I do hope I am posting this in the right place....but here goes. I posted this in my blog today but wanted everyone that WANTED access to it to see it too.

Beck Blue Reboot!!!!

this blog is actually all about is the upcoming Beck Blue Reboot. As we all know Marsha, SLENDERELLA61 ended up basically doing the Beck Pink Reboot because John decided that we were going on a vacation! It was our first in 20 years which was because of three ailing parents that needed MUCH care before they left us on this planet. It WAS time but I was not much help for her on the Pink Beck Reboot!

Now, I understand that this reboot will begin in January. And I had to tell Marsha that John really doesn't want me to participate...at least NOT to the extent that poor Marsha did. She was EXCELLENT at it, probably better than ANYONE else could be and we all THANK her again. However, I know she can't do all that this time as much, she is back watching her granddaughters and she's RUNNING again....YAY! But we talked and she really can't devote as much time as she did to Beck Pink.

I told her I was going to throw out the questions to those that WANT to do a Beck Blue Reboot. Actually, before you decide, I want to bring to your attention that Barb, ONEKIDSMOM, has been doing Beck Blue blogs right now. I'm going to refer to her blogs on it to let you see some of her blogs right now. They are excellent indeed.

Here it is:

www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_jo
ur
nal_summary.asp?id=ONEKIDSMOM

She writes awesome blogs so you may just want to even subscribe to ALL her blogs. She teaches a LOT of good things!

Browse them. They are WORTH it.

But back to the upcoming Reboot. I was not sure we even needed a "Moderator/Leader/etc."

The first time I did Pink Beck we just simply all did each day and each blogged them and everyone read everyone else's blogs and we commented on them. And, of course, I was HOOKED.

But, I told her that I would throw it out there to see if that was perhaps the way this one should be so no one else had to work quite so hard on something that should and and can be FUN and INFORMATIVE in itself. Marsha also suggested that she might do one day and several do one day and so on and so on as the commercial goes.

The Beck thread can be just UPDATED as it was this last time but no one have to worry about making sure ALL the participants are continually updated on the daily email that she was doing. A lot of work I know you will agree.

This is being thrown out there for YOUR thoughts and suggestions as to what helps us best. My vote goes for JUST plain WORKING BECK and reading the blogs that go along from various people.

I am also going to post this in the Beck thread on the Beck team for those that don't read my blogs. So you will see this part of it there if you would like to comment there.

I know she will be commenting on the Beck thread so as I said, feel free to add your opinions, comments and thoughts any of the places I have mentioned!

So there you all have it....just looking for comments and thoughts on the issue so I thank you!

Hi all! I'm Terri and so glad to be part of the BDS Group. Although I read the BDS book often, I have had quite a huge falling off the wagon. I desperately need to change that.

Let me give you a quick rundown of my weight loss. My heaviest was 248. At 237 I started working out and eating right on target. I dropped down to 173 and lost a lot of inches (since I'm only 5'5"). However, with a lot of stress this past spring & summer I gained a lot of weight back. This morning I weighed 196.

Ashamed and very down on myself, I want to get back to the wieght I was and keep losing after that. My goal weight is 145. But I also want the healthy lifestyle I was living. I was happy, felt good, and was in control of myself.

A Reboot is what I definitely need!

Hello!

My Name is Cidney, and I live in Tacoma, WA.

3 years ago I developed Idiopathic Chronic Uticaria (hives and they don't know what causes them). I was on 40 mg of Prednisone a day for about 6 months. Between the Prednisone and the effect it had on my existing anxiety and depression issues, I gained about 65lbs.

I read the Beck Solution a couple of years ago. It was interesting and helpful, however I didn't stick with it. Joining a group like this give me a little bit of accountability.

A belated start to the Reboot here...

Name: Angie
Location: northern California

Brief weight history: My weight has slowly crept up over the years, logging in an additional 10 pounds with each major change in my life (marriage, graduate school, three jobs). And then I added an additional 20-25 pounds with my diagnosis, treatment and recovery from breast cancer. That's 70 pounds of extra weight! While I do not expect to get back to my rail-thin-college-aged self of (cough) 30+ years ago, I do want to return to a more reasonable weight of 150-160 pounds. So far I've pulled off the first 32 pounds, but these last several months I have plateaued.

What you hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution: I'd like to get back on track with my weight loss plans and reach my interim goal weight of 175 pounds by the end of October. The Beck Diet Reboot sounds perfect! Too bad I didn't join the team a couple of weeks earlier, but no matter. I'm not a newbie to the principles, so my plan is to whip the book out and get reading! Pretty soon I hope to have caught up with the reboot group.

Hi everyone, my name is Nancy. I am from Central Minnesota.

Brief weight history: I never had a weight issue until I turned 30 (I am now 57). I think my metabolism slowed down because I could not easily lose the pounds I gained like I had when I was younger. It is with my eating that I have a problem. At my heaviest, I was 40 pounds over weight. I remember when I decided enough was enough and was going to track my food so I could see what my eating habits were like. I started out logging decent foods, but when it came time to log in the 6 full-size Snicker bars, I couldn't seem to do it. But then and there I knew what my problem was (is). I eat way too much junk.!

I took a culinary course at a vo-technical school in 20007 and watched my classmates and myself put on pounds. For some, it was way more than the freshmen 15. That scared me a bit and I started going to the gym after class and I stopped eating the foods we prepared. Too much fat and artificial ingredients. I started to eat only from the salad bar and started to lose weight.

But I still had a problem with junk food. While I ate well for lunch, I would stop at the store on the way home and buy a large bag of chocolate peanuts with caramel. The bag would be empty by the time I arrived home. That was my supper.

I plateaued for the rest of my time at school and when I returned home, I started to run (or attempt to run.) I took a bootcamp challenge by Jonny Bowden ~ paleo style and it was animal product every time I ate something. No grains, no beans, no bread. I lost a lot of weight on that program, my lowest I remember, lower than my high school days. Poor hubby, lost a lot of weight also. but developed kidney stone after kidney stone. As a matter of fact, I missed the birth of my first grandson because I was with hubby while he was delivering a kidney stone. To commemorate the two events, I call my grandson "Stoney". He is 6 years old now and I still call him Stoney.

But something inside my head snapped and demanded carbs, carbs and more carbs. I ate the wrong carbs and gained back 20 pounds, I am currently enjoying the loss of 10 of those regained. But I am stalled and am still struggling with getting my brain retrained. When I was doing the paleo style, I also started Beck Solution at that time. I remember having those reason as to why I wanted to get a handle on my eating on my computer monitor, so I'd see them every time I sat down. Even in my recent struggle, my mind keeps reminding me of some of these techniques.

