Is there interest in extending this idea for an ongoing check-in thread? Start and end anytime? Or is it do-able BECAUSE it had an end time?

I also met my exercise goals almost every day in February. That would not have happened without the team challenge. Hopefully I have made good exercise habits and will be able to keep it up.

I didn't feel well yesterday, so I only did 1 hour on the elliptical, 1 set of intervals, no video workout.

Today I felt great and I met my goal of doing 4 sets of 6 intervals on my elliptical. I met my goal of using the elliptical for 120 minutes plus I did an extra 60 minutes to make up for the hour I missed yesterday. emoticon

My weight isn’t as stable as I would like. I have lost 2 pounds. I don’t really believe until I see the same number 3 times. I don’t want to lose anymore weight, so I am increasing my calories by 100.

in range ~ sodium over 1500 ~ shovel snow

I spent part of the afternoon outside enjoying the fresh air and having fun with two shovels from my shovel collection. There was a top layer of about a half inch of solid crusty snow covering about 3" of a softer dry snow. I hit more thick, solid ice and that bottom layer isn't moving. The top layer is as smooth as a skating rink. I tossed the snow from the walkway onto the "lawn" and watched the chunks glide like a hockey puck.

I've been using the RunningAhead site to keep track of my distance, time, pace. They have a map my route feature too. I like the Equipment tracking feature. It has been fun to put the price of a brand new pair of running shoes on my chart and watch the "price per mile" calculate the efficiency. I have running shoes that cost around $140 so it is rated as costing me $140/mile when new and by the time they are retired to walking around the supermarket they are only costing me less than 25 cents/mile. And the site has lots of other features I've never used.

Since November, I've been using a combination of Intermittent Fast plans. I don't really consider it true fasting but instead I think of it as an Intermittent low calorie plan. The calories for the day are low twice a week and I intentionally don't eat until later in the day ... that's a combination approach. It's a pattern that feels do-able for me. Today was a low calorie day.

Lots of snow and ice melting. And I walked outside on this warm February afternoon. I broke my ankle walking/running on the last night of February last year on a day like today ... memorably warm and clear for February. I was able to complete my short neighborhood route. First time I could cover a couple of miles in a year. Feeling good about finally feeling good!

I met my second goal of working out earlier in the day and doing an exercise video. I did one of the premium workouts called Upper Arm Burn for 30 minutes. The way it works is you do a set of exercises for 10 minutes, then you get a water break then repeat for 10 minutes have another water break and a last set of reps. I plan to do a lower body workout tomorrow. emoticon

ZIPITUP: Take everything one day at a time, one goal at a time.

There has been an unusual amount of rain here, but the weather is usually so mild no one minds the rain.

I met my goal of doing 4 sets of 6 intervals on my elliptical. I met my goal of using the elliptical for 120 minutes. emoticon

I have yet another goal that I haven’t been able to fulfill until now. I want to exercise earlier in the day. Today I did my elliptical from 10AM to 12PM, which is good for me. This gave me time to do some resistance training. I did a Spark Video called 18-Minute Boot Camp Cardio Sculpt. I have decided that next time I will try the premium workouts. You can set the amount of time you want to work out from 10-20-30 minutes. I would like to cycle between upper body, lower body and core on different days. emoticon

I also had time to fix my mom and me a healthy dinner, Veggestrone, a recipe my mom got off the Internet. emoticon

I ate really healthy today as usual. 2009 calories total. Weight is stable at just under 130 pounds.

Perfect! I need accountability! I love the idea of this challenge! emoticon

Today I ate 1992 calories. My goal is to figure out how many calories I can eat a day without gaining or losing. I do a lot of exercise and I was eating a lot more calories before, but I think my body adjusted to all the exercise and I don't need as much. I am doing interval training now however, only been doing it consistently for 10 days. So I am targeting 2000 calories and I will see how it goes. emoticon

I ate really healthy today, like I do most days. emoticon

I did 4 sets of 6 intervals of 15 sec high intensity 45 sec moderate intensity. And I did 120 minutes total on my elliptical. emoticon

I don’t want to add strength training yet, but I do want to get to it. I want a habit of doing interval training. Then I will make a habit of strength training. emoticon

February is American Heart Month. American Heart Month, a federally designated event. The first American Heart Month, took place in February 1964, was proclaimed by President Lyndon B. Johnson. The Congress, by joint resolution, has requested the President to issue an annual proclamation designating February as American Heart Month.

The biggest part of living healthy comes down to simply making healthy choices. While you can’t change things like age and family history, the good news is that even modest changes to your diet and lifestyle can improve your heart health and lower your risk by as much as 80 percent. (American Heart Association)

emoticon emoticon TRACK FITNESS emoticon emoticon
Focus on what you CAN DO during February. Add variety to life: strength, cardio, and balance. Try a new home strength program and practice daily? Have fun with calisthenics? Put miles on a treadmill? Shovel snow?

Quick tips from healthfinder.gov
emoticon Choose aerobic activities – activities that make your heart beat faster – like walking fast, dancing, swimming. The minimum suggested aim is 2 hours and 30 minutes a week of moderate aerobic activities. Try for 30 minutes of aerobic activity on most days of the week.
emoticon Do strengthening activities 2 days a week. Breathe out as you lift the weight, and breathe in as you lower it. Don't hold your breath – holding your breath can cause unsafe changes in your blood pressure.
emoticon Do balance activities 3 or more days a week. Practice standing on one foot (hold onto a chair if you need to at first). Sign up for a yoga class, practice tai chi, or follow a yoga video at home.

emoticon emoticon TRACK FOOD emoticon emoticon
emoticon Stay in your calorie and nutrition range.
emoticon Keep a watchful eye on amount of sodium.

emoticon Sodium Amount
Recommendations from U.S. Office of Disease Prevention & Health Promotion
emoticon Adults without hypertension or prehypertension: Less than 2,300 mg a day.
emoticon Adults with hypertension or prehypertension: Limit to 1,500 mg a day.
