Yeah I finally faced the music I didn't want to look either. It's like once I know I messed up, I just give up.

January WILL be better!!

Fasting for a month would probably do me good, too!

I haven't entered anything in my budget spreadsheet. No idea how much I spent. I'm scared to look! And most of what I did buy (other than my pig) was junk food or food for Christmas company.

I WILL be back on track in January! And for all of January, too.

Wow, totaled out at $654, $230 of it fast food. That does include the food for the Christmas dinner, but even excluding that, still well over $400.

Maybe I won't eat next month to even it out.

My total came out to be $409.84. Sigh. It is what it is, and along with everything else, time to get back on track in the New Year paying attention and living within my means! That overspending just meant I have less for January now. emoticon

I'm definitely not going to meet my goal. I scooped up a bunch of meat markdowns at Wal-Mart that I couldn't pass up! So I'm already at my budget for the month. At least we are getting a bonus from work tomorrow so I hopefully can offset the cost with that.

Well, you can always feed them pork! Seriously, if more people than expected show up, tell them they need to go grocery shopping.

I'd be PO'd about not getting the bones and fat.

I'm not setting a goal for this month. It started with about $150 to get my pig butchered. I don't think they gave me all the bones and fat like I asked them to. I only got one tiny package of bones and two slabs of fat. I wanted them all! The "experiment" of buying a whole pig and trying to get more than usual out of it by asking for all the bits and pieces didn't work. I had hoped that the price per pound would go down, since the price was for the whole pig (from the farmer) and hanging weight (for the butcher), regardless of whether I took the whole thing or bones and offal and fat, etc. got tossed. Oh well. I now have a freezer full of pork.

My brothers are all coming for Christmas. The two oldest ones are flying and we know when they will be here. The youngest brother will drive down, and will probably arrive on the 24th, or maybe the 23rd or the 22. He'll leave on the 26th, or maybe the 27th or the 28th. It will probably be him and his wife, or maybe just him, or he might bring down one or two kids. Another nephew says he still doesn't know if he'll be coming, though since he's in Dubai, I assume he won't be coming if he doesn't have his reservations yet.

Bottom line - there might be five of us for a week at Christmas, or there might be ten of us for anywhere from two days to a week. Sigh. Mom and I can do menu planning all right, but not knowing whether to shop for five people or for ten people complicates things. And dumb DB (and SIL!) doesn't seem to realize that it makes things difficult if we don't know who will be here or for how long.

Anyway, I'm not setting a budget goal for the month.

My goal is going to be $180. I already spent half that so I have to be careful. I have a lot of food on hand so there's no reason if I'm mindful and make my plans based on what I have that I can't do it. I need to stop buying lunch meat. It's expensive and we have food in the freezer to take for lunches.

Let's keep track, even with the holiday. I'm going to shoot for $400 this month, and count the Christmas feast food.

Sadly, we still don't have a fridge at work, so I'm taking breakfast and lunch as fast food.