What I am hoping to get out of this Beck Diet Solution Reboot is to strengthen my resistence muscles and put a muzzle on those sabotaging thoughts that consistently pop into my mind. I want to fit into my "skinny jeans" again because I cannot afford to buy new jeans.

Looking forward to getting to know some of you.

Welcome Val. We all have eating issues and struggle on this journey. I hope you will find Beck really useful in recognizing the triggers the lead to your binges. She really has some good ideas.

I am joining this Reboot Group late but here I am!
My name is Val (aka Valerie) and I am 63 years old. I currently live in Arizona, just about an hour south of Tucson.
I have been on SparkPeople for almost 8 years and during that time lost 20 pounds and gained back 30. Which is where I am right now. I could say that the weight gain was due to aging but that wouldn't really be true--or at least not all of it. I eat compulsively when I am stressed or feeling insecure. I did try Overeaters Anonymous but was uncomfortable with the format; I don't overeat "all" of the time and I CAN have candy and things in the house for weeks on end without eating it all. My big binges are fewer than they used to be but I have a difficult time eating in a healthy way. I actually don't really "enjoy" eating and I think that is part of the problem.
Anyway, what I hope to accomplish in the month of September is to continue to exercise at least 30 minutes a day and to keep my calorie consumption to the SparkPeople Plan. To celebrate my accomplishments (yesterday was a Red Letter Day [aka I stayed within the range day]) and minimize my personal defeats.
It's ironic that I had the book for three years and then a few months ago donated it. So am now off to load it onto my iPad.

* I choose to respect myself today by refusing to engage in verbal or emotional self-abuse.
* I have been successful at many things I have set out to do, and I can learn to do better at the things that give me problems.

Hello! I am not new to the team, but I have been gone (from Spark in general) for several months. I am 59 and have struggled with my weight for a long time. I eat healthy foods- but, portions and consistent exercise are big issues. I have taught high school French for 35 years and this time of year I usually do little else besides schoolwork. However, I am determined to balance my life a bit better and workout, read, and post. I look forward to being active with this group!

Hi All,

I am known as Mick or Mar to my friends. I am 51, married, no kids, live in the burbs of Philly, PA. My SP friend, POSITIVEHOPE encouraged me to come and join you all. Since being on SP, I lost 70 lbs, put back on 20 and rebooting as they say. I work out pretty regularly with a trainer, and I also have a coach. As soon as my kindle finishes charging, I will start reading! Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

I saw this and thought, "Crud, was I supposed to post my intro here?" So, recap from my other post - been using Sparkpeople for a year and a half, lost 30, stuck firmly in a rut for the past few months, want to lose another 10ish and finally reach my goal!

For the reboot group, are you all on a certain day at the moment?

Hi! I'm Trina, and I will be 44 on Labor Day. I've struggled forever with weight, and I'm a Type 2 diabetic for 11 years. I live in Wisconsin, but soon will be moving to North Carolina. I just spent the summer getting my mom through her cancer treatments, and we are now cleaning out my grandma's house so we can all move. I homeschool my two children. Cleaning out my grandma's house had been a challenge with my poor health. I am determined to restore my health, and Beck is going to help me do it!

Hello to all of you! I'm Sue and some of you may already know me.

I will turn 64 this November. I live within walking distance of Lake Michigan in the small town of Grand Haven. I am married with 1 DD, 1 SIL, and 2 GKs. I like to keep busy and I am a vey social kind of person.

I have had weight problems all of my life and joined SP in 2009. I have spent the past 2 years dealing with bilateral hip replacements and I am "back on my feet" ! I read Beck last fall and due to a 10# gain over the winter I am in need of a re-boot!

So happy to join all of you for this journey emoticon

Joy! Good to see another triathlete Beck-ing. A lot of the CBT philosophy can be applied to training, not just to dieting and weight loss / maintenance! In fact, "oh, well!" applies really nicely to jumping in a chilly lake! emoticon

emoticon Y'all! My name is Joy, and I have not yet read the book. Mine is coming too, Patricia. In the meantime I am getting started by using ONEKIDSMOM's blogs as a guide. She reviewed the book quite thoroughly starting 11/25/14 and is also participating in this group if you want to check it out.
I live in VT and am quite active ( another sprint tri coming up 9/12/15- hope it doesn't get too chilly before then as I do not have a wetsuit). I have thought I was fat since a teen, but now realize only truly over weight since babies...and that was a long time ago so I am not blaming them!
I read this on SP this morning and the philosophy is in line with Beck's

I think I originally posted this in the wrong part of this board, but here goes again:

Hello all -

I'm 41 and doing my prerequisites for nursing school. If all goes well, I will be getting ready for clinicals about a year from now and am hoping to be much thinner so I can keep up with the physical demands.

I am currently at my highest weight EVER! Years ago, I lost 72 pounds on Weight Watchers, then gained it all back and considerably more. I wasn't using the Beck books back then, though, so when my willpower was weak, I had no strategies to fall back on.

I have a really bad habit of night eating. I literally can't remember the last time I didn't snack A LOT (sometimes bordering on a binge) at night before going to sleep. I really, really, need help with that and I'm hoping Beck will be instrumental in helping me kick this habit. I've even canceled blood tests and rescheduled surgery because I couldn't go 12 hours without eating the night before!

I also had a huge, scary wakeup call when I landed in the ER with a hypertensive crisis - blood pressure of 190/110 and I had to stay there to be monitored in case I had a stroke. I'm too young to be dealing with this and I need to do something about it!

Patricia from Costa Rica - and anyone else who doesn't have the book yet - I'm sure any of us would be happy to help as we can. This is my first time reading and doing the Beck pink book but I'm also happy to share information, support and help. We can do this and it's better together! emoticon emoticon Karen

Hello teammates,

My name is Patricia. I am from and live in Costa Rica.

I've heard so many good positive things about Dr. Beck that I want to learn it first hand and with you all. The only problem I have is that the book comes via Amazon but to my country so it will probably be here in a week if lucky. Anyhow, I'll try to keep up by reading your blogs. I also had free access as a bonus to Beck's workbook's first chapters? (I don't know if they are excerpts or full length) I'm reading them.

I hope we all have quite a learning experience! Nice to meet you all.

