Out of the heart, the mouth speaks. Out of the mind, the heart believes. The only way I've found to guard our hearts is to guard our minds. What we think on is what we put into our hearts. If we keep thinking about that argument with our friend, we feed bitterness to our heart. If we keep thinking about that bill that we can't pay, we feed worry to our heart. Etc, etc.

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7a)

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.(Philippians 4:8)

Psalms 51:10 " Create in me a clean heart O God and renew a right spirit within me".

Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh"

From our heart our purest emotions flow, for this reason, God advises us to guard our hearts. Proverbs 4:23

Take care of your physical, but more importantly, your spiritual heart. Nourish your spiritual heart daily with the word of God. Take care of your physical heart, but guard your spiritual one.
Blessings to all!

What do you think?

Heart attacks have claimed more lives than any other one disease. As I write this I am reminded of how my dad was one of its victims as a young man. Looking back, I recall as a young girl of his symptoms, suffering, and how if affected his entire life. This takes me yet to a deeper subject of how my heart and that of others are under attack from a spiritual stand point. (Good vs Evil, God vs. Satan)
WHAT DOES A GOOD AND BAD SPIRITUAL HEART LOOK LIKE
Good heart

Bad Heart

.Good Heart or a Bad Heart:
compassionate or uncompassionate
encourager or discourages
co-cooperative or divisive
Loving or unloving

#1 Attack on the Heart : Hardening of the arteries. This can lead to sickness and death for a physical heart like that of my dad.

Proverbs 28:14b ..He that hardenth his heart shall fall into mischief..
Eph. 4:18 -19 (look up)
(So it seems if I am not close to God and the things of Him, that I am moving away from him and soon find myself unhappy,
dissatisfied, weak, sick spiritually, darkened, blind, past feeling, continually ignore conviction from the Holy Spirit and reject preaching/teaching of Gods Word

#2 Attack on the Heart, I will call Murmur of the Heart or a Rotten Heart

This scripture paints a vivid picture that speaks for itself. Mt. 22: 27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
My mom experienced a fast heart, physically. Spiritually speak, this heart beats fast after wrong thing. It is a life distracted by pleasure seeking of which the world can never satisfy except for a short while (. God offers things that are eternal, fulfilling, and purposeful that adds joy and peace to our lives daily?) Which do I prefer?

Attack #3 is the Diseased Heart or one that is a Slow Heart Luke 24:13-26

Distracted by ones own agenda, the world, discouraged when God doesnt do as expected
This makes one ask the question is my heart slowing down. Do I place the wrong priorities first in my life? What about my attitudes, actions, dealings with people, compromises? If I dont let the Lord help me now I might have a full blown heart attack!!

A good question: Do I have a Heart on Fire Luke 24:32-35

One that communicates with Jesus in His Word and in Fellowship, Knows Truth, shares Christ
When I take time to do a self examination of my heart from time to time it causes me to cry out:

This was my devotions this evening, and I wanted to write it out for me and anyone else that would care to join me.
