I was vegan for three years and agree that fish product in Asian foods and egg in noodles was the hardest. I wasn't too hard on myself if I slipped, and I think that is important for sticking with it! There's a LOT you can miss!

I found that if I followed the allergen information that kept me away from milk and eggs. I now have a child that has an egg allergy, so I have found that for the most part corn starch works best as an egg substitute when baking or making pancakes, things like that. I've actually found that many pancake mixes don't have egg if you stay away from the big brands. Red Mill makes a good one.

Also - many gelatins are animal based, so watch out for any kind of "gummy" candy. We vegetarians should be doing that too, though :-)

Eggs, dairy and meat but it can be tricky if you eat processed foods. Look on the packaging for the ingredients and there will be a section under the list that say known allergens and it will list if there are eggs or dairy in it. There are fish oils and such in a lot of condiments like Worcestershire and Asian sauces. The only way to be sure is to look for vegan on the package. There is usually eggs and dairy in breads, pancake mixes so stick to making your own. Often there are eggs in dried pasta so look on the ingredients for it.

The easiest way to eat vegan is to prepare your own foods. Eat beans, legumes, vegetables and whole grains like rice and oats.

It sounds like a lot of trouble but you are giving up these for the Lord so enjoy the process. I love the challenge of finding new recipes.

I have been a vegetarian for about 20 years and have decided to go vegan for Lent. Since I already know the veggie part, I was wondering the ingredients on my vegetarian foods that I need to look for to go vegan. The obvious being eggs and any kind of dairy but I don't know the lesser known words to look out for. Thanks for any advice you can give me!

We are constantly creating our "karma" or destiny through our intentions, thoughts and deeds in this moment. It is achieved through countless deliberate acts of selflessness.

It's hard to be happy with others if we are not happy with ourselves.

Just keep on moving and you'll get there.

If you ever want to feel good about yourself, go out and help someone else!
