I gauge my weight loss off of how my clothes fit, not what the scales say...

Not a problem. Once my LITTLE sister (Bear14GSB - AWOL co-leader) explained it to me it was one of those "AH HA!" moments.

Here's something else to think about:
Fat takes up THREE TIMES as much space as muscle.

As my sister says, "Wrap your brain around THAT!"

Charlene - think about it for a minute. My sister had to explain that "slip of tongue" to me also.

They weigh the SAME. It's the SPACE that they occupy that differs.

Medications also contribute to weight gain. The medication Lotrel (lowers blood pressure) was contributing to my weight gain and was making me too tired to exercise. I'll start new meds tomorrow, hopefully they'll be better.

I have always been told that muscle weighs more than fat. Have they proven otherwise now?

I posted this to the weigh-in thread, but not everyone is going there to weigh in, so I copied it to a new thread.

Some of you may notice a weight GAIN instead of a loss even though you are staying with your calories and exercising.
REMEMBER that it's important to be within ALL nutrient values - the carbs, fats, FIBER, protein and SODIUM.
Remember, also, that although fat takes up 3 times as much space as muscle, a pound of fat and a pound of muscle WEIGH THE SAME. If the scale isn't moving, is the tape measure? How are your clothes feeling?
And lastly, ladies, is it "TTOM"? (That Time of the Month) You WILL experience weight gain which is simply water weight.
GET IN the water that YOUR BODY requires every day (half your weight in ounces) PURE water, not added stuff.

SO, Don't get frustrated, keep with it! If you've just gotten back in the saddle after a lengthy break, you've GOT to let your body readjust to these changes.
