-go on with the healthy lifestyle learned in weight loss phase
-just add healthy foods gradually to stop losing
-work out every day - 30-60 minutes is enough to maintain weight and good mood
-do not try to balance overeating by extreme workouts, it is not going to work
-avoid overeating, instead of satisfaction you get stronger cravings

I am just about ready to get started on this. My New Year started with a death in the family so my goals have been put aside. Look forward to working on the blue book. I am going to check the forums to get a gist of the way it is going this time.

I found an app called Wunderlist that I'm using to store my ARCs, reminder cards, goals, morning routine, and any other lists I might need to review. I'm finding it quite helpful.

Feel free to call me Kay, Gaye, lol, and no worries! I think this is more of a self-led type of book, so all it really needed was a tiny bit of organization. And sorry if there's any confusion, Queen. We've got nine threads altogether in the "Goals!!" forum, each titled and reserved for a specific topic - "BECK BLUE REVIEW: Foundational Skills, BECK BLUE REVIEW: The Stress Trap," etc. So, whenever you'd like to discuss that particular topic, that's a good place to post.

I don't have an opinion on where we post, so will post wherever you decide. I read Chapter 2 today and wrote a blog. The problem with blogs is people who don't know of Beck's work get totally confused, as I once did. THANKFULLY, I asked the right questions to get me started.

Okay guys, so here's a rough idea of what Fifi, Aphorne, and myself were chatting about in the team wall. We could make nine separate threads dealing with Beck Blue -

Beck Blue Review: Foundations; Beck Blue Review: Stress; Beck Blue Review: Emotional Eating; Beck Blue Review: Food Pushers; Beck Blue Review: Family Problems; Beck Blue Review: Travel and Dining Out; Beck Blue Review: Holidays; Beck Blue Review: Psych Issues; Beck Blue Review: Getting Off Track.

We'd all post and link any blogs relating to those topics in the respective thread, and this original thread could be used for general discussions and such.

Whacha think?

halfway through chapter 2, foundation strategies - blog here:

it does indeed feel like cliff notes of pink beck so far, but that's the foundation - we need to see what lies ahead. for new readers, it is new material; for those of us who have read pink, the foundation is already (theoretically) laid and we can move forward faster.

Finished reading Beck Blue chapter 2 "Foundation Strategies" today. So far, it feels like a Cliff Notes version of Beck Pink. (Yes, I would like some cheese with that whine...)

I haven't reached the meaty part of Beck Blue yet, the strategies for dealing with the Diet Traps. That comes once I've confirmed that I have the listed foundation strategies well ingrained. Spending the next week working on that, will report back

Okay, here we go! I'm excited about getting into another Beck book to polish up my skills. :) Since we're all kind of doing our own thing, I'm making a schedule for myself where I spend three days focusing on each foundational strategy in the book before moving on to the traps I need to focus on. So, for today, I did the quiz to figure that out!

Stress - 5
Emotional Eating - 3
Food Pushers - 2
Family Problems - 3
Travel Problems - 6
Holidays - 7
Psych Issues - 2
Getting off Track - 4

Obviously, travel and holidays are my weak point right now. Tomorrow through 1/5, I'm going to work on the first foundation - creating and reading a new Advantages List.

I'm really interested in getting this going myself! I have the book ready to go, but I'm waiting to see if we can form a cohesive group, as we did with Beck Pink last year. If anyone has a plan or knows if Gaby has one, give me a heads up! :)

Have started reading Beck Blue and have completed the Quiz. Will come back later and update this post with the results ...

Stress: 2
Emotional Eating: 0
Food Pushers: 1
Family Problems: 0
Travel and Eating Out: 2
Holidays: 0
Psychological Issues: 1
Getting Off Track: 0

This is where I currently am. I had the good fortune to work with a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist decades ago. Thank you Barabara!

In the past there are two areas that would have risen to the level of an "issue" (5 or above). They are Stress and Travel Eating Out.

What I find particularly interesting is that even though Stress is an area of needed focus for me, when I am stressed I quit eating. I do not use food to relax. My tendency is to head out to eat, I'm too busy to take care of myself by taking the time to prepare a meal. (How's that for a sabotaging thought?) And, oh yes, I STRONGLY DISLIKE cooking! Do not enjoy it at all. I do it because I need to nourish my body and my body requires food as fuel, to survive. It is a necessity, plain and simple.