Hi, Boot Buddies! I'm Jess from Seattle WA.

Like most of all y'all, I struggled with weight my entire life... even when I wasn't overweight! (Shocking to look at old photos and see that I was a normal and not a loathesome blob child. Blob child still lives somewhere in my brain.) My mother was (is) constantly obsessed about her weight, always on a diet, always needing to "lose that last 10 pounds", even when she was stick thin. That had an affect on me, her only daughter. But many years have passed between childhood and now and it seems to me I have some responsibility for where I am now.

The Beck Diet Solution has been the most effective tool I've found for changing the most important part of any change program: my mind. Sadly, I didn't take full advantage of the power of the ideas write away. The first time I figured I could get the benefits from reading (not doing) the book. Eventually, I got around to DOING the book. I lost over 50 pounds, felt incredible, ran my first half marathon... and then life happened. My father got lung cancer and I was involved in providing care. My sociopathic little brother (unresolved anger issues here) divorced his mail order bride and I stepped in to provide childcare for his two young sons while finishing prereqs for and then starting nursing school. And then of course, there was nursing school. First thing to go was exercise, then nutrition until I was eating fast food in my care while commuting between school and childcare, vending machine food while studying in the library, not sleeping and exercising by tipping my elbow with a giant cup of black coffee.

SO I gained back almost all my weight, approached the boundary of hypertension, ruined my blood sugars (I have juvenile diabetes) and felt constant stress and anxiety. When summer break came, I vowed to establish exercise and eating patterns that will carry me through the last year of school. I found that getting older just makes it harder to get back to where you were. (There's a Response Card in there somewhere.)

I got the Beck workbook and was making progress but then I kind of went off in my own direction. I do that without accountability and "my own direction" is almost always off in the weeds where the high-fat, high-salt junk is hiding.

Marsha was my diet coach on my Beck path to success. She guided me out of many a deadend with her experience and wisdom. So when I saw she and Gayle were organizing a Beck reboot, I grabbed the lifeline. I need you all to help me build a strong foundation so that I can survive the next 9 months!

emoticon to have gone on for so long. Just want to say before I sign off how really, really grateful I am for all of you Rebooters. I know I can't make the changes I need without your support and company. Together, we WILL do it!

Jess

Hi! I'm Barbara (barbaraj73)

I live about 15 miles outside of Syracuse, NY ( just about smack dab in the center of the state.)

Have spent my whole life (literally!) dealing with food and weight-related issues. Have tried just about everything and then some. Unfortunately, developed some very bad habits along the way. This past winter/spring I lost 40 lbs and have reached a healthy goal weight. I am now working hard to maintain and, perhaps, lose a few more.

Now that I'm at a comfortable weight, it's time to develop a better attitude and healthier habits - that's my plan for the coming weeks.

Hi, my name is Judi. I am the Beck team "leader" but I have been missing in action! And as I have said of other disappearing folks, I have gained back over half of the weight I lost. I let my good habits slip away, the most important one, tracking my food. I just RESIST the idea of doing it!!! I am very excited about this new initiative and I thank Ellen and Gaye for getting us all moving. *I meant Marsha! Although Ellen is also great!****

I am 60 years old. I am married with two grown married sons and one grandson (my favorite person in the world!) I am a math tutor (and was an engineer a long time ago.)

I forgot the outline of this post, so I am going to be right back...

Name (or that you'd rather be called by your screenname)
Call me Judi or Judi_Cutie is also fine.

Location
Naperville Illinois, a suburb of Chicago

Brief weight history (not really totally brief)
I have always felt that I had a weight problem since I was about ten years old. (I was a "skinny" child before that.) Looking back, my weight was really mostly just fine all the way into my young adulthood, but I felt fat compared to other girls. I am about 5'5" and I was in the 140's in high school and college. Leading up to my wedding, I had gotten to 155 and then lost it back to about 140 again. After two kids, I was up around the 170's. I never really got back below 165 again. But looking back, that is really not a bad weight for me either! I reached 225 about 8 years ago. Using Beck and Spark, I got down to 180 and stayed there for a few years. I crept to 190, 195, 200 over a couple of years. I recently got up to 204 and I said, YIKES, and I am not about 201. But the idea that I went back over 200 makes me really mad at myself.

What you hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution
I want to get back my "Beck-ness" and relearn all the things that helped me before. Weight wise, it would be nice to get safely below 200 (maybe 190?).

Hi, my name is Debbie and I am 64, live in San Diego and haven't reached my goal weight but have started to regain what I have lost.

This is not a Reboot for me, but rather a boot in the rear to stop the merry-go-round of weight loss. I have been on SparkPeople since...I don't remember but during a health-crisis in early 2009 I met a SparkFriend that would become the best long-distance friend a woman can have.

I am single, love animals, on my 2nd career (non-profit fundraising), an avid volunteer, a singer, a traveler and #1 - A Child of God. Love to laugh and try to live life intentionally.

What you hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution

Hi, my name is SAM, I am 30 years old and I am from the Philippines. To sum up my weight story, I started gaining weight when I was 23 when i was put on anti depressants and anxiolytics. I gained 90 pounds. I am on and off at the gym and not consistent about making healthy changes in eating.

What I hope to accomplish is to develop the skills or resistant techniques as suggested by the book. And i hope to lose 9-10 pounds by oct 22

Good morning!! My name is Lora and I live in South Georgia.

My weight history spans being underweight until I became a mother. After having my children I began gaining weight. I got a handle on it for a while with Weight Watchers and even became a Weight Watchers leader. After a car accident that left me unable to continue leading meetings I left the position. Life happened and I returned to my old habit of eating to cope. I have struggled for the past 6 years with being overweight.

