For today put out the fires that are burning in your hotspots and flat surfaces. Put away what needs to be put away and toss what needs to be tossed. Set your timer for 15 minutes and GO! You can do anything for 15 minutes.

Dear Friends,

We are ready to go diving! You are to go Sofa and Chair diving! This means to throw off those cushions and dig out all of the things that have been swallowed up by the sofas and chairs. In our house we always seem to find that elusive sock that we swear the dryer ate. There have also been a few cheerios, candy wrappers and popsicle sticks found deep in those areas too! If you are feeling REALLY adventurous you can go diving under the sofas and chairs also. Grab a trash bag and start diving!

Dear Friends,
Today I want you to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that does not belong in your living room. Things that have gotten thrown in a corner, on a chair, or even the floor. The things that you almost don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it out! If it does not belong there then out it goes!

This does not mean that you have to spend three hours in your living room, do what you can do for 15 minutes.

Zone 1 Mission #1 Friday

Dear Friends,
Today is only day in Zone 1, the Front Entrance, Porch and Dining Room. For today's mission just spend 15 minutes in the entrance way of your home. Grab all the mail, shoes and jackets and put them away. I am always so surprised at how much stuff seems to accumulate in that one area! This is one area that when you tackle it and you are finished that you feel such a huge accomplishment because it is what you see first as you come through the door!

Dear Friends:
This week, we have been tackling clutter in our bedrooms. So, today we are going to clean off the nightstands! Get the tissues, cups and stuff that has piled up, toss and put away. Then grab a feather duster or dust rag and dust the surface. Place a pretty candle or picture there. Something that is new to that spot that you love to see.

Waking up and not seeing a pile of things on the nightstand and a pile of clothes will make your morning a little brighter!

Dear Friends,
Wednesday is Anti-procrastination Day. We are going to straighten up the floor of your closet! Are the shoes piling up and you can't find two shoes that are a like? Do you think you have too many shoes? While you are lining up your shoes; pick two pair to give away or throw away. The next time you are looking for the pair of shoes that match your outfit, you will smile because you will be able to find them without getting down on your hands and knees. This will put another smile on your face and keep your hair from getting messed up.

Today is the day to attack the clothes pile. Now you all know what I am talking about. This pile is either on a chair, on top of the hamper, dresser or at the foot of your bed. Set your timer for 15 minutes and grab some hangers or start folding. While you are doing this do not hang up or fold something that you hate! This is the time to let it go!! Dear Friends,
Today let's grab some general purpose cleaner and shine those counter tops and bathroom sinks! Clear everything off the counter top and wipe them from side to side and top to bottom. Then use a little elbow grease and scrub your sink, then spritz the counter top and sink with a little windex to make it shine.

This is the last day we have in the guest bedroom. We have worked hard this week, and I am proud of you! Today set your timer and relax. For 15 minutes sit down and have a cup of tea or coffee (don't forget to drink your water). Take time to be still and take care of you.

Zone 3: Mission #4 Thursday

Dear Friends:
For the bathroom today, take 10 minutes to toss old cosmetics and perfumes. If you have these items that you have not used for over a year but they are still hanging around, it is time to dump them. If you have not worn anything in the past year then toss it. Most cosmetics have a limited shelf life and are harboring grounds for bacteria. This also applies to lotions and moisturizers.

I understand for some of you who are new to FlyLady there is a lot of hard work to be done. So, today we are going to do an extra 27 Fling Boogie like we did on Monday. For those of you who are FLYing and just need some maintenance in this room your mission is to sweep or vacuum this room.
One little thing that helps me is to put on some uplifting music while I do these missions!

Zone 3: Mission #3 Wednesday

Dear Friends:
Bathroom Mission: Today you are to wash your bathroom rugs, shower curtains and accessories. This will take longer than 15 minutes and for those of you that are working outside the home you may have to schedule this. In total, to take the rugs to the machine and bring them back to the bathroom is less than 15 minutes but the wait time for the washing machine and dryer will take up some time. If you have not rebooted your laundry this is a good time to do that!

For the guest bedroom, Get your feather duster and get the cobwebs out of the corners. I have a bad habit to not step foot in our guest bedroom for a few days, and when I do it is only for a second. I am sure this is a cringe worthy mission, however it has to be done. You CAN do this, YOU have the power to be brave.

Dear Friends:
We have moved through the zones and we have arrived in the bathroom and an extra room!

Your mission for today is to do a 27 fling boogie in the bathroom! Get rid of those shampoos, conditioners, hair gels, etc., that you have held onto but you don't use them! Toss them! Set your timer for 15 minutes and grab a trash bag and start flinging!
You might even be able to get in a second 27 fling in under 15 minutes!