Too bad... I got the pink book a few months ago and am still reading it. I can't spend any more money on 'diet type books'...
In my country the books aren't available through the library. I intend to follow this thread though also if I can't read the book.

Sorry if I'm jumping ahead, but I re-read Chapter 1 thought I'd share my quiz results with you. I have 4 really big traps, three border line traps, and one that's no trap at all.

Stress Total: 3
I'm not a very stressed person, but I do feel entitled to unwind after work.

emoticon Emotional Eating: 6
The tired, bored, procrastinating trap...look out!

emoticon Food Pushers: 0
What's peer pressure??

emoticon Family Problems: 5
Keeping junk in the house for others: boo! But I also recognize that it's an easy excuse to bring my own junk in.

Travel and Eating Out: 3
There's some risk here, but not much

emoticon Holidays: 6
Ouch. I was really looking forward to the holiday days I had off this year, but I didn't have a plan on how to spend my time. I think there might be alot of overlap here for me with the emotional eating trap.

Psychological Issues: 3
A little frustration, but manageable

emoticon Getting Off Track: 6
Oh yeah! It's so easy to criticize yourself when you try so hard and you don't succeed.

I picked up the Kindle version of Beck Blue ("The Diet Trap Solution"), which appears to have 10 chapters. Absent any other group trek directions, I'm going to try to absorb 1 or 2 chapters per week, and blog my thoughts as I go... Oh, and re-read some of the blogs from the August Trek, I know there was someone who was doing Beck Blue instead of Beck Pink!

I bought the Kindle version and have been reading it. I'd also like to know if there's an official start date for this book study.

Yes, you can start with any book. I have only worked Pink.
It took me a few goes to get through it. Maybe if you read it first, it might help, but working through a step at a time is he way ot get the most out of it. Look at the August Reboot for people who blogged on the day you are on. I went through with that group and if I hadn't I doubt I would have finished. I bet if you look back you will see some thinking that has already changed, if you worked up t day 15. It does get easier!

It's my understanding that the different Beck books are not sequential. I think they were published pink, green and then blue in order. Each book is an updated version of their CBT program.

Hi there. We'll be starting this in January, so the thread isn't active yet. I haven't bought Beck Blue yet, so can't advise on the difference, but I like Beck Pink a lot!
In the meantime a bunch of us have just started doing the eating behaviours in Beck Pink, if you'd like to join in, feel free.

I just joined this team. And a little while ago I just starting reading the pink book. Is there a big difference between the pink and blue? Should one do the pink book BEFORE doing the blue? Thanks.

I just recently joined the Beck Diet Solution Forum and am looking forward to doing the BBJ 2016. I've already started the book (before hearing about the goal) and really like it. Onward!

One question - how do I find the blog that's referenepced in this thread? I'm somewhat new to all if this... Thanks!

Thanks Gaye
I am reading through the blogs by the participants of the Beck Diet Solution August 2015 Reboot. I found out about it through SeaJess. I think I will stick to reading them and wait for the next Pink Book Beck Diet Solution Reboot. There are lots of great posts and I am especially interested in the ones that relate to me at this life stage, peri or menopausal women with reduced BMRs and who are living active, athletic, healthy, thriving lives at or approaching goal weight.

BTW, small discoveries of what works for us push us forward, I have been taking 2 tablespoons of coconut oil (almost) daily since I saw on your blog, and you gave me more information of how it worked for you as a counter action to binging and it has worked amazingly well for me. Thanks for that advice.

I followed the Beck Diet Solution August 2015 Reboot.

I am hoping to do a reboot in the future.

If I have never read a Beck book before, are they sequential?
Is the Pink book first and should be done before the Blue?

Just wondering if the Beck Blue January 2016 would be a good idea for me to try or not

I'm in! Doing Beck pink was the best gift I've ever given myself. Doing it as a group was such a blessing. Fifty different takes on each day's reading was such a delight. It helped my clarify my ideas and sharpen my Helpful Thoughts.

So worth the investment of time.
