverse Crunches, 60 Toe Touches, 60 Squats w/dumbbells.
60 mins: Curves Circuit Training, 30 mins: Walk/Run, 28 mins: Barre Body Blast, TBS, DVD

My start weigh-in on Monday (5/13) was 213.6. My weigh-in this morning (5/15) was 208.8
I just hope this isn't a fluke reading. 208.8 is a new low ! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Day 3 went well. I have three little children, so meals at the table are always a must. Did my 30 minutes in intervals. Grateful that my sugar withdrawal headache has finally gone away. The kids did not care for the inside out burgers, but I liked them. We did substitute ground turkey for the lean beef (we're not really big on red meat). The biggest hit today was the Berry Cobbler Cup. My six year old said it tasted like blueberry pancakes in a cup.

I only had 15 min for lunch today so I went outside and sat by my vehicle and enjoyed my lunch and the beautiful day! Did 30 min of walking this morning. Did pretty good with my eating and still staying within my calories.

Being consistant will get it done!

My day 3 was way under my calorie range as I have no appetite due to a cold. The obstacles of a trip coming up and being sick are trying to gang up on me, but I'm not having it! This morning I went shopping for a few new things and I actually had fun trying on clothing. Funny story, I was able to buy a bra off the clearance rack!!! 60% off!!! Guess you can tell where I've lost some of my weight, LOL! Seriously, it's the NSV that help me on days like today when I don't feel at the top of my game. Here's to a good night's rest and a better day 4 for me.

Congratulations to those of you progressing along! It is so inspiring to read through these threads as you share your thoughts and experiences!

i did pretty well today. instead of skipping lunch (since i was working at my son's prek) like i usually would have, i took a smoothie with me. it took me about an hr to finish it but it was so nice. as much as i didn't want to workout by the end of the day, i did a quick 30 minute workout and feel so much better from it. :) ready for tomorrow!

SAWYERSMOMMY - Well done on your weight-loss! Enjoy your well deserved reward.

The caesar salad was... good. I made some modifications to the dressing. I didn't have lemon juice, so I used apple cider vinegar, and the dressing was a little too vinegary. My toast croutons weren't crispy by the time lunch came. Still, I was hungry, so I enjoyed my meal.

Dinner was yummy. Loved the burger and fries. The berry cobbler cup was surprisingly good. I have never "baked" in the microwave before. I don't usually have dessert after dinner, but I have enjoyed that the meal plan has included an evening treat. I'm certainly not feeling deprived.

Ate dinner at the dinner table. We do this about fifty percent of the time. We should do it more. I was certainly paying more attention to my food. That, combined with feeling hungry, made the meal even more delicious.

A good day! We ALWAYS eat at the table so that was a given. I like cardio the best. Food has been really good. Miso paste was the only thing new to me.

NUTRITION:
Mmmmm good food today. Ceasar salad and inside-out burger, YUMMY!

FITNESS:
I tread (treaded?) water for 30 minutes today and then chased my 5 year old around in the pool playing zombies for another half hour, so should have burned some calories!!

MOTIVATION:
I was gifted a massage and facial this afternoon as my reward for 60 pounds lost (thank you honey emoticon emoticon ). It was fantastic! I'm so relaxed and hoping this will keep me going. After a rough Tuesday, it was a good Wednesday.

So, we always eat dinner at the dinner table together, so that isn't a change. I am a teacher, so we use the computers to teach, so that was a bit out of the question. I did the cardio routine, stretching and a good 10,000-20,000 steps. I am finding that the recipes are easy, and I just tweak them with different veggies or fruits to work wthin my zone. I give my family the choice of recipe for dinner, so we are not following the planby day exactly. It is fun to see them trying new things as well I asked them to give me two weeks with new recipes. So far, so good! The cobbler was so yummy!

I'm really enjoying the food! I've been eating at the table today, and taking the time to really taste my food. I had gotten into the habit since living alone of eating with a book in hand or at the computer. More challenging is the exercise, since I have osteoarthritic changes in my knees and often have trouble with normal walking, but I am modifying like crazy. This challenge was an awesome idea!

Reading the posts, I realize that I am not on track with the recipes. Today I had the oatmeal and blueberry breakfast, leftover Southwest Chicken for lunch with an apple, and orange for morning snack, carrots in the afternoon, and the curried tuna salad with lots of salad greens and strawberries for dinner, with some whole grain water crackers.
I'll have leftover curried tuna salad for lunch tomorrow. We are going out to dinner before the theater tomorrow night, but I plan to make healthy choices.

I have been staying within my calorie range and seem to be getting all the proper nutrients, even though I am not following the plan exactly.

I was so tired on the way home from work that I did consider stopping to pick up something to eat. BUT I DIDN'T DO IT! I came home & after a while, cooked dinner. It's ready, but I think I'm going to take a shower first, then eat.

Usually if I have mail at work, I drop it off at the mailbox on my way home. Today I walked it to the mailbox & then of course I had to walk back (uphill coming back). I probably should have taken my asthma inhaler with me, but I survived quite well.

Did the easy walking workout on the one of the DVDs today. I.am.so.out.of.shape! Oh my word!