I hope to make progress towards my fitness goals and to gain a new perspective/wisdom on the material by participating in this reboot.

hi, i'm susan (swede_su) - i think we susans/sues win as most popular name here:-)

location: sweden for the next week and a half, then returning home to winthrop washington, where the wildfires are...

history: i was a thin person growing up until baby weight, which fell off fairly easily, though a little harder each time (three kids). then a sedentary job came in 1995 and i found myself going from 105 lb to 162 lbs (i'm 5'2"). then came the roller coaster - gaining, losing, gaining. although i joined spark in 2009, i never really started using the site until 2012. three months later, august 2012, i hit goal (105 lbs) which i never thought i would see again. managed maintenance pretty well until a blip in spring 2014, and got serious once again with spark, and was back at goal before my maintenance anniversary last summer. in the fall, i discovered beck by reading blogs by watermellen and slenderella, among others, and by new year's i had hit the unbelievable high school weight of 101. that was when i bought my dress for my daughter's wedding in october. and that has been my goal for the year - for that dress to fit, and to learn/practice what it takes to stay that way.

i am 63, heading for 64, out walking with DH daily (and our border collie at home in WA), and run about 15 miles a week. the fitbit is our challenge, 15,000 steps daily. we initially lost our weight on plant-based vegan, and still follow this lifestyle pretty faithfully.

my beck cards are actually still in my suitcase, though i have not taken them out since we arrived here in sweden, and i have gotten lazy about tracking. time for a reboot! my book is home in winthrop, but i just downloaded the kindle version, so i can still start with the group.

goal: to reinforce what i learned last year reading and blogging beck, to continue maintenance at the low end of my range, to wear the dress i bought last january to my daughter's wedding - and maintain beyond. no more roller coaster!

Good morning! I'm Julie and I've been with Sparks since June of 2007. In that time I've lost 170lbs and regained 70. So now I'm trying to lose it again. Hence the reason I'm here.
I started reading The Beck Diet Solution book a couple of years ago through Gaby1948. With as busy as my life is, I really didn't "get into it" as I could have back then. I'm hoping to change that now. Sorry about that Gaye. Not your fault at all.
I've also started the 21 Day Fix challenge, so will be doing that along side of this. Hoping to see some good weight loss through both programs.
I will be on sporadically at best, because of my work schedule, but I will be reading and will blog as much as I can, when I can, either here or on my own blog. I try to blog daily since Gaby1948, Gabibear and I are also in a challenge together. emoticon
Can you say "Full Plate"
Anyway, you'll see me around, here and there. emoticon

Hi,
I'm Teri. I live near Worcester, MA. ( wuss ter is close -wuss tah is closer, but the residents say wiss tah)
I have struggled with weight issues most of my life. I used to go on starvation diets, get to a low weight, and then gain the weight back. I struggled a lot with the psychological issues of being fat. I remember in junior high , I won an award at the end of the year and afterwards a girl said to me, " wow, that is really great. Congratulations - and you didn't even look fat." I would go from being invisible to men- having no dates when overweight to being extremely popular when thin. Somewhere I read or saw on TV - advice for men on getting an "easy" date -and one thing was-an ex fat girl-they have no self esteem.
I developed bingeing behaviors, too. Starve, lose weight, binge, panic, starve.
Over the period of a year I lost about 60 pounds on SP. this past year I've lost 10. Most of the year has been staying the same. So I have kind of been on an unwanted maintenance.
I hope to reinvigorate myself with studying Beck and start losing again.

Hi, I'm Sue.

I started this journey to live a fully active life and live without weight restrictions. I call it Physical freedom. Prior to joining SP, my comfort zone was ignoring my weight. Today, I am taking responsibility for the choices I make, one by one. I let fear keep me from even trying for years. It was scary to make this decision but I found out that celebrating every small victory, like a glass of water, stops my fears.
I lost 80 pounds in 2009 with SP but faltered and regained 60 prior to restarting this journey in 2014. I am now down more than 30 pounds from my all time high of 278.

I am in my 60's, married and live in Southern California. Yes, this journey is hard. Each and every day it is hard. I give my journey my all each and every day and then I give it 10% more. Nothing is as hard as my life before the journey. Every day is easier than my life before.

Healthy eating is the easiest portion of of my journey. I have chronic asthma so exercise often leaves me breathless. I've focused on slowly increasing my fitness minutes and endurance and I am seeing progress. At first, I walked 1/4 mile I became out of breath and needed to stop for a rest. That was MY MAX. I pushed to increase My Max. Now, I can walk 1 mile and then get out of breath. It's okay. Whatever MY MAX is it is the same as someone else's 5K.

I want to read The Beck Solution so I can keep those inner sabotaging thoughts from driving a wedge between me and my journey. Learning to combat those thoughts one by one over and over again sounds perfect.

Quitting EVERY healthy journey began with whining and discontented laments. It's too hard, Just one, But I want it, I need it, I deserve it, What do you mean I only lost half a pound, It's not worth it. I have already notice my inner voice trying to sabotage this journey.

What I really need is a resilient journey. I want to change my inner sabotaging thoughts and keep them from driving a wedge between me and my journey. Learning to combat those thoughts one by one over and over again sounds perfect to keep my journey intact.

I can't wait to start!

Hi, I'm Cindilp

I live in western Iowa.
Brief weight history
In 2007-2008 I lost 30 pounds with Sparkpeople. I lost using the tracker and living most of the principles in the Beck Diet Solution, but I hadn't seen the book until later. Over the last 8 years I got a new job that is pretty sedentary and has long hours. Not very conducive to getting regular exercise. Also, add in stress. The good news is that it took me 8 years to regain the 30 pounds, so it was a slow process.

What you hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution
Get back on track and begin to lose the weight I regained.

I'm Debbie (Gods_serenity)

I live in Minnesota

Brief weight history:
I've struggle with food, weight since I was 14. I started off of being a restricter. I discovered exercise and used that as a means of keeping weight off. I stayed at a normal weight until I was in mid 30's-40. Then I couldn't keep the weight off like I was. I started doing diets. Gaining losing. This year I want to get to goal and stay there. No more up ad down. I had 10-15 lbs I went up and down with. The past 3 or 4 years it increased to 20-25 lbs. Then I reached goal last November. I sabotage myself and reach the heaviest I've ever been in my life. Now I have 35 lbs to lose. On my petite size that's a lot. I want to stop sabotaging myself.

What you hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution
I want to stop dieting and have a lifestyle change. Stop sabotaging myself. Deal with the reason why I go to food for every emotion. Be free from the pull of food and use it for fuel only. To be on my way to my thin self. I read this book before. Didn't finish it. It was hard doing it on my own. With the accountability here and support I know I can get through the book and workbook. I hope to accomplish that this time. Looking forward in doing this with everyone.

Debbie

2020 is my year to reach goal and STAY there. No going back. With God nothing is impossible.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Name is Sue, actually Sue Anne, or SUZMANNIE is my Spark name.
My location is Long Island, NY

History of weight- have always struggled with weight issues. Went on my first diet at age eleven. Then I gained in response to difficult home environment and was very depressed as a young teen. Managed to lose the weight and carry on through college and an attempted career as a graphic designer. Honestly, had trouble meeting men and living on my own because of a ton of emotional baggage and recurring depression.

