October goals:
Start training for March half marathon relay team
Continue with exercise routine (Swim-M,W,F; Elliptical-T,TH; Run/walk-S)
Keep the streak going with MyFitnessPal (97 days today)
Stay within calorie range 25/31 days
Replace afternoon 3:00 pm sweet/energy craving with coffee or tea. (This was working and then I ran out of coffee at work).

Oh! I would like to join this challenge! I'll start in October if that is all right with everyone.

My fitness goal will simply to go for a half hour swim 2 times a week.

My nutrition goal is to try and eat at least 5 veggies and/or fruits per day.

I'm excited for this!

I finished my October with 11 swims totalling 33,250 yards. So I made the yardage goal of 28,000, but not the 14 swims. I can live with the yardage.

Tracking: I tracked 24 out of 31 days (77%). But on many of those days I was over on calories or carbs or both. So I'm at exactly the same weight on Oct 31 that I was on Oct. 1. **sigh** Tracking doesn't do much good if it doesn't keep me accountable, now, does it? I need to figure something else out.

Even though I haven't reported in all month, I was doing well with all of my goals until last week. DD needed some help with childcare for the hooligans, so no elliptical work out last week at all and I haven't gotten in any runs on the weekends. I have kept up with swimming 3 days a week.

Tomorrow starts our master's team annual Miles in the Pool challenge. We've all set how many miles we think we can achieve in the next 4 weeks (earning our Thanksgiving dinner) and then are placed on 3 teams. The teams have about the same total mileage. I'm on the orange team and have a goal of 20 miles.

My month has been pretty off. Lots of work, little working out.

BUT I don't think it's all been a failure. I have definitely focused on managing stress and not stress eating. That alone had helped me lose some weight and keep it off. :)I'm hoping to keep that trend up for the rest of the month.

Reporting in. This is getting confusing.

So far for October I have 9 swims totalling 28,750 yards. I'm over my goal of 28,000 already. I still need 5 more swims to make my 14. I think I was anticipating working more hours and having less time to swim. I originally thought 2000 yards per swim was all I would have time for, but I've been averaging almost 3100.

Tracking food hasn't been so great. I've tracked 17 days out of 22, or 77%. (My goal was 5 out of every 7, or 71%.) So I made the goal, but I've been over on either calories or carbs or both on most of those days. So I'm not losing any weight.

Ugh...

Laurie - yes and no... I'm taking care of myself better, but that means actually eating and sleeping right now. And taking time away from work.

I want to fit in more swims and yoga, but it's been hard to pull away from work this week. Perhaps this weekend will be a good "reset."

APONI_KB - That's a great goal. I've set mine this month as how many times, rather than distance, too.

Results for Week 1:

Swim X 3 a week - YES!

Elliptical X 2 a week - YES!

Run/Walk 5 miles X 1 a week - No - I need to plan ahead for which day of the weekend and what time. I didn't figure in all of this weekend's activities along with it being dark later and earlier along with a weather change

Strength 2 X a week - YES!

Yoga 2 X a week - No. Still having trouble figuring out when or remembering to do it in the evening.
++++
This week's plan: (I'm out of town on Wednesday and Thursday, working on Saturday and leaving on Saturday for a conference in San Diego, so it's taking some thought as to how to fit everything in this week)

Monday - Swim, 1/2 Strength Workout, Elliptical, Yoga
Tuesday - Swim, 1/2 Strength Workout
Wednesday - Elliptical or Run.
Thursday - Elliptical or Run (if not done on Wednesday) Yoga
Friday - Swim, Strength
Saturday - Elliptical or Run (If I run on Wednesday or Thursday, then this will be my 1 run of the week
Sunday - ???

Excellent Aponi! If you follow that program you'll get to 1650 before you know it. Even if it takes 8 weeks instead of 6.

Ha! A Doctor Who quote.... Kourtney? Did you see that??? LOL

This past Wednesday (Oct 2nd) was the last day for a swim lesson thing I was doing twice a week. Starting today I'm doing a 0-1650 program. Its supposedly 6 weeks but I feel like I am going to repeat a week or two.

so I don't want to set a distance goal - just get to the Y and into the water 2-3 times week

Excellent! I'm loving everyone's goals. Don't forget to report in on occasion!

Here's my first report:

Since Oct. 1, 2 swims totalling 5,850 (12 swims and 22,150 left to goal). I've also tracked my food 3 days out of the 5.

I realized I have a challenge I can give myself that's applicable especially while I'm unemployed, so my KISS+ goals:

wake up every day by 8 am (saturday is ok to sleep in) and be dressed by 9

swim twice per week

run twice per week (1.9 mile loop for now, stepping up in distance as ability allows)

hula hoop, yoga or belly dancing once per week

Here are my KISS+ goals for October.

Swim X 3 a week + speed work each time. (My timed 500 on Monday was my slowest ever)

Elliptical X 2 a week + increase speed to with a goal of 3.1 miles in 30 min (My best is 33:20)

Run/Walk 5 miles X 1 a week + add .5 miles each week to get ready for 1/2 marathon in March.

Strength 2 X a week + Only did this for 2 weeks in September, so the + is for all weeks in October

Yoga 2 X a week - Didn't do this at all in September, so the + is to fit it in in October.

++++
So far:
Yesterday - Elliptical 3.1 in 33:30 + Strength

Today - Swam and did speed work of 8 X 50 on the 1:15. Which was a good interval for me considering it was IM order, no just free style. Total yards today was 2000. Yoga is the plan for tonight after work.

Hello everyone!

My swimming goal for October is 10 swim. My last swim was 1500 (5 sets of 300) and I'd love to be able to work up to 2000.

My general goal is to do 20 min/5 days each week, including swimming, other cardio, ST, and stretching.

I also want to get in 14 swims. They'll be standard practice swims - no extra yards after practice for me. So it'll be 2000 - 2700 yards a swim, so at least 28,000 yards.

I want to keep doing the weekly hikes I've been doing.

I also want to track food at least 90%, in range at least 80%.

My September goal was 36,000 yards swimming. I don't think I'll make that this month, since I have this new "job" that I don't know how long it will last.

I'm going to go for 14 swims in October, with a minimum of 2,000 yards per, or 28,000 total.

I'm also going to add in tracking my food at least 5 out of 7 days every week. (Thanks Kourtney) I hope that helps me finally get rid of the excess 12 lbs!

KISS+.... Thanks Mary

Take your September goal and add something to it. Either add on to the mileage/yardage you already had, or add some new aspect.
