DAY 9 - THE 2-MINUTE RULE

CHANGE PRIORITIES - instead of working from the most urgent task at the top of your to-do list, all the time, take a quick jump down the list.
If there's a task that will take only a few minutes - do it now. It'll be done. An item off the list. No need to come back to it.

I did that a wee while ago.#I was going to leave something till tomorrow, when I might feel fresher. But then I just did it.
Makes me feel so uch better about tomorrow's to-do's !!!!

Day 8

EYE LOVE

You know about this one already - you need to rest your eyes from that whole-of-the-working-day screen.
Move your screen back so it's at least 24 inches from your eyes - for example.

My older son, whose degree is in Computer Science, used to set the alarm on his phone. Every time it went off, he would stop the screen work and look around the room, focussing his eyes on various things on the walls and at different distances.

I do that some of the time, I move the screen back sometimes, and I switch all screens off in the evening at least an hour before I go to bed.

Day 7

A CLEAN WORK SPACE

A clean and clear work space allows for a clean and clear work mind, so take 15 minutes toady to clean up, and then do a wee clear and clean regularly.

I'm coming back to this one - away at a family funeral.

Day 6

WATER

Stay hydrated. Everyone seems to have a water bottle beside them.
If you can't do that, schedule yourself some water breaks - eg on the hour every hour.

Today, I drank my water and my plain green tea as usual, but kept a more particular count!

Day 5

Walk & Talk
Instead of having a sit down meeting with 1 or 2 colleagues - if no papers, files, etc are needed - take a walk together. Round the building (inside or out), through the next door park.

I did a "walk & talk" with hubby while we did some grocery shopping!

Day 4

Lunch Time

Don't spend your lunch break at your work station, working and eating.
The bosses take a break - and it's often much more than the 20 or 30 minutes you get.

SP suggests getting together with some (like-minded) colleagues for a lunch club. Take it in turns to provide lunch for the group.

I thought about this one, today, not being out at work any more . . .
I try not to have the same thing for lunch every day - I'm one of those folk who do not cope with same-thing-for-more-than-2-days-in-a-row! Not even my default setting cheese sandwich !!!

I quite fancy the sound of some of these, though I haven't checked any of the actual recipes yet.
Or, does anyone fancy swapping some ideas?

Day 3

Sorry - I'm a day late.
Yesterday, my increased fibre intake well and truly caught up with me :(
And, adding insult to injury - I haven't lost a single pound :( :(

Anyway, Day 3 was to NOT spend too much time sitting with your emails. The suggestion given was to allocate specific times of the day for this task/pleasure, and stick to those times every day.

This is possibly one of the easier asks for me, as I tend to check my emails at set points - and that's probably because I'm only on-line a couple of times in the day.
That is certainly increasing as time goes on - used to be evenings only, now one time is between getting up and having breakfast (Bible reading while I wait for my first med to have its time before I can have breakfast), then again in the evening. But now, occasionally also in the afternoon.

But I'm not going to worry about on-line time - my concentration time is more limited, so I'm probably not on-line for much more time in total, per day LOL !!!

Day 2

Make an effort to be more active - so I did!

I stood for part of the time chatting on the phone with older son. (When I was working, I kept the phone on top of a filing cabinet, so I had to stand up to answer it, and styed standing for as long as possible).
I got up out my chair more often to fetch and carry, rather than leaving everything to 1 carry-time!
Used the stairs, though not at the top of every hour.
Did some decluttering, so to and fro between sitting room, dining room and hall.

Day 1

Be more active - take the stairs instead of the elevator.

I joined the challenge too late today to do anything about this for today.
I have decided that tomorrow I will try to do a Top-of-the Hour on this - I'll go up the stairs and back down. After all, I *am* getting over that flu or whatever, so I reckon I should now be ready to add in some more activity :)
