I forgot to update for last week!

I did much better with managing my time and took some much needed nights off from working on art business. I only made it to the y for a land workout once and no swim due to the snow storm. But I made up for it in shoveling.

emoticon Heathhill!

My report;

I joined two SparkPeople bootcamp programs for 28 days. Just started one on Sunday, the other yesterday. My legs are sore from the squats.

I have put in 2900 yards this week. My husband and I are alternating days going to the pool so far, with on Sunday, we go swimming together.

So far so good. I have been putting in walks or other low impact cardio on the days I am not going to the pool.

My weight is still the same. Blech.. BUT I do notice the difference in inches.

I didn't update for the last two weeks, but here I am!! Here's my report

My goal is simple for January. I will work out 20 minutes a day every day. - I have MET my goal!!! So far, I have worked out every single day. There have been a few days where all I could muster was 12 minutes, but I'm counting that because my goal has been to work out every day, and I've achieved that so far!!

I've been posting about it like I said I would, and my hubby has been very supportive!!!

The anticipated biggest obstacle was my own ability to ignore workouts and do other "more important" things first. I planed to deal with this by repeating my mantra "Relentless" and I will be relentless in my pursuit of this goal. I've done this well all month!!!

I am SO PROUD of myself!!!!! I have never in my life worked out 25 days in a row. Yay me!!!!

Next I had an eight day streak and then had to start over after MLK day.

And now building on a one day streak.

Goal: 12 days to the end of the month of 10 minutes of movement or 10 reps of body weight exercise. That's it. Let's do this.

And next month I'm adding to remember to take my vitamin D so the doctor will stop getting on me....

Second week of January! My time management was marginally better but not by a whole lot. Not surprising that I came down with a cold. So I got one elliptical workout and my weekend swim.

This week's schedule is a bit more manageable, should be good to meet my goal of two elliptical sessions and one swim!

Checking in!

For the first week of January I let my art responsibilities pile up a bit and didn't make it to the y at all during the week. I did get my weekend swim and compensated with a day of good activity levels on Sunday. So, I didn't meet my challenge but I feel I did OK.

This week, better time management! I have meetings tonight and Thursday but that means that I can go to the y on Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Friday.

Checkin Time!

1. Look at your previous goals and report progress / any changes.

**January Goals**
- Daily Handstand Practice
----- I'm taking this out. It's just too time consuming to warm it up.

- Elliptical 4x a week (first half of C25K + 1 long day / week)
---- If we're not including Sunday I did 0 workouts.

- Weekly yoga class (JP intro package)
---- Rocked this.

- Track food 85-90% of the time
---- While I think I did a good job of being in range, I didn't set aside time to track very much once work started up again.

- Be in range 70-80%% of the time
---- I do think I was in range most of the time, despite note tracking.

- Lose 6 pounds (184).
---- I've lost somewhere between 2 and 3 pounds thus far this month :).

2. Talk about what you did well last week and what you could've done better.
- I did a good job of working hard but then setting aside time for myself.
- We didn't eat out much - yay!
- I ROCKED getting the kitchen clean before leaving for work (so Mike can cook dinner before I get home).
- I did not drink enough water during the work day.
- I did not typically track my food.

3. Write what your FOCUS will be this week to meet your goals this month.
- I will track foods right after I eat them, rather than "do it later" - I don't actually do it later.
- I made a workout plan for the week and will hit the majority of the goals.
- I will drink more water at work.

I made it a five day streak!

My ten minutes/ten reps per day failed yesterday. I let myself get distracted and forgot to do it. (I planned to swim but rain (cold) and work interfered and then I forgot.)

Starting over. Let's see if I can go at least six days with 10 minutes of movement or 10 reps of body weight exercise. emoticon

In January my major workouts: swim, hula hoop, jump rope and ST. I will do at least one of these every day for at least 20 mins in case of something unexpected but my daily aim will be 60-90mins.
I will need to plan ahead to make sure my transportation is set, my gym bag is ready and Iím fueling my body properly. I will prep my gym bags for the entire week which has been wonderful. I will workout in the morning since I love it so much. I will plan ahead for crockpot cooking and if for some reason I canít get to the gym I will get my sweat on at home.

