Jeri, all the best with the liquids tomorrow and the procedure on Friday. I hope all goes well.

1.8 pounds. I know that hurts, but it will come off. You can carry that much water after eating a couple of olives or a pickle. I would not worry!

L have to get ready for a procedure on Friday. So, I have to have only clear liquids on Thursday. Chicken broth, seltzer water, coconut water, a soda or two and hopefully I can find someone sugar free popsicles. Exciting? Oh yeah.I gained 1.8 lb. last week. No changes. Do better this week.

I can, I will, I believe in me.

So my son got in, ate the lovely, nutritious dinner I had prepared and immediately started grazing. Of course, there was no candy or junk to be found, so I took him to Mac's Milk. He loaded up on all sorts of unmentionable food items (you really do NOT want to know!)

emoticon I, however, contented myself with a bag of dry roasted almonds and something called "Breyers Pleasures." I got Vanilla Bean: 140 cal for one cup, only 4g sugar and 3g fat, and it is actually really good! It's not as sweet as Halo Top, and has fewer calories as well as having no artificial ingredients. Yum! Good trick!

I don't know what the answer to that is. I'm ok with posting to both. I'll wait to see what folks want to do.

Hi Everybody,
I wondered what happened to you. I moved over to "Weighing In.." I've been posting there. I couldn't find you. Anyway, I lost over 11 lb. in October. And, I don't want them found!
Best to you,
Jeri

Hi everyone!

Okay, I will weigh in tomorrow morning (I always weigh in the morning before I eat or drink anything! Good trick, eh?) and report tomorrow.

Anyone else? NO PRESSURE! I volunteer to get the ball rolling.

And, Darlene, I dread my weigh-in, too. I'm not sure I want to know... Gulp!

I think we were all doing Thursday or Friday before. I have a terrible habit of forgetting things, so sometimes missed. I hate to even look at it right now.

I've been trying to get to exercise classes all weekdays, but right now I am having problems with being low on gas. Need to get through the 6th with a half tank in a large pickup and still have a singing class left (last one they are doing). So I am just going to the ones at the closest recreation center. That will get me a Silver Sneakers Classic on Monday and pickleball on Tuesday and Thursday. The next week Classic is cancelled because of voting equipment in there. If the weather is good I will take Cassie for a walk.

I keep trying to get back to the low carb I was doing, but I'm having problems with that. I don't end up with a lot of calories when I do that since I can't have that much fat. I get more than the recommended, but not the real high fat like in LCHF.

Oh, Darlene, the munchies... sometimes I get that way if I'm run down, coming down with a cold or haven't slept enough.

My best strategy, which usually works, is a cup of herb tea to give that tummy warmth and fullness. I then brush my teeth. Toothpaste makes everything taste awful, and the idea of eating is very unappealing. This generally buys me some time, and I can delay eating until the next meal.

There are all sorts of reasons why we overeat. Mine are usually physiological rather than emotional, so my strategies might not work for everyone. I hope you find your answer!

Hello Darlene and Jeri,

Yes, Let's get started. We have lots of work to do for ourselves.

I'm so sorry to hear about all the health challenges you both have faced and are facing, but I so admire your courage and your determination to get strong and healthy again. Getting the weight off is so important for all of us, for our joints, for our energy and for our future health.

I'm sorry I didn't pop by yesterday, but here is my report (Do we report? LOL!)

I ate within my calorie range--good, healthy stuff like salad, 0% Greek yogurt with fruit, no sugar, lean protein--both today and yesterday. I dodged a temptation today, and it was fine. I anticipate the same sort of temptation tomorrow, but I've packed mandarine oranges with Greek yogurt to give myself a treat at lunch. I also have a limited splurge coming up, so I think I'll be able to dodge the calorie bomb tomorrow.

I went for a 50 minute brisk walk yesterday, and today I walked for 30 minutes and did 35 minutes of strength training.

My plan for tomorrow is another 50 minute walk, and eating on plan. Thursday will be more challenging, since it's my son's birthday and I'm making his favourites. However, his favourite dessert is not too terribly, terribly, horribly unhealthy, so I will be able to have a small slice and still be alright. He wants grilled salmon, steamed artichokes and asparagus with lemon butter. My plan is to put some garlic paste into lemon juice mixed with warm chicken stock and have that in place of the lemon butter for myself. I'll let you know how that goes... yes, salt, too much salt, but I need something with the artichokes!