For the extra Room this month, let's get in to the guest bedroom. We will continue with the 27 Fling Boogie in this room. So, set you timer for 15 minutes and start flinging!

Zone 3: Mission #2 Tuesday

Dear Friends:
Today we are going to shine our tubs or showers! We have talked about shinning our sinks since you started and we want you take 5 or 10 minutes to shine that tub or shower. Do not get obsessed with the tub being perfect. You can do this mission while you are in the shower, just scrub the tub with whatever works. Anything is better than nothing, then spritz it with a little windex and dry it with a towel like you shine your sink.

On to the guest bedroom! Today we are going to tackle the bed and get it company ready. If you need to tackle this 15 or 10 minutes at a time that is fine, don't burn out. Now, if the bed is already clean ask yourself "how long has it been since the sheets have been washed?" We are coming into the holidays soon, and I am so excited. Let's rid ourselves of the stress of having to rush, and have this bedroom ready for your loved ones.
Babysteps, set your timer for 15 minutes!

FlyLady Rebecca

FlyLady Rebecca

FlyLady Rebecca

Zone 3: Mission #5 Friday

Dear Friends,
Today let's grab some general purpose cleaner and shine those counter tops and bathroom sinks! Clear everything off the counter top and wipe them from side to side and top to bottom. Then use a little elbow grease and scrub your sink, then spritz the counter top and sink with a little windex to make it shine.

This is the last day we have in the guest bedroom. We have worked hard this week, and I am proud of you! Today set your timer and relax. For 15 minutes sit down and have a cup of tea or coffee (don't forget to drink your water). Take time to be still and take care of you.

Dear Friends:
Today is our last day in the Kitchen! For today I want you to grab your broom and your mop. Sweep your kitchen floor really well and then mop. There are several ways to mop a kitchen floor and no real wrong way. Hot soapy water and wipe. There is no "perfect" mop and no "perfect" way to do it.

Don't obsess and get caught up in perfection! It won't matter if you don't mop the way your Mother did as long as you do it. Remember house work done incorrectly still blesses your family!

Dear Friends,
Today we are going after the big appliances!

I am not telling you to clean your ovens and tear apart your refrigerators. Just wipe off the fingerprints, the spills and the dried food that gets stuck on the stove, dishwasher and the refrigerator. Wipe down the doors, handles and surfaces.

This is not a detailed cleaning mission where you need to spend hours scrubbing, just 15 minutes to surface clean your large appliances.

I really do need to do this mission. I wipe the stainless every day, but we have lots of calcium in the water and it builds up anyway.

Dear Friends:

Today you will need to get an OLD toothbrush and some soap and scrub those kitchen sink faucets! You will be amazed at how much gunk and grime will come off around the handles. You shine your sink everyday but today we are going to make those faucets sparkle! While you are at it take that soapy toothbrush and scrub your rings that you are wearing that have gotten grungy and make them sparkle too!

Zone 2: Mission #2 Tuesday

Dear Friends:

Your mission for today is to scrub down your counter-tops. I don't mean to just wipe a rag across them! I mean you get some hot soapy water and you wipe down the counters from front to back and side to side. Don't take everything off at one time and then plan to put it all back again, I promise you will get sidetracked. You just move your toaster (or coffee pot or whatever this is an example here)over to one side and wipe down the counter, then move over a foot or so, move aside what is there and wipe down some more and so on. We are not marathon cleaning the kitchen here, just getting all the crumbs and junk that seems to build up behind and under things.Don't obsess!

Sneak Peek for the Week

October 6 - 12, 2019

This week we are in Zone 2: The Kitchen

This month's Habit is: Paper Clutter

Zone 2: Mission #1 Monday

Dear Friends:

We are back in the kitchen! The mission for today is not fun. Clean your kitchen trash cans! Take out the trash and wash those cans out. You know what happens when that trash bag slips down and yet the rest of the family still tosses things in there! Use a soapy rag and wipe down the sides and the bottom. Some of you may need to take the can outside and spray it out with the hose. If you have a lid, don't forget to clean the underside.

Dear Friends,
We are in the Dining Room today and I want you to take 15 minutes to clear off some of the things that have begun to pile up on the table. You know those things that you move so you can set the table at night for dinner but then put back. Set your timer and see how much you can get put away. Enjoy when you set the table tonight that you don't have to move those piles around just to eat dinner. Have fun with this, put on some fun music and FLY!

Dear Friends:
For today let's grab our feather dusters and dust off the leaves on our house plants and give them a drink of water! If you want bonus points you can pull of some of the dead leaves and blooms, you know....declutter the plants! If you don't have any live plants but have some artificial arrangements, dust those off and dump any loose leaves and petals.