Gained 75 pounds and became obese when my mother became ill with pancreatic cancer and passed away and my career stalled out, am still trying to take it off many years later. I have a good job now I like, a technical job with a physics journal publisher. I have been on antidepressants mostly successfully for many years. I did finally meet a wonderful man, had no children by choice, and have been married 18 years.

I have read the book before, and the workbook, and am rereading them now, after WATERMELLEN suggested it. I have my response cards made up. I want to learn to manage my eating behavior better and lose weight. I had lost 20 lbs just by going to the gym, but gained it back. To me, overeating, depression, and actively being an artist are linked, and managing them is key in maintaining mental health. I hate feeling out of control and at the mercy of emotional eating.

Name: Karen - So far LOST 30lbs!
Location: Northeastern US

Brief weight history:
I was a lean child but began some struggles with chubbiness in high school. Really packed on extra weight in my twenties and then lost it on a Weight Watchers program in 1990 (that was when I learned to eat) - I got really skinny then, going from a size 14 to a size 7/8 and sometimes shrank to 5/6. I kept the weight off for many years until I was derailed by an illness in 2001, and the weight crept back on. I went up to 200 lbs.

I tried Weight Watchers new points systems about 5 different times and the "points" plan never 'stuck." I'd lose about 10 lbs and it always came back. Then in 2009, my Mom died, my godmother died, and I got laid off from my job. I managed to lose 15 lbs. Soon after, my sister (who is disabled) needed my help and then had a serious health scare shortly after. Then my beloved dog got ill and I was taking care of everyone but myself. I also suffered a serious back injury that took a long time to heal. Finally I had to put my dog down in 2013, and any weight I'd lost before crept back on. Despite my long-time faith in God, I fell into a terrible depression and I was struggling with obesity, ill-fitting clothes, inability to sleep, severe headaches, and high blood pressure. I managed to lose 10 lbs again but it was hard. That brought me down to 190 lbs.

This past May 2015, at 190 lbs, something different clicked in me. It was the answer to many prayers, and suddenly I was ready and committed to transform my health and fitness. I actually dug out my old Weight Watchers plan from 1990 and, after adjusting to my needs, I've been sticking to the eating plan and really stepping up my exercise and activity. Since May, I have gone from 190 lbs to 170 lbs, meaning I've lost a total of 30 lbs so far this year. I've also lost a lot of inches all around my body. I didn't think it could happen but I have fallen in love with fitness and how much better I feel.

What I hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution:

I am looking forward to learning and applying Beck (and some other resources as well) so that I can not only lose the next 35 lbs but also so I can create a healthy lifestyle that I can live with... I want to learn as much as I can to improve my health and learn to live a healthy fitness lifestyle. I am literally journaling my journey AND everything I am learning that I can apply to myself. I want this time to stick. I don't ever want to go back to the heavier version of myself because it was a miserable place to live. My last 2 blogs from my sparkpage provide a lot more detail on what and how I am doing.

Current weight: 170 lbs. Goal weight: 135 lbs. (35 more to lose!)

Hi, I'm GG -
I live in Tennessee
I have been mostly heavy my whole life but have had some brief periods of successfully losing. I have utterly failed at maintaining. I seem to hit a goal and then give up? get tired? feel scared of success? This time I am determined to really figure what's going on. I happen to love eating all the good-for-you foods and enjoy exercise, so the sort of self-sabatoge has got to stop.
From August 24-October 22 I want to get back on a course that I can stick with. Enjoy myself again and get used to putting myself first so I can be healthy enough to deal with others.
Looking forward to doing this with the group. I've been overwhelmed in the past with all that Spark has on the site and I've tended to just stay away. I've cut down on the teams and emails so I can focus just on Beck.

Oh, it is so great to read all these introductions. Obviously there is a great deal of wisdom and experience here. I can absolutely relate to many of your stories and certainly have some understanding of others.

We now have 46 people on the list for the BDS Reboot! My biggest fear is I will overlook someone. Please let me know if you have not received a SparkMail from me so I can add you.

MTP717 asked in a SparkMail,"Are you doing both diet trap & beck diet solution?"
My answer: We have committed to doing Beck Diet Solution from August 24 and encourage everyone to finish in 60 days, by October 22nd. At that time we'll see what the group wants to do. I definitely would not mind taking on the Beck Blue - The Diet Trap Solution. That would go through the holidays, and if you are like me, you'd like extra support during the holidays. But let's give our good effort to Beck Pink, The Beck Diet Solution, and then see where this group wants to go!!

Together we can support each other, understand Beck at the logical and emotional level, and work to overcome obstacles to success including those sabotaging thoughts!!

My Keys to Success = Tracking! Super Foods! Step Up Cardio! And most important: Quit Quitting!!

My name is Nan and I spend the summer months in north central Idaho. My home is in Hawaii, and we will be returning there on Sept. 1.

I have been overweight most of my life. A number of times I have lost weight,
albeit fleetingly. Weight watchers, OA, laxatives, diet drugs, even electric shock. I found Spark in 2010, and, for the first time I lost weight sensibly. I am at goal, but am terrified of regaining.

Therefore, by learning the Beck method I hope to learn the skills I need in order to remain at goal. Spark works, but you can never have too many weight maintenance skills.

At the present time, I am in the middle of a week-long family celebration, and I find my dietary selections lacking! I need help!

Name: Donna,
I have been trying to lose my last 5 pounds for a few months, instead I ended up gaining 3 more.
I am 61 ,(62 in October) and am 5 feet tall or short. Today I weighed in at 106.8 and I'd like to get down to between 100-105 and stay there.
My eating is my problem, I love ice cream and chocolate and chips and everything else that I can't say no to so I am really excited to learn the tricks of the skinny trade.
Looking forward to tomorrow.

Brief weight history:
I gained weight after I got married in the first two years (40 lbs) and then gained a lot more (56 lbs) during my first pregnancy. I lost the baby weight with Weight Watchers at home & a little more. When I got pregnant with my second son I gained 44 lbs and didn't lose it. Ended up going back to college and gaining another 26 lbs during that time. I am a major stress eater. I had just had my third son and was at my heaviest weight ever (gained 20 lbs during pregnancy) when I found Sparkpeople and the Beck Diet Solution. I did Weight Watchers at home in the beginning and then started calorie counting. I went to the Spark convention in 2009, met real life sparkfriends and ended up losing 70 lbs over 2 1/2 years.

