Just finished de-cluttering the master bedroom....I threw out one bag of garbage and donated three bags of clothing. Oh how wonderful it feels to de-clutter and organize.

TOMORROW I will wallpaper an accent wall in the master bedroom. I am very excited. After this is done I am going to make a closet--found the idea on you tube. I just need to buy a drill. emoticon nothing like living in an organized home!! Being a FLYBaby is emoticon Doing the FLYBaby routine makes me feel emoticon

Monday and TUesday-
I got rid of Cd's I had for work but had not used in years!, AND, some tapes too!!! Can you believe it? I tossed around 20 tapes!

Craft supplies- I only have the bare minimum, so no need to declutter there.

Tomorrow I'll post what I got rid of last week with the mini-missions, but, here's the mini-missions for this week:

Monday – Declutter of CDs or DVDs.

Tuesday – Declutter some craft supplies.

Wednesday – Declutter some items of jewellery you don’t like so much.

Thursday – Declutter some clutter in your home that once was someone else’s clutter.

Friday – Declutter some wall art or empty picture frames you have never used.

Saturday – Declutter something you have been unsuccessfully trying to sell.

Sunday – Sunday is reserved for contemplating one particular item, of your choice that is proving difficult for you to declutter. Whether that be for sentimental reasons, practical reasons, because the task is laborious or simply unpleasant, or because the items removal requires the cooperation of another person. That last category may mean that the item belongs to someone else who has to give their approval, it could also mean there is a joint decision to be made or it could mean that the task of removing it requires assistance from someone else. There is no need to act on this contemplation immediately, it is more about formulating a plan to act upon or simply making a decision one way or another.

I'm so glad it's working for you two! My house doesn't look so different, but I feel so much lighter!!!

THis is the mission for Sunday. You'll see that we don't really need to DO something, but rather to THINK about something. I believe it's because we get so used to things being one way that we end up not seeing it any longer. So the idea of taking Sundays to CONTEMPLATE a special area of clutter is so we become aware of those spots again. If we want to act upon them right away, we can. But if we don't, at least we start thinking about what to do about it. Does it make sense?

Mini- Mission Sunday –

Sunday is reserved for contemplating one particular item, of your choice that is proving difficult for you to declutter.

I gained a LED TV and I don't need it, but need the money. I have been procrastinating about selling it. So, as for today's mission, I decided where and when to post the ad. First step is to take photos and my camera had run out of batteries: I have them charging now, and tomorrow, with good lightning (it's night already here) I'll take them and post the ad.

Friday Mini-mission –

Declutter some paper reading matter such as books, magazines, comics…

This one is easy: I am teacher and have lots of material I rarely use any more- magazines, photocopies, books. I put everything I found I have not used in over a year, and filled 2 big bags. I'm going to donate those to the local School for Teachers.

Hi Joyce!

Good to see you! Please don't think you're behind or that you have an obligation to do this. The whole idea is for it to be helpful, not to drag us down.

You do the mini-mission when you can or when it fits you. No strings attached!

Hi Katarine!

I do not do all the stuff just as it is. In fact, I picked the key ideas behind the method and use them all the time.
For example:

Only touch things once-
If the washed clothes are dry, I pick them, fold them and put them in their places, all in one go.
Or, if I pick the broom, I sweep the whole house (mine is small, mind you).

It doesn't have to be perfect-
When I finish cooking I wipe the counter and the stove with a wet rag. It leaves streaks, but it's clean on a daily basis.
Or, I pick my pug's toys and dump them all in a big pile in the kitchen. Not pretty, but out of the way.

Multi-task-
While I shower, I wipe the surfaces with a soapy rag, then rinse. Before I leave the bathroom, I use a dry rag on the shower walls and all other surfaces.
While I'm waiting for the tea to heat in the microwave, I toss old food from the fridge or wipe it inside or out.

The problem with those of us who are not clean-and-neat smart is that we are all over the place, our stuff is all over the place and our minds are all over the place too. Too confusing! and we freeze and end up not doing much.

I remember I read somewhere on Flylady that we are transition-challenged: That was a life changer! I realised that it was true for me: I have a problem with starting something new or leaving what I am doing. But once I change activities, I keep moving without effort.

So, the problem is with picking the broom, but when I start sweeping, I do all the house. I don't sweep the bedroom and then make the bed, for example, because those are two different activities, which means there is a transition there and I may easily lose track!

Right now I am focusing on having less of everything. I am working on quieting my mind (fewer emails, fewer sites, less time on the computer) and putting my stuff away all the time, and I am decluttering= fewer things mean less to clean and more space to store!

THis mini-mission is a great help because it is not overwhelming: I just focus on one little thing each day and that's it. And I'm accomplishing much by the end of the week!

Thanks for this, the idea of making one think every day is a good one !
I am about to look the website.

However, with all that we have to do in the Flylady planning, I fear I get overwhelmed ! (sorry for the orthograph of this word !).
How do you manage all ? As far as I am concerned, for instance on Mondays, I make a 15 minutes of my Weekly Home Blessing (a little every day), the Morning and Evening Routines (in particular, making the dinner which is the more lasting one), and when I have the time (not every day !), I make the 15 minutes mission in the Week Zone.

I would be curious to know how you manage all of this yourself !

I went directly to my Contracts and Warranties folder and tossed 800 grams (1.8 pounds) emoticon of manuals and expired warranty papers- they were too many to count so I weighed them instead.

Yesterday we had no electricity from 2 am to 10 pm- and it's the middle of the summer! It was a nightmare! Anyway,

I'm posting Monday's and Tuesday's mini- missions today. This week is all about PAPER CLUTTER.

Monday – Declutter old receipts that are no longer needed for proof of purchase for the sake of returning items.

Tuesday – Declutter expired warranty papers and manuals for items you no longer own or that you can access online.

In case you want to follow the blog yourself, here's the link:

I got rid of two microwave containers and their lids I've had for 19 or 20 years ( I bought them before my daughter was born and she's 18 now!). I have not used them in probably two years, maybe more, but since they were still good, I was keeping them. Not any more!

Today’s Mini Mission

Declutter some old plastic containers you kept aside for storage but find they are building up over time and you now have too many.

Hi!
I have been following a blog called "365 less things" and they post a daily mini- mission for decluttering. Hence, 365 fewer things you'll have by the end of the year!

So, I thought I could post the daily mission in case any of you were interested. I thought it was better in this forum rather than at challenges because that forum seems to be organized for something different.I hope I chose correctly.

MINI- MISSION:
Declutter a kitchen utensil or two.

I decluttered a gnocchi ridge. I've been buying gnocchi for several years already, and if I ever want to make them myself, I can always use a fork. I also got rid of an ice cream scoop. I have two, and I always use the bigger one as it much more functional.
