SOCIAL: Go visit critically ill friend in hospital. Bite tongue about power of attorney that I advised her to do a long time ago that she never did. emoticon

Go to bank; try not to bite someone's head off about bank fees they aren't supposed to be charging me but I keep getting dinged every month anyway (no idea what category this falls under.... "Pissed off Consumer?") emoticon

Disastrous day. It was so difficult going to that hospital and seeing my friend so sick and those poor boys of hers. Far too young to be making such awful decisions. We went for beer and appetizers afterwards.

Write letter about land contract - turned out to be too early for this. Need to do a title search first. But I dealt with the issue, so I'm calling it emoticon

A points challenge.... hmm, that's interesting. Maybe we should do one of those next month. Heather suggested something like it and then it didn't happen. She also mentioned it being a lot of work for the person keeping track of it, but maybe we don't need someone else to keep track if we do it on our own. I'm not very competitive, but I know others are. It might help stoke our competitive spirits. What do you guys think?

Laurie and everyone - I'm not keeping up on this even with using the notes app on my phone, so I decided to go with my work fitness challenge for this month. We have a list of ways to earn points each day with a goal of 100 points a week. Last week I earned 98 even while being on vacation. So I guess my daily challenge is to record my fitness points for work each day.

Pay bills! Apparently no one wanted to be paid yesterday because all of the websites I use to pay bills were down. (Call Kohl's - why does it say there is no transaction history on a charge card I've had for 10 years?)

review/organize client files (been trying to get to this for a week!)
get bankruptcy paperwork and software organized and in order - can't take cases without this!
make phone calls (at least 5 that I can think of)

Bleh. Fighing a cold for a few days so my cardio has been half speed and I'm sure not getting near that stepper. It'll kill my Feb Challenge but I'll pick it up again when able and get as close as I can to the goal by the end.

Edit: My goal for today is to not blow my nose 50 times. I'm the worlds worst patient, it's amazing she hasn't killed me for it before.

I didn't do so great yesterday. I really have a hard time staying under 1500 calories. Just didn't get to a bunch of other things I had hoped to do. On to another day....

TODAY IS: Feb 6. MY GOALS FOR TODAY ARE:

FOOD TRACKING - keep the momentum going! Don't overcarb emoticon

STAY BELOW A CERTAIN CALORIE LEVEL at or below 1600. Maybe an adjustment will help. emoticon

Well, I guess all that swimming paid off! Despite going over in calories yesterday, I was down a pound today!

TODAY IS: Feb 5. MY GOALS FOR TODAY ARE:

FOOD TRACKING - keep the momentum going! Don't overcarb emoticon

Kourtney - I agree with Maureen, sounds painful, but good. Susan just switched her counselor and she is much happier with the new one. She told him she wanted him to give her tools to deal with her life, not tell her to change her life and he's doing it. He's given her some really good tools and I think it will help.

Maureen - Yay for the weight loss! Jacob is so proud of you - hehe.

Not so successful on day 2. Carpet man was late and took way longer than I anticipated then baking muffins and grocery store took forever. Got in a fight with the wife... so no run, no yoga, no grout, no goodwill pile.

Thankfully, today is a whole new day.

Kourt: Therapy is the best! it sucks and is hard, I'm sure you know, but it's so much better to have all that stuff in one room rather than spread all around. That was my experience anyway.

Haha - Kourtney, I came from the management style Plan, Do, Act. I think I do apply that to my personal life a lot because it's so ingrained in me. I say, "Work hard, play harder"...but same idea. How's your emotional side doing?

Goal for today:

Already did my work out emoticon (and I did the spin and didn't get into the pool instead). I had a good excuse yesterday because I got to swim with my daughter. She has the most beautiful strokes ever! Her fly looks so perfect it's amazing to me. In freestyle she hardly makes any splash but she blows by me. It was really fun! I love having a family that all wants to go play hard!

Success on day 1! I picked clean the grout in the kitchen.

Feb 2:

1. Clean grout in foyer
2. Cull through my clothes for the goodwill pile. This is tough. I hate shopping for clothes and, until I met my wife, wore the same 4 pair of wranglers for over 10 years.
3. Run 6 miles. My neighbor invited me to run the Ocean City Half Marathon and under the influence of a runner's high I agreed. Oh well, it has to help with training for that half ironman I signed up for.
4. Hour of power yoga at 4pm
5. Watch the superbowl! emoticon

I warmed up with 20 minutes stationary bike, then stretching. I did better than I expected but that was probably due to some practice runs this week. It will get tougher from here and it probably won't be daily. I'm thinking every other day. Maximum heart rate went up but recovery was still quick so I guess I'm not overdoing it. Then I did circuit, back to bike and some band work.

I love this daily challenge idea and the fact that you can switch it around. I'm going to have to think about my plans and make a schedule, but I plan to (1) track food, (2) work out regularly, and (3) periodically add in some home improvement stuff that Jason and I are trying to get done before the weather gets nice again and we're out of the house every weekend.

Well I've been debating going to the gym or not. I really should....but I'm not going to. I DID however eat in my ranges!!
EDIT: I did go to the gym! At 7:45 I changed my mind and went an lifted. It was great. The gym was full of teenage boys who only do bicep curls so I go the squat rack all to myself!

I kinda like that it's one day at a time. And I'm going to have a repeated goal of "no more than 30 minutes of non-work screen time" over and over again - Spark has NOT been my friend in that regard!

Ok, folks, I read what you all wrote and tried to come up with something everyone could use.

This challenge is designed to be a daily challenge, so your goals need to be achievable and realistic for a single 24 hour period. You can do this every day if you want, but you don’t have to.

Pick two or three categories, or more (what the heck… pick ‘em all if you want!) per day, and post what you’re going to do that day. You can pick different categories each day, or the same ones each day, or a combination of both. Some of them will overlap, so try to pick at least two that are completely different from each other. Then at the end of the day, come back and edit your post (or make a new one) to tell how you did. Or you can wait till you post the next day’s goals to tell us how you did on the day before.

This is designed to get us focused on our basic health needs and getting back into workable routines after the holidays, with an eye towards spring and the end of the dismal weather a lot of us are having. This one is not supposed to be competitive; rather, it’s for accountability and encouragement.

Here are the categories to pick from. I’m trying to get something for everyone here, so some of these may not apply to you.