Then life got a little crazy (many, many changes) and at the same time I found out I was pregnant with my 4th son. I gained 65 lbs when I was pregnant. I have struggled the last 3 years trying to lose that weight. Currently doing Weight Watchers. I down 28 lbs since December 2013 (with some bumps in the road).

What you hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution:
I want to be committed to the cognitive behavior techniques again because they really work. I think doing this with others will be just what I need.

I have been on Spark for years, but I am completely new to doing anything social! So new, I don't even know if I am posting correctly. So I apologize in advance if I'm not.

My name is Carrie, or cshullcshells. I am a 44 year old wife and mother to three incredible teenagers. I am fortunate enough to be able to devote my time to my family and several volunteer activities at our local schools, my husband's cancer clinic, and I manage the local youth symphony (I have a trumpeter, a saxophonist, and a harpist). I also run an average of 15-20 miles per week.

Location: Eastern Idaho

Brief weight history:
I spent the majority of my life at a healthy weight. My 80 pound weight gain began 13 years ago when my husband and I moved our family back to our hometown and our extended families. It was made worse by a skiing accident which shattered my tibial plateau in my leg and left me in a wheelchair for months. I lost 40 pounds in a neighborhood weight loss challenge in 2010, but the weight loss stalled. Finally, in January of 2012, I decided that I was punishing myself far more the way that I was living than any diet had ever punished me. I went to Weight Watchers, and over the course of 6 months, I lost another 50 pounds to reach my goal weight. I continued to lose for a few months before settling at 130 pounds for a total weight loss of almost 100 pounds. I have maintained between 130 and 136 pounds for 3 years now until this summer! We just dropped off my oldest, my son, at the University of Utah yesterday. Between all of the celebrations accompanying his graduation, and the emotional nature of having your first leave the nest, I reached 140 pounds -- which I haven't seen in a while. It is not the end of the world, but I have noticed that I am using food for more than energy and I know I need to curb this before it gets worse.

What you hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution:
This challenge has come at the perfect time. I love the Beck Diet Solution, and I know that I need a reboot myself. I also want to be able to connect with people here on Spark as I have not ever been very good at social media. I believe I have something to add as I have successfully maintained for over three years, and I would love to be able to help as so many of you have helped inspire me.

Glad to get to know all of you.

Name: Earnie
Location: Monteagle, Tennessee, USA

Brief Weight History:
I was never over weight until my mid to late 50’s. I never learned the discipline of exercising for exercise’s sake. What I did before was “fun”. Now because of age and old injuries, I find it difficult to do some things and boring for others.

A car accident, 5 surgeries, other medical issues, retirement and being less active while eating the same foods and getting older equaled weight gain. I did maintain a 20+ pound loss from eating a low fat vegan diet for a year and a half before getting careless and going back to my old way of eating. But over the years since then, the pounds have crept back on. At the end of January 2014, my husband died and since then, I have tried to fill a deep dark hole and empty evenings with food. The time has come for change.

Goals:
I hope to create my next life—to find my joy and my strength—to be more active-to find new interests—to stop obsessing over food and figure out how to cook for one.

Brief weight history: I lost 60 pounds with sparkpeople in 2008 and I've kept it off for almost 7 years with the felp of this website and the support of my sparkfriends. Prior to that I was a typical yo-yo dieter, obese and pre-diabetic. Even in maintenance, I still struggle with the pounds trying to creep back on over the holidays, and I usually start every new year about 10 pounds above my happy weight. This year it has been really hard to shed those extra pounds. I am finally making some progress after letting go of my stubbornness and paying attention to this book that I've heard so many of you raving about.
emoticon
What I hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution: I am almost through the book once and I plan to finish it, but at the same time start again with this group and do a better job of working all the steps. I would like to get a handle on my sabotaging thoughts and let go of the concept that I can't get through the holidays, or even a weekend, without gaining weight. I would also like to see if this new way of thinking could help me get to my ultimate weigh loss goal, which is 10 pounds less than my happy weight.

Thanks for letting me in!

Hi All I am Mary and I live in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA. Many of my Spark buddies call me Queen and that or Mary are fine with me.

i was a skinny kid and right up to age 40 when I got a great job, got sober, got a lovely husband (second marriage, no kiddies) and got fat. All at once. I found Spark though a colleague in 2008 and set my ticker at 176 although I had hit 180 just before I found Spark. I am 5'5". I got down to 149--for one whole day and started the slow climb back up. I hit 160 in May and decided to get back to Spark habits. I am a firm believer in CBT and have used the skills for other things in my life. I Googled CBT and weight loss and came up with TBDS....Beck Pink. A Spark friend (Carolicious) told me about this team. I did the 42 days faithfully and today I am 143.8 with only 9 more pounds to go. I combine the Mediterranean style of eating and Spark log and tracker and it is really working for me.

My goals for the reboot are to lose the last 9 and to begin maintenance. I only recently finished the first reading (one chapter a day) and this reboot will help me practice the skills. As I went through it the first time I realized I had to go back and re do several chapters until I "got it". I am convinced that for me the Beck approach is a really good match.

Brief weight history: normal but sturdy child, puppy fat in teens, dropped by 19. Then up down up down etc. Got rid of nearly all excess fat in 2013/14 and then added a whole lot recently, darn it. Getting my exercise on track again, and the good feeling that goes with that.
What I hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution. I lost focus and I expect this will help me focus. Some new techniques. I have already done a lot of reframing. To be honest I deeply resisted some of the Beck stuff and haven't read the book all the way through yet, so I feel some trepidation and anticipate some struggle. Still, if you always do what you always did, you always get what you always got... So I expect to find a way to change somethings I need to change.

Brief weight history:

Slow, roller-coaster ride meaning quite a length of time between ups and downs with an average weight that slowly crept up with each significant weight loss and the addition of increased physical challenges (painful arthritis since my 30's + other 'stuff'). Adult weight range (5'8"): 140 to 292.

What you hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution:

Establish the mindset to get that SP ticker moving in the right direction. I ordered the pink book after reading WATERMELLEN's detailed Blogs on her refresher of this a year or so ago. Life threw me some major curve balls and my copy of the book ended up in the 'to be read' stacks.