Goal - Minimum cardio of 20 minutes a day. Obstacles for January? Year end tax work is a big factor when you add school on top of it. So reducing my work outs to 20 minutes should be reasonable.

Thanks!

I enlisted my husband's support this time as well. He was a runner but he backed out of it due to family history of back injuries and bad asthma. He doesn't have back problems himself but he wants to take precautions anyway.

So, he's going to give swimming a try. I am excited because we'll have one fitness activities in common! I can't run worth anything but I can swim. :)

Hi Craftsnut! Welcome!

I have gotten totally off track over really the last two years. So my goal is simple for January. I will work out 20 minutes a day every day.

One step I am taking to help meet the goal is posting about it daily on SP. Another step is to include my husband as my cheerleader on this. He is very supportive when I tell him my goals.

The anticipated biggest obstacle is my own ability to ignore workouts and do other "more important" things first. I am going to deal with this by repeating my mantra "Relentless" and I will be relentless in my pursuit of this goal.

So far, so good! I'll be back next week with a report!

Hello! I am new to this team. I started swimming for cardio back in 2014 but fell off the wagon in 2015. I started going back to the pool semi regularly in December 2015. I would like to keep at it this year.

My goal for January is to swim 2700 yards to 5400 yards every week. If I break it down, I'd like to get in at minimum 3 swims, at least 900 yard at each swim, plus a 10 minutes walk on alternating days.

I have 3600 yards down so far this week.

I got way off track in 2015, so I'll keep it real simple and easy:

Do one or more of the following every day in January:
10 minutes of movement
10 squats
10 pushups
10 crunches

and modifications are ok...I'm just trying to be consistent and build up to more ambitious (even a little more..like 11 instead of 10 reps/minutes) goals for February. emoticon

Three days and counting!!!

Ok, so since I also had middling success with my goal in December, I'm going to keep it the same for January. Two elliptical/treadmill workouts during the week and one swim on the weekends!

AAAAND another post where I've set my January goals!

**January Goals**
- Daily Handstand Practice

- Track food 85-90% of the time
- Be in range 70-80%% of the time
- Lose 6 pounds (184).

Steps I'll take to help meet the goal: Treat each day as a truly new day, NOT make health sacrifices for work, continue to improve mental health by changing up meds and therapist, praise myself for progress.

What obstacles do I anticipate? Mental obstacles, mainly. Also ambition to focus on work instead of my health.

How to deal with them? Remember that I'm a badass and I CAN DO THIS.

I haven't set the my goal yet (will tomorrow!) but I DID post a long, rambley blog about things I'm proud of over the past year - one of many steps in forgiving myself for gaining back the weight and focusing on my path ahead. Hope you like it. :)

I'm continuing the same goal for January that I had in December: three times per week to the pool.

Steps I'll take to help meet the goal: I find it's too easy to put it off because I'm busy. So I'm going to put my swims on my calendar. Since I'm inheriting an assistant (!!) in my new business, she'll be able to see those swims and not schedule appointments for me at those times. She'll be understanding too. Her kids are extreme athletes and her husband is a dedicated runner. She gets it.

What obstacles do I anticipate? Stress, depression, busyness
How to deal with them? By going back to my old standby policy: STOP THINKING. Just get out of bed, get dressed, and go. Don't think until the swim is done.

Okay folks, Happy New Year! I hope you were able to wake up and at least get a start on the new year during December. I had middling success, so here's hoping for a great January!

This is a continuation of December's "Get Off Our Butts" challenge. Here are the instructions again:

Tell us what workout(s) you intend to do and how many times you will do it in January.

Added for January: What steps will you take to help you meet this workout goal? What obstacles do you anticipate, and how will you deal with them?

Come back once a week and report how you did. If you're doing great, tell us what helped you stay on track. If you're having trouble, tell us what derailed you.

Good Luck!