We had the enchiladas today, heavily modified also. I made a chicken, steamed spinach, tomatoes/peppers/beans/spices sauce topped with cheese casserole. I served it with broken taco shells (what was on hand). Three out of four family members were OK with it, though one of those picked the spinach out. Blending in the beans was key so that no one knew they were there. :)

And Angelzwingz4 - way to go! That weight loss is awesome! I'm happy I lost some. :)

Wednesday is a special night out with my hubby, and I didn't want to take that away from him. Yes, that means I ate that SAD food instead. And I'm kinda missing that berry cobbler, because it sounded good.

Doing good. I didn't have the hamburger tonight because I'm not a lover of beef so, I reheated the southwest chicken and rice dish from day 1.
I've noticed I'm a little more hungry at night but I think it's really I'm bored. I had a fruit and got busy and I was fine. I've also been drinking flavored water when I feel like a sweet snack.
I've been losing .2 pounds a day. I'm excited to see what I will lose after the 2 weeks are up. Good Luck everyone!!! emoticon

Walked 3 miles and with the intervals I lowered my time.

Meals were good except we couldn't eat the first snack after the breakfast and lunch. The Caesar salad was really good and we enjoyed the hamburgers and especially the fingerling potatoes. We're looking forward to the Berry Cobbler Cup. YUM!

Everybody work hard tomorrow! emoticon

Doing pretty well today. I don't think I'll be able to get the cardio intervals in, but my husband and I are going to take the dog for a looooong walk, so I'm counting that instead. I haven't been following the meal plan, but in flipping through the recipe section I'm definitely going to be trying some of them out; they look so good! Especially the burgers stuffed with a slice of onion- YUM!

Stay positive.

I did manage to have one meal today (dinner) while sitting down at the table and it seemed strange. I felt like I needed to be doing something more than just enjoying my meal.

I decided to really concentrate on what I was eating, savoring the smell and the taste. I realized how many times I'm eating at my computer and the food is gone and I don't even really remember eating it.

I can't guarantee that i'll never eat at my computer again, but I'm going to try and I'm hoping to get my husband to join me once in a while.

I'm feeling some of the lunges, curtseys and the lunge rotations in my upper thighs today. Not real bad, but I definitely know I've done some. I've been able to stay within my calorie range again so far today while substituting food for most of your recipies (hubby just will not eat most of that stuff so far - - he's a meat and potato man only). I had a hard boiled egg for my snack to make up for my protein from breakfast (oatmeal) and a fruit for my afternoon snack. By doing that I haven't had any BS crashes so far. I moved my nutritional schedule from the diabetic diet to the normal diet so as to follow the protein/fat/carb level used in The Spark Solution. I just had to do some juggling to be sure to have something for the morning snack. My FBS have remained good. Today I have not crashed at all. Days 1 & 2 I crashed once each day.

Today was a bad day. Burger and fries tonight, which sounds awesome, right? But I guess when you know how good the food you're cooking can be, they healthy stand in sucks.

We're having the enchiladas today...except, they weren't even warm after fifteen minutes in the oven. Also, I didn't feel like dirtying my blender so I just diced the onion, pepper and garlic very fine and mixed it into the salsa. Hope it's good - it's still in the oven.
I love that we can add Spark Solutions recipes to our nutrition tracker - it's making life a lot easier.

I went to the grocery store today for the first time. I've been able to make most recipes with healthy exchanges. I just shopped for 2 days because Friday is my shopping day. I have lost 4 pounds in 2 days. I know most of it is water but it feels good. I love veggies so it's been easy to get in my amount of water. I've been a member for 5 years and this is the first time I've a actually started losing. My problem is exercise. I avoid it like the plague. I'm still not doing what the plan calls for, but it's a lot more than I'm used to. Woo hoo!

Yesterday I was tired, but today I feel great! I can't believe that I can cook without adding salt...who know.
I have a new goal: To make everything in the Spark Solution Recipe section. I've already had leftovers for a few days, so it will take me much more than 2 weeks to finish. But I can & I will; then I'll tackle the recipes in the Spark Cookbook.
No TV while eating today wasn't too bad, but the house was very quiet.

At work, I sit at my desk to eat, but now that I started this challenge I move down to the empty table next to me so I'm away from the computer. That way I am not distracted and can really enjoy my food and take my time. At home I sit at the table at meal time. I am by nature a slow eater. I am struggling just a bit to get all of my fitness time done, but pushing to improve a little each day.

Day 3! So far so good! I'm still loving the food. For just this 2 weeks I'm trying to follow it and not change it up. The only exception is fish. I've never acquired a taste for it.

I did my cardio with intervals. I did the elliptical. I admit I was really worried about it last night (I lost sleep over it) I didn't think I could do it. But I did . I was around 4 for my "6" and 6 - 7 for my "9" I managed to do it for 30 min with 5 min warm up and a 5 min cool down. I feel SO good now! I think mentally more than physically!

Great idea to swap in another dried (I almost typed FRIED, lol!) fruit for the cranberries. Glad to hear the food is to your liking!