Now living in and getting acquainted with Idaho. May 7, 2012, I was a volunteer at a local hospital in Seattle--very active and running errands for the staff. Then I had the Whooping Cough vaccine--24 hours later I was in excruciating pain literally from the top of my head to my toes. The aluminum in it turned me into a cripple. In Spring of 2014, I went to Mayo in Rochester, MN, for ten days hoping to find help, and they did help. The only solution, however, was physical therapy. Now I am on a healthful nutrition plan and exercising. I recently joined Walking 4 Fun and am motivated to do better every day. It does appear that my legs are coming back.

It is never too late to improve your health--I am 8 decades plus 8 years young.

History: I have been overweight since I was a kid! I started dieting when I was 13 and have been on and off diets ever since. Over the past 10 years I have lost 50 pounds and was at my goal weight, but never really got my thinking right. I have fallen back into some unhealthy habits and gradually regained 12 pounds. To be honest I am afraid that if I don't change my thinking I will eventually regain all the weight I have lost. I recently rejoined SP and was so excited to receive an email about the Reboot Group! I can't wait to get started! Being a part of a group doing Beck together is just what I needed!

Goals: Be in control of my eating/ Know how to deal with cravings/ Stop binges
Be self confidant.
Stop obsessing about diets and finally be comfortable in my own skin.

Name My Name in Nancy but you can use Daisybell if you want!

Location I live in Colorado

Brief weight history I've always been overweight. I weighed 270 pounds in 2009 when I found myself unable to get up out of bed because of my degenerative disc disease. I found Spark people and lost 90 pounds over the next 2 years. I became physically active as I lost weight and began running. I plateaued 2 years ago then began putting on weight this Spring when my back pain returned and I couldn't run any more. I've put on 10 pounds and returned to binging. I am dealing with my depression about my decreased activity and am ready to get my eating back on track.

What you hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution
I hope to return to a sane healthful way of eating and to be able to adapt to a less active lifestyle so I can remain as happy and excited with life as I have been the last 4 years. I am looking forward to working with all of you as we journey together with the Beck Diet Solution.

History: Thin throughout my childhood and teen years. Married at 135lb. Guess love makes one hungry cause I started eating. While dating, I would eat with boyfriend, then dessert, then home to my favorite -- an onion sandwich, Italian bread, lots of mayo, onion, vinegar, salt and pepper. Can't go on a date smelling like an onion!! Once married, weight went up, kids - big ones. 10 lb 9 oz and 9 lb 13 oz. And of course went way over 200 lbs and only lost the weight of the babies. Got down to 170's and stayed there until I retired. In 2011, I joined SP and lost 40 lbs (was at 200 then) Stayed at 160 until dh had a couple strokes and emotional stress took me right up to 190. I rejoined SP and lost 10 lbs with Beck, then had foot surgery -- no exercise but plenty of eating. Got a bit depressed, well, maybe a lot depressed and gained it all back -- 197. Yuk. I am primary caregiver to dh, he can still do many things but I think things are getting worse.

Goals: Get my head back where it should be - learn healthy behaviors like I did before and love myself!

Location: A small hobby farm near Dayton, Ohio.

Brief weight history: Looking back at pictures, I was an overweight child, but it was never made an issue, i.e. I didn't realize anything was different. I carried a few extra pounds into early teens, but I also played sports (track and soccer) and again, there was never an issue. I actually lost weight in college because I started running more and that, coupled with the extra walking to classes and dorms did me pretty well. I started to gain a few more pounds while in clinicals (to become an RN) because the effort there was studying and more studying, lol.

Lost it again to enter the military where I always rode the line and worried before weigh-ins (twice per year), but always met or exceeded my physical tests. After retiring almost 4 years ago, I've gained 25 pounds+! And I still run and hike. Obviously the eating is something I need to focus on.

What you hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution: I need to reset my vision, turn inward to find out while I eat emotionally and what to do about it. I hope to conquer a diet-Coke addiction, too. And be inspired and motivated by all the lovely participants!

HI, everyone! I am SO very excited about this reboot and the huge turnout for it!

Name: Gaye
Location: Northern Michigan....outside of West Branch one way and Tawas the other way (the BIG lake Huron)

Brief weight history:

Brief weight history: I have literally been overweight since 9 years old (I am 67 now) and not only yo-yoed but spent many year suffering several eating disorders (CONTROL issues). In my adult life I bounced everywhere in between a low (anorexic/bulimic) weight of 89 lbs and 336 lbs. NEVER once being able to actually "maintain" ANY weight....just roller-coastering. Whenever I did lose weight and become "normal sized" there was never a time I didn't begin gaining again very quickly back to the same or bigger weight.

Fast forward to a different marriage (21 years now with the wonderful man that has done nothing but HELP me since I met him-and NO more "control" issues so no eating disorders!) He is a "normal eater" but I still could not learn how to eat from him. One day with the Lord's help, I "accidentally" discovered SLENDERELLA61 and the maintenance team. I began watching from afar and reading blogs. These people were MAINTAINING their goal weight! And not for months but YEARS. Then, interspersed in the threads I started hearing "Beck" this and "Beck" that. And in passing, Marsha (SLENDERELLA61) mixed something in a comment or blog that included "Beck" and I asked her a question and she wrote back that she DID know Beck and what it was.....I decided right then and there that I WOULD try Beck also! I wrote to tell her and she wrote back offering to "coach" me in it! I accepted, was very blessed, and a NEW LIFE was born for me! A "NORMAL" life...all I ever desired in life!

I began Beck snd I weighed 163.6 lbs (I had thought that was WHERE I was doomed for life to maintain because it was comfortable in a way but nowhere near the 336 on Novermber 1, 2014....but soon Marsha intro'd me to weightgrapher.com and my FIRST weight on there was December 8, 2014....already down to 152.0.

Battled weight as a yo-yo over a range from about 150 to 225 for decades. Most success pre-Spark was dropping about 80 pounds in 1989-1991 and taking up running... kept it off for nearly five years before letting life explode and regaining 50 pounds in a year! Kept yo-yoing until things got serious with a son heading off to be deployed overseas. I knew I had to do something, and that's when I took myself in hand, knowing I'd done it before, dropped much further than I ever had before, and have been maintaining in the 120 - 130 range since August of 2010. Specifically, 120-123 lbs! And it has been relatively easy.

I told others back then that I WOULD be redoing Beck 2, 3, 4 or more times PER year to keep it DOWN in my SPIRIT and become PART of me! I still feel that way and always will!

