Hi there. I know you posted this a while ago, but hopefully you will recieve an email to tell you I have replied to this and look back in.

I had a similar problem when I started here 7yrs ago, so I know where you are coming from. I have no idea if by now you have found your answers, but just in case I will point you to a couple of articles which helped me.

has information on some healthy foods with higher calories and advice on how to get your level up. I found it invaluable in boosting my own intake from around 250/300 to 1200. Have a few weightloss shakes to hand, too. If you are low by the end of the day, having one of those will give you a bit of a boost. My daughter has problems with eating breakfast so she will often have a slim shake to drink on the train to college so she has the energy to get her through the morning.

This article explains the effects of having a lower intake over a long period of time. The basic gist is that your body will store calories as fat so it has reserves to keep it going, but when it comes to burning them off will save the fat and burn off the muscle instead. This is how you can be overweight in spite of having a low intake.

If you do look back in and want to talk more about it, please feel free to send me a Sparkmail or drop by my Sparkpage and leave a comment.

I am told by Spark People to loose from 158 down to 140 pounds. The program says to take in 1100 to 1500 calories but I only take in about 450-500 calories a day. How can I increase my calories and not gain weight too?