When should we set weigh-in day, or do we leave it loose? Are we starting now? Thanks for letting me know how you do things on this thread! I look forward to it all, and thanks for letting me join you on the journey!

I wish I could figure out the "why" when I start getting the munchies. I was fine this morning. This afternoon I have been having to "have" something all afternoon. I just can't stop.

I am sorry that you had to go through the cancer. I uterine and ovarian cancer. No one told me I would gain weight after, but I sure did. I had gone down to 150 or 155 pounds and went right back up to over 200 as soon as the surgery was over. I want to get back down there, but I sure don't want to do it the same way.

Thank you ladies for the well wishes and all the support. I know we can do this together!
I had breast cancer for the second time last year ( different side, different cancer) and the oncologist said most patients gain 10 pounds the first year. I wanted to prove him wrong. I can hardly wait to see him!
Then, I felt that my recovery from the knee surgery would go better if I lost the weight. Besides, I'm supposed to have the other knee done, too. Not for awhile. First, I have to forget how brutally painful this has been. I don't know if I told you...the surgeon said my appetite would be "off" for about 4-6 weeks post-op. I believe it and will take all the help I can get! I am motivated.
We all need to find our "why." What motivates us, and keep it in sight. This weight loss thing is a full-time job. Now off the soap box...

I can, I will, I believe in me.

Jeri, I didn't realize that you had undergone knee replacement. You are doing really well.

I would be willing to try this again. Unfortunately, I would be starting at above when I started the last time.

My goal is to get to around 145, but right now the goal is to get below 190. I get down to about 191, then go back up every time.

Jeri, my goodness, I hope you are healing well. How long does the doc say you have to rest and heal? I hope the physio is going well.

LOL! Losing weight while sitting around! Go figure!

So, to let you know where I am, I'm starting at 176, and wanting to work my way down to 150, or 140 as "the dream." I would be happy at 150, but would still be in the over-fat category at that weight. Since the Big M I've had a very hard time controlling my weight. I was up to 189 two years ago, which is when I joined Spark. Slowly, in fits and starts, it has come off, and I got down to 172 a year ago. I weighed in at 182 in August, so have been able to take off 6 pounds. I am now stalled. Yikes. I keep gaining and losing the same 5-10 pounds--but at least I'm not gaining, overall.

Still, my life is very stressful, and it is hard to make the time to exercise. However, it's a matter of priorities. Today I'm hiking, even though I have tons of work to do. I'll do it later. A beautiful day like this is a rare treat in the late fall.

I also have a foot issue, a shoulder issue and may need a hernia repair, so sometimes it's hard to do certain types of exercise, depending on what's going on with my body. However, it is not the same as a knee issue, such as what you have been battling! So many people say their knee replacement gives them their life back! I'm betting this will be the case for you! Once you've bounced back from the surgery, there will be no stopping you!

Wow! Such an amazing weight-loss while sidelined! You must have eaten all the right things, and in the right amounts! That is fabulous!

You go, Girl!

Hi Megan,
I'll find you wherever you are! I lost 4.2 lb. last week. I don't know how. I'm recovering from total knee replacement and all I've been doing is sitting. Maybe, I should sit more. LOL
Best to you,
Jeri

That is great!

I wonder if we should move to the WEIGHing IN forum under Challenges. It looks like the weight losses or current weight, just not on a weekly thing like this one. Doesn't seem like others are continuing this one.

Well, I give up. Just 2 pounds and kept going back up every time I lost a little.

Friday 6/8/18 Goal to lose 10 pounds or more.

6/8/18 - 204.3
6/15 - 201.9 (IBS hit. Don't take it as a good loss)
6/23 - 202.4
6/29 - 198.4
7/6 - 201.1 (what I get for eating crap and causing a reverse of my usual IBS)
7/13 - 204.6 (can't go, swollen feet, NOT eating more, but gaining more -- UGH)
7/22 - 201.3 or 6, can't remember. Keep forgetting on Friday morning.
7/27
8/3 - 201.3 It just won't go down (or else my scale is stuck)
8/10 - 198,8
8/17 End of challenge Final weight loss - 202.1

Don't know what good all that calorie burning exercise is since even when I don't eat much I can't lose.

8/17 End of challenge Final weight loss

Thanks, Kathleen. Weigh day tomorrow but I stepped on the scale today and I'm down a little more than a pound, so tomorrow should be even better. emoticon