What you hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution: I actually summarized this above so won't again...I definitely just want to know Beck MORE and MORE. I have all the Beck books...Pink workbook, Green Beck and Blue Beck and will buy any others that ever come out but Pink is still my FAVORITE...like a comfy pair of slippers!

So, I intend to accomplish getting to know Beck MORE and MORE (intimately you might say) and that is why I am doing it again....and will continue!

I'm 64 years old. I've been maintaining at around 67 kilos for fifteen months, but I've recently gained two to three pounds for the first time in those fifteen months. I've found maintenance pretty easy, but I've slipped into a few bad habits - desserts and lack of exercise. I need to get serious again, and I need motivation and support to do it.

I was average weight until forty, at about 63 kilos. I got to 83 kilos by fifty. Then I got a lot of it off, but it was all back on four years later. Got it off again. Two years ago I'd put half of the weight back on and decided enough was enough. This time it had to be permanent. I'm pretty pleased with what I've done, but I don't want to start another upward journey this time. It's great timing for me to do this Beck challenge. It will be my second time around with Beck.

Brief Weight History; have had issues with weight on and off all my life. I lost a lot of weight but gained it back. I do not know how much I weighted when I first started my journey, but I do know that at my heaviest I was wearing clothing that was way too tight -- because I was in denial.

I discovered Beck through a girlfriend.

Goals for 8/24 - 10/22 -- Use the Beck Books to help me think about my relationship with food to become healthy and positive. I know now that attitude is everyting

I never had a weight problem until I had breast cancer in 1993. Put on 60 pounds and have been up and down ever since. Lost it all for about 6 months with Weight Watchers, but put it all back on again. I was down 20 pounds but in April this year found out the cancer had come back after 22 years cancer free. I have lost 5 of the 10 I put back on in May, but need help.

I am excited to restart Beck with such a wonderful group, and I will be starting to work with a trainer September 15. My new trainer is familiar with the special needs of people that have had a double mastectomy as I have had. I am feeling great and did not have to have chemo or radiation this round, so life is so good!

I still want to lose about 35 pounds, maybe more, but we shall see when we get there. And between Beck working on my mind and Kim working on my physical fitness, I know I am going to make it this time!

Name: Ellen (and "Ellen Ellen Watermelon" was a childhood nickname related both to my love of watermelon and my rotund shape!)

Location: Ontario, Canada

Brief Weight History: Struggled with weight all my life. First dieted down to "slim" in grade 8 to fit into my grade 8 graduation dress. Fashion remains a huge motivator!! Stayed slim through high school and university, for the most part, always pretty active in fitness: as a lifeguard/swim instructor/XC skier etc.. Packed on the pounds as a young wife and mother, lost 'em again while a full time mum with two small children working as a volunteer fitness instructor plus running 10 km a day: probably about 170 pounds and size 12-14. And then on my return to school, packed 'em back on, reaching a high of 230-240 and size 18 to 20. Lost the weight down to 150-155 size 8 in 2000-2001 using Susan Estrich's "Making the Case for Yourself" (terrific book). Regained 20 pity party pounds in 2009 with breast cancer dx. Joined Spark People in 2009 while undergoing radiation therapy and dumped the excess (which was essential to guard against estrogen-positive breast cancer recurrence). Have kept it off with minor variation since then: and dropped into the 140s where I maintain, but not without constant struggle/eternal vigilance. Best resources for me include Steve Siebold's www.fatloser.com series (free on line) and Dr. Judith S. Beck, pink version particularly. This will be my third formal time through Beck.

Goals August 24-October 22: Refresh my cognitive techniques for thinking like a thin person: strengthen my resistance muscle and renew my fundamental acceptance that yup, I'll be doing this for the rest of my life. Doing what? Tracking my food for optimal nutrition while keeping the calories under 1400 (as I get older, well under). Tracking. Every. Day.

Brief weight history: Battled weight as a yo-yo over a range from about 150 to 225 for decades.

What you hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution: I was a late-comer to the Beck books, being already in maintenance the first time I worked through "Beck Pink". Right now, I am starting to work through Beck Blue (The Diet Trap). What I hope to accomplish during this time (when I'll be reading others' progress through Pink while I blog my way through Blue) is to keep motivation high, strengthen those skills for the traps I still have trouble with... and enjoy the fellowship of others using this strong approach to truly train ourselves to be better caretakers of the precious resource we each have in one, issued for life, human body!

Name: Michelle, but if there's more than one Michelle in the group, I also go as Zella online :)
Location: I live in southern Germany but am "home" in SW Florida

Brief weight history: Reached my highest after hysterectomy in 2007. Started exercising, then found Spark in early 2008 and reached goal about 8 months later. Maintained for awhile, then the weight slowly crept back up. Never got all the way back to peak, though, thanks to good Spark habits! The past 5 years have been very stressful. There have been lots of ups and downs personally and on the scale. Life is settling down a bit and I've been on a good downward trend for the past 2-3 months and want to continue.

What you hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution: My Spark friend SEAJESS has lots of good things to say about the book. As a teacher and counselor, cognitive therapy is familiar to me and I'd like to see how it can be applied to weight loss. The Bible talks about being transformed by the renewing of your mind (Rom 12:2 and one of my favorite chapters in the Book!), and I think that's what's needed if I'm going to live a healthy lifestyle for the rest of my days here on the planet! I'm currently happy with a weight loss of 0.5 - 1 pound a week.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to accomplish the 60-day goal of reading and working through the book with the other challenges I'm involved in here on Spark, but I'll do what I can. I look forward to sharing insights with the other Rebooters! My book should arrive tomorrow (Monday) so I won't be too far behind. Thanks for reading!

I just thought we might want to get to know each other. It might be good to have all these posts together.

How about:

Brief weight history
What you hope to accomplish from August 24-October 22 through Beck Diet Solution

*After 5 decades of obesity I lost 85 pounds 6 years and 5 months ago. It take a daily commitment for me to maintain. Not easy, but worth it.
*I'd like to lose 2 pounds and reset my goal weight range downward. My goal is to go the entire 2 months planning every bite of food. I am planning to log my food and each day and then write an ideal version of that day's choices, thereby ending up with a couple months of good eating/menu plans.
[For those of you not currently tracking your food, note that Beck does not expect you to start your food plan until after you have learned some basic skills such as sitting down to eat, eating slowly and enjoying every bite, giving yourself credit, etc. So don't be in any hurry to start a "diet". Yes, I'd rather call it a healthy lifestyle, too. But Beck uses "diet" so sometimes I will, too.]
